We need a law to keep greedy e'fing traitorous politicians out of office who are trying to destroy the country our Founding Fathers fought and died for
You wonder why this country is sliding down pool of shit?Look at our so called represenatives. These dunces graduated from the best schools this country has to offer with a top degree in bullshit! And the whole world sees this
@MyTotalRemedy that's not a French flag...the stripes on a French flag are vertical, not horizontal. I suppose that doesn't really matter much, these days. Kinda falls in line with everything else we hear these days...here in Houston, the sky is green, Obama is a Muslim...and the French flag has horizontal lines.
The GOP is so bought and sold...the Dems too...but the GOP is much more shameless in their total bullshit. Unfortunately, they're not stupid..or nuts...it's their targeted demographic that are bat shit nuts and stupid. I love the "science" that orange man uses with his explanation of CO2...they are simply playing to the lowest common denominator...the American people...cattle...In the name of corporate influence, money and power. The matter on HOW they acquire it, matters not to them. LIES.
Why has the RNC invested so much $ in Palin Bachmann? To attract the many women who r clueless about politics. The typical female voter is typically a passive listener to Rush Beck. In order for women to know what to think & say they have to find out what Rush & Beck are "thinking". If they are told to follow an orange man who cries, they will follow that orange man. If they are told about Govn't death panels they will believe it. O a Muslim Marxist? They will only too glad to believe that.
In the Glenn Beck conspiracy style. Let's go to the chalkboard. See the GOP? That's code. That's code folks. The code has been cracked. Turn it around to POG. That is Piss On God. The Republicans are all about Piss On God. Republicans want the mentally ill to shoot innocent people, they want you suck on black air and drink brown water, in spite of the Commandment not to bear false witness against thy neighbors the Repubican will bullshit all the same. Piss On God, the party of the Republicans.
ugh theyre so stupid. everyone is either too afraid to honestly say how they feel which is their job, or not afraid enough, and just make up completely unsubstantiated claims out of thin air. the sad part is in a lot of places their constituents believe that shit. just because theyre in office doesnt mean that theyre going to tell you the truth. if a person on the street told you this would you believe them?
Bachman is going to start a big push to bring back the incandescent light bulb and then black and white TV and then lead paint and then DDT and then lead in gas and if were lucky she will go so far back as to bring back the electric car but not with new technology but the way it was done 100 years ago. Why do they hate progress ohhhh progressives like progress.
you can get a gun if you are mentally unstable, but if you go to court for a gun related problem, there is a law that says that if you have ever been involuntarily admited to a mental institution you were not supposed to have bought that gun. so the law is out there, I don't know what you are talking about.
@xetlive And what are you going to do, illnesses are confidential by law and by the constitution, nobody can check a person's medical record, you have to go by what the person writes in the application. anyway, it doesn't really matter, I had a mental disorder my whole life, I only made it known to doctors by the age of 34 when I started hearing too much voices too often and I needed medication to controll it. society is full of "crazy" people, your boss might be one and you don't know it
I didn't say that I had an answer... depending on the mental stability, you can't tell me that a person who is mentally unstable would even know the meaning of the questions on the form.
Its totally unrealistic to even think that. "Crazy" is somewhat a perspective... there is no special begin/end point. The people who are crazy don't go to hospitals... they end up in jails.
And no, my boss isn't "crazy"... I am the boss. I didn't like making other people lots of money.
Bachmann and Palin are twin sisters from different mothers. They are both dumber than a bag of hammers and the fabricate the shit out of everything. Bachmann reads something on a Fox News blog and thinks it is fact. He is psycho. Good video showing America the hypocracy of the Republican/Conservative/Tea Party, (or whatever they are calling themselves lately.)
Spineless...it is a kind of prerequisite don't you think. You have to be able to say on thing, and in the same breath defend the oposite view point. Yes, we are all sick of it. Do these people represent the citizens of this country? I sure F'ing hope not.
They want to kill Social Security and Medicare and don't understand that a catasrophic illness can wipe out any family. Ron Pauls 10% accross the board tax does not solve that problem either. As far as guns are concerned. Arizona has open carry laws, Hmmmm what state did Gabby Giffords get shot in???? DUH..This is not rocket science. Repubs have fallen so far from the original target of the GOP, they are no longer really Republicans. They are NAZIS or somthing of the sort....
I don't understand who votes for these ass-hats! Are you that scared or that ignorant or is it a little of both? What is it? - the GOP motto should be: The only thing we have to sell, is fear itself!
Michelle Bachman lies about a productive trip. Boehner denies the effects of global warming or climate change. Palin wants creation taught in schools. Their constituents should be outraged as these types of responses to major problems are deplorable. However, their constituents are either ignorant of the issues, racists, or rich conservatives who stand to gain from the spread of lies from these politicians. Someone used to say, " You don't have to be smart just smart enough to know who is".
Are Republicans really too stupid to realize that when it comes to carbon dioxide, it's a matter of amount? Carbon dioxide in certain amounts is good for the environment, but too much has a warming effect on the planet. A kindergarten student could understand that.
and why is this now becoming an issue? because a political party was involved? this shoulda been an issue raised on the first massive school shooting, there have been many since then and each shooter either had mental issues or on some anti depressant most likely increasing their mental problems and suicidal ideation! we are a stupid country, we do nothing until tons of killings occur, no proactiveness!
I lived with someone not known to me TO BEGIN WITH who is borderline/narcissitic personality disordered, a slew of other behavioral issues, high in both disorders. she owned a shotgun constantly fully loaded in the trunk of her car, a concealed gun i call a saturday night special in her pants pocket, fully loaded all the time. my life was jeopardized that she coulda pulled the trigger in my sleep or awaken state because voices told her or otherwise. NO GUNS FOR MENTALLY ILL! GROW A PAIR CONGRESS!
@openupfresh Many people in the US feel you have to be crazy not to own a gun. I do not know a single person from Military or police that do not own a gun. Hmm looks like we only employ crazy people to protect us.
As for these people not answering questions this is constant with many elected officials. Its simply how it is were people are elected by a campaign and not on personal merit and facts. We created these officials. Now we have to deal with them. Everything our Gov. does is allowed by the people. Roughly 310 million people in the US no way could we be overruled by our Gov. Thing is we are allowed to have differing opinions, and we do.
How could it ever be bad to read the constitution in the government. It should be read every time they meet. It is the single most important document in the world to Americans. No matter your religion. Without that piece of paper you may not be allowed your religion. As for teaching christian creation theory It should be taught side by side with any widely accepted theory of our creation or were we came from. Global warming? Better safe than sorry IMO. Figure it out while spending responsibly.
@cmillerpa33 Every time they meet? Once? Good. Two times? Okay, fine. Three times? Mkay, this is nice, but when do we actually get to work? This is to completely waste time. Conservatives spent their time these past 2 years to filibuster, and now they're in charge of the house and they're still sitting on their hands. And Creationism is not even a scientific theory. You have to be able to test a theory. You can't do this with "intelligent design".
@donnyforte2 I never said that creationism is a scientific theory. It is a theory tho. Just as the evolution theory is a theory. The idea would be to show the theories of as many people as possible, and to allow our children to make a logical decision of which they support and why. As for reading the constitution. It isn't very long. I go to work 10 hours a day. It would take only a small amount of that to read the Constitution. If they wanted to do any work they would do it either way.
@cmillerpa33 No, you're talking about a hypothesis. A theory is a tested hypothesis. You cannot test creationism. It's a philosophical debate, not a scientific one. Science deals with testable theories.
@mintydent There's nothing to test with creationism. It's based on ignorance and wishful thinking. If science gets it wrong, they will admit it was wrong. That's the difference between religion and science. One doesn't claim to know everything. Science class is about testable theories. Not to fill in gaps "just because".
Just because I think there's microscopic troll in my anus that controls the universe, doesn't make it a theory.
@donnyforte2 Evolution is not proven. It is a crazy idea just like creationism. They are equally far fetched. So the theory of evolution in your definition of theory isn't a theory. There is no scientific proof for these there is only speculation.
There are actually many definitions of theory. "Theory: a speculative or conjectural view or idea" This is what evolution and creationism fall under. Am I the only youtuber who uses google before I comment to verify anything?
@donnyforte2 The real problem is not the word theory so much as the lack of proof. The burden of proof certainly doesn't fall on me. As I have simply stated I do not believe your wild evolution theories. So far you have replied as a christian would to the questioning of any part of his faith. This comes to my real point of conversing with you. Evolutionists are no better than creationists. You simply take another persons idea. No thought at all needed the thinking was done for you.
@donnyforte2 Also I think this funny. There are plenty of scientists who believe in creation. Evolution was created to do just what you say. Fill in the gaps. This is not even an argument. If you believe in evolution as fact you are no better than a creationist. You accept what you feel is right without actual proof.
You think there is a troll in your anus means you have not checked your anus. See a Dr. or a very good friend. :)
@donnyforte2 No, it makes it a hypothesis...a scientist would need to analyze the microscopic elements of your anus to find your universe controlling troll...If they didn't find it, it doesn't mean it was never there.
I'm an atheist, I don't believe in Creationism, or Scientology. But Science is a human creation. It's humans trying to understand the universe and the world around us. I think you're right in that there's nothing to test with creationism. It's based upon belief and opinions.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. (source archives dot gov )
In 2008 and 2010, the Supreme Court issued two Second Amendment decisions. In District of Columbia v. Heller (2008), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm, unconnected to service in a militia and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.
Additionally, the Court enumerated several longstanding prohibitions and restrictions on firearms possession that it found were consistent with the Second Amendment.
In McDonald v. Chicago (2010), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment limits State and local governments to the same extent that it limits the federal government
I have no problem with guns in the least, though I disagree with the first fools position on not thoroughly back grounding individuals with possible mental issues! John Boehner, YAWN! I'm shocked he didn't start crying. Tim Pawlenty? Yeah, I live in MN and that prick has done a horrible job with my state! A state that once set the standard in education! Now, it produces idiots like Michele Bachmann! That woman is legally retarded! Our society is doomed!
In regards to guns and the 2nd ammendment. I do not own a gun, dont like them, but I say we keep the 2nd until the police give up their guns
An unarmed populace and an armed constabulary is a recipe for tyranny, which is what they were trying to prevent. When the police come to your door, they think twice because they are not sure if you are armed. Imagine if they knew for certain that you did not, but they did? The field needs to be even one way or the other.
We have some a LOT of dumb, irresponsible and unstable Americans who vote for these politicians over and over. Yes, I find that really sad that this is happening in the country I call home... while it is your right to vote, you don't have to vote for everyone who say what you believe into.
"Every time we exhale, we exhale CO2." No shit. Does that change the fact that most climatologists think we're on a road to disaster, oil boy? Nope, it most certainly doesn't.
@exsinor HA! Ya, those fucks are retarded beyond comprehension....or are they liars? I'm going with a mix of the two. Palin is retarded for sure, and Boehner is unbalanced, but they probably know they're lying to some extent.
There is all lot of nuts on both sides. I believe in the 2nd amendment, but common sense says we should screen better so unstable people don't obtain dangerous weapons. But the problem is not one side or the other, it's both that has been corrupted by wall street, bankers, and corperations. The ones that said "greed is good", enjoy.
Yes. Because guns in the hands of racist, white/christian supremacist, ultra right-wing rednecks isn't bad enough. Now we should be giving them to schizophrenics and sociopaths.
@Killzoneguy117 "Because guns in the hands of racist, white/christian supremacist, ultra right-wing rednecks isn't bad enough. Now we should be giving them to schizophrenics and sociopaths."
The GOP has become a dumbed-down travesty of a political party, a front for the Christian Fundamentalists of the Religious Right and the social anarchists of the libertarian movement. Just the suggestion like people like those depicted in this video could conceivably produce constructive or positive change in our complex and shaded system is absurd on its face.
@elviolette Welcome to the same boat guy , I'm not a collector but a avid hunter and target shooter, I don't belong to NRA anymore, they just nickle & dime your ass to death and piss money off on people like Sarah Palin whos done more damage to responsable gun ownership with her ignorant mouth & graphics than the anti gun bunch has in 20 years, this grifter moron is a down fall to nearly everthing she touches !
@elviolette You know, I have been thinking that people like yourself (and me) should actually join the NRA in order to get people with some brains behind their lobbying efforts. If enough of us got in there we could have an effect... maybe? Too crazy to hope for?
too bad the ballot box is rigged.. I doubt if the 2010 election was real ...the media set up the dems r gonna lose big time then the voting machines were hacked like before.. it is odd to see all the closeted republican congressmen now.. Jason Chaffetz needs to come out maybe then his brain will be freed to stop the madness
excellent video. concise and painful to watch. as much as the teabaggers want to frame the 2010 mid terms as some sort of movement, it's nothing more than social conservatives pushing an even more radical brand of their right wing culture war.
You could probably do one of these videos a week anyone. I used to think Republicans were decent people who just happened to disagree with me. They've gone so far off the cliff now it's not even funny. The day recently they told me my rape didn't count as rape because the man was only convicted of statutory rape due to me not telling right away so no physical evidence = the day I decided I'll NEVER vote for someone with an R next to their name.
Competing theories, right...like Astronomy and Astrology...
There's no theory to I.D. Its just a hypothesis and a failed one, since its been around for decades and no evidence has been able to back it up.
Evolution by Natural Selection, on the other hand, is a scientific theory more rigorously tested than any other, and it has always stood up to scrutiny.
Thanks for sending this to me. This type of information is often missed in the news cycle and its up to us to spread this type of news to others. Visit my site sometime and let me know what you think.
Seriously, does anyone really believe the government can stop criminals or the mentally unstable from getting guns? They will find a way regardless of the laws. We the law abiding citizens will be left to the mercy of the laws and the government's opinion of who is defined as mentally unstable. Do you really want to keep giving them this much power over us? Tell me who gets to decide and how someone is deemed unstable, then I might agree with the terms. Can we trust them to abide by the terms?
@Exposingthetruth41 just because we cannt stop everyone from getting a gun who shouldnt doesnt mean we just give up. I say let the docs do their job and tell us who isnt stable.
@kokofan50 I agree, but good luck getting the government to let the doctors to do their job. I hope it works, but I still feel this will be manipulated in someway in the future. I hope I am wrong.
Funny how one little amendment, clearly designed for occasional militia use only, somehow snowballed into everyone waving guns around, including RETARDS - and by that I mean politicians!
@KingKunta83 We might quit buying school textbooks from the State of Texas, whose academic standards are as cut-rate as Governor Rick "Good Hair" Perry's ethics. To save money, school districts end up teaching out of texts which are full of errors and outright editorial hogswill. The result, over time, is a populace who think Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann are competent to hold elected office. Swell, no?
Good video...thanks for sharing. I love how it exposes some real nuts from the right wing. That first guy doesn't even seem to care that a little was killed because of his "unlimited freedom." It's not about freedom; it's about saving lives.
Alright step 1 should be the complete ban of concealable weapons like handguns, as they are useless for killing deer, and a shotgun or rifle would suffice for personal defense. Step 2 should be an increase in screening checks, including fingerprint screenings, to limit criminals from owning a gun. This would crack down alot. But of course "small government" will be preached from the right, even though they fight massive wars, plan to stop abortion, and support big brother policies. 'small gov!'
However I agree with the screening idea. I mean, the black market will be selling machine guns left and right, but regulating weapons from our department stores through certain licenses is a great thing to do to keep our kids and families safe from nuts.... at least hypothetically. Screening to get a gun license for a certain weapon is a good idea even though I really don't like going through all of that crap its necessary for safety without penalizing the public.
it is very hard to make sure the few crazy people in our cities don't get their hands on a gun. However, locking down and making sure nobody gets a gun is penalizing everybody just because a couple nutjobs fucked up. Its like saying we should close down every school because one kid in some random state got beat up there so we should close down all schools so our kids are safe. NO, just because there was a horrible event at one place doesn't mean we should penalize everyone.
@sk8bow You're right, and step one is to make sure the crazy bastards who DO pull the trigger never get their hands on an assault rifle, or extended mag. again. You don't need an AK47 to hunt deer or defend your house, a 10 round .45, or a bolt action rifle will do just fine, if not better.
The 2nd Amendment says "A well regulated Militia". Why do right-wingers never want to mention that? The right of the people to keep and bear arms must never be infringed, but the conditions and kind of arms has to be regulated so that irrational people don't go around shooting people willy-nilly.
If you support constitutional right to own guns then, when the constitution was made guns could hold 1 bullet, so keep only 1 bullet guns legal. so much reloading will make indiscriminate killings less lethal, difficult and give authorities more time to gain control of the situation. For people using guns for hunting may be a few bullets but not allowed to be carried in civilian areas.
The problem is Guns are so good at killing people with the current tech that a braindead person or a child could kill any one with them. The US constitution allowed the right to carry and own guns hundreds of years ago, both circumstances and Guns have changed.Guns make a hostile situation equation deadly.
If you could outlaw all Americans from buying a gun who has ever had a prescription for just Zoloft or any of the other uptake inhibitors the Doctors hand out like candy for the masses, you could disarm half the legal armed population.. To many people are on these sort of crap drugs for the smallest of stresses it could back fire and take there right to bear arms.. The real truth is they want all your rights taken away anyway they can get them..Hey slaves the sick part is they want you to agree.
GUNS EVERYWHERE!! YEA EVERYONE SHOULD OWN A GUN AND CARRY IT EVERYWHERE SINCE WE ALL KNOW THAT WILL ACTUALLY PREVENT CRIME!!! WOOOO CONSERVATIVE LOGIC!!!!!!
Same rhetoric, same bullshit, different day. The Republicans will give us another trip down memory lane with disaster after disaster.
Representative Michelle Bachman should explain to everyone in America why her family has been the recipient of over $200,000 in Farm Subsidies. The last time I checked wasn't that considered a Hand Out or Welfare?
I support the 2nd amendment fully, but isn't it common sense to keep guns away from people who are prone to irrational thought and mental instability. This gets tricky, especially with some of the gun control laws proposed like keeping guns away from everyone. However, gun control like that resticts the citizen, not the criminal, because if they can guns illegally like they do everything else. That last bit may be off topis, but it seemed somewhat relevant to the topic of guns.
Thanks for sharing. But as I didn't vote for anyone of these two faced, supercilious, evil, bastards I am not surprised seeing this. Of course the first guy's not going to call for more gun control, the GOP's head is up the NRA's ass!
I wish the press could just chuck propriety and manners out the window. "Yes or no, ass h@le, answer the question...Yes...or ...NO....simple as that and don't say ANYTHING else or I am going to call you out as a brown nosing jerk in front of everyone."
between the dumbed down US population and the corporate lies / propaganda/ buying of congress there isn't much hope this country will last in a form that can be recognized as a free democracy..a 3rd world corporate police state yes
We need to do something for our future. You are 500 times more likely to be killed by a hand gun than a riffle. Most people hunt with riffles & bows. Hand guns are for violence. Statistics indicate that you are way more likely to be killed by your own gun rather than a stranger, not to mention it is much easier for a chlild to have a fata accidental discharge, they can't even hold a riffle. AND many criminals purposely break in to homes that have guns they can steal.
@rickbar123 ha ha usually i don't like name calling, but this guy, well, an exception can be made. How come he denies tanning? And how can he have such control over his crying. Thousands of Americans will die and have died from no health care, yet he doesn't cry. We are loosing over 70 million dollars a day on 2 wars, yet no tears. Disabled Veterans waiting for years for their benefits, no tears. I am so tired of Oligarchy. I mean we just gave more tax breaks to millionaires.
We need a separation of Corporations & State, just like we have a separation between Church and State. Eliminating the pressure from the GUN Lobby, now that I think about it also a separatino between non-profit & state, NO NRA lobby either, if citizens want to lobby for guns then GREAT! Our working poor & middle class shouldn'thave to compete with corporations lobbiests, any citizen should have as much acess to our reps as lobbiests!
Eliminate the pressure from the GUN lobby? Can we please start with AIPAC? Or Halliburton? Or GoldmanSachs? The GUN lobby is the only one fighting to preserve the rights of Americans!
I like how this video shows politicians being verbose in their answers to simple questions. For one of them however, (Chaffetz?), on guns - I think his point was that he wasn't interested in a special law protecting legislators with a 1,000 foot gun free buffer (which criminals would ignore anyway). He was more interested in legislation that would protect anybody.
Restricting access to guns for the mentally impaired just makes sense. Some restriction might have helped at Virginia Tech.
@mitchreno1 Exactly, those against responsible gun laws are affraid all the smart educated liberals are going to take their weapons away because they know they are mentally impaired themselves w/ their GED mind. DONT they remember the Republican President that took all their weapons during Hurrican Katrina, they took everyone's weapons regardless of race or economic status, left people defenseless & Defense is what pro gun folk utilize 2 rationalize their anti-restriction point of view
Our right to keep and bear guns is for the establishment of state malitias. Notice the word STATE. This is the National Guard. Not a bunch of people who never read the Constitution.
Anyone who thinks that their right to carry a weapon will make them safe, as this first man implies, has never been in a situation that would test this belief. If you have a person attacking you, you are already dealing with an unstable person who has no sense of the danger of his actions, so your gun is not going to stop him. How accurately do you think you are going to shoot in such a situation? You are going to be jacked up on adrenaline and shaking. He'll take your gun and use it on you.
@ickybird Anybody who draws a gun has to be ready to use it. Otherwise the other shooter will get you. And if you do fire the gun, get ready for the biggest legal hassle of your life and probable imprisonment.
What the fuck is the guy at the beginning saying? Shame on him and everyone else who gets away with ignoring this fundamental issue. Go jack off to your guns on your own time, I've had enough of this.
@jx14aby There isn't only one slippery slope. There is one both ways, and no default reason to assume it will go down either one of them. There is the slippery slope of taking away all guns: not going to happen. Then there is the slippery slope of running around with bazookas and fully automatic machine guns--also not going to happen.
Beware of people saying beware of the slippery slope: it most often leads to stagnation of rational discourse and social progress.
@jx14aby And who the fuck put YOU in charge of anything? With your lame, predictable, bumptious little quips. You commit the logical fallacy of appeal to authority, being vague references to the constitution which a civilized and rational populous are to discuss and interpret. You don't have a monopoly on its interpretation, and you don't have the market cornered on humor either.
I have an application for a concealed weapon's permit from the City of Alhambra in California. Know what it says? It says that carrying a concealed weapon is a privilege. Yes, a privilege. So the "right" to keep and bear arms is gone. If you carry a loaded gun in CA, it is a crime anytime. If you carry a concealed weapon, it is a crime whether loaded or unloaded.
Your right to carry a weapon to defend yourself is GONE - at least in CA.
@jx14aby So in other words you now have a concealed weapon, but you had some bureaucracy first. It's not water, it's an item of technology that can be used extremely easily to kill people, as occurred in this tragedy. Stop asking me the rhetorical question, and ask yourself if you want any nut having easy unbridled access to pieces of technology, brought to us by science, not political ideology, that can blow the back of someone's head off? You're on the wrong side of the slippery slope, not me.
No. The application's not filed. I'm informed they are routinely denied. We'll see. A young male hispanic, 12 years old, has his life threatened by gang members. They're out to get him, and have let himk know that by pointing their fingers and making shooting gestures. They drive by his house.
Now, he decides to carry a gun to protect himself. If caught by the people who want to kill him, he can defend himself. If caught by the police, he is a criminal
@jx14aby I see your point. If we were being fully rational here, we'd acknowledge that the problem is the prevalence of dangerous weapons and general social pathology. The underlying root cause of the problem is not solved, hut made worse, by the further proliferation of guns. Imagine a scenario where we are in a restaurant. In restaurants you have knives. Crazy and bad people might come in to stab us, therefore we should eat in cages, and/or carry loaded guns into Red Lobster.
I think about it all the time. The gang members don't care about concealed weapons laws. They're packing. They shoot each other every day. Some times it's hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys. Like Joe Zamudio. But if I carry a gun, and a cop finds it, I go to jail. Maybe I'll share a cell with the gangmembers.
I felt like you for many years. Then I read U.S. vs. Heller and bought my first gun.
@jx14aby Move to Arizona or Texas then you can even carry a concealed weapon in a bar & church U R correct gangs are problematic BUT it is important not to move in hopeless scapegoat mode Want to get rid of gangs you attack poverty and some of the bias & worthless drug laws. I was a federal CO we spend around 45,000 dollars per year for each inmate in federal prison. We need to take that money and put it in middle class & working class programs like health care & scholarships& more police.
@jx14aby The problem here is a failure to have a real, rational and scientific approach and discussion to solving social ills. The solution is not a game theory style arms race. A dangerous environment surely would be cause for protection, but as a social rule I think not. That is the dangerous slippery slope. Take the worst case scenarios, the basest fears of people, and make an argument for having easy access to killing machines?
I watched the video (and the commercial). You direct me to a TheYoungTurks video? Am I really supposed to find that informative. Watching another TV personality yell about a thirty round clip?
Give me a break. If Loughner went postal in a Buick LaSabre and mowed down twenty people, killing ten, you'd be calling for weight limits on cars.
@jx14aby What? That doesn't even make any sense what you just said, none at all. Stop making moronic comments and telling people to move to Denmark. You really fail to see the basic necessity of restricting certain types of weapons, and certain types of people from weapons, and as for your comment about 'whatever I can carry', you've just hurled yourself right down the slippery slope people like to invoke for the converse argument. I can carry a bazooka. This is fucking ridiculous.
I fail to see the basic necessity of restricting certain types of weapons. That's right. I don't see it. Your way just means the government's going to decide who is worthy of defending themselves. Sorry, the Bill of Rights already gave me that right.
@jx14aby I fail to see why certain types of weapons shouldn't be restricted. In fact the byproduct of certain weapons and person profiles has the very intended byproduct of living in a safer, freer, lower risk environment, whereas their total proliferation has the reverse effect, especially when so easily and unquestioningly accessible in the hands of nut cases.
Your freedom to swing your fist stops at the next person's nose, and they should have the freedom to live in fear of that.
@jx14aby *the freedom 'not' to live in fear of that.
It's profoundly disturbing to me that you think no weapons should be restricted, what about IED's, mines, napalm, anti-tank rockets, fully automatic machine guns, and what about even atomic and depleted uranium based weapons? And entire war with a country was supposedly predicated on WMDs in the hands of psychos and you're saying you 'fail' to see any necessity for restriction. That's just a failure of rationality and imagination.
@jx14aby That is incorrect 3 states don't require a waiting period or application, it is more like a sign-in book to purchase a gun in Arizona. We should have serious waiting periods and serious applications, not just ones that go to a data base. And why are the Republicans blocking the tracking of bullets, the companies can easily engrave tracers to after a murder they can investigate the origin. Everyone in my family has a gun & bows for hunting Elk & deer. NONE have hand guns.
"We should have serious waiting periods and serious applications" so that the government can decide who is worthy of the right to carry a firearm to defend themselves. Oops, there went the Second Amendment. Adios amigo!
@Neanderthalcouzin You just can't argue logically with these people, beacause they are operating out of emotion, specifically fear. Their only actual come backs are memorized from FOX News & gut reactions with out critical thinking. However it is nice to read someone actually debating in facts and critical thinking. Thanks, I think this following video made an extremely important point on this issue, and shows the wider social and economic context that hinders rational discussion. It shows a politician unwilling to concede the most basic, logical point about access to increased magazine size and weaponry--because he is both ideologically and financially bound.I think conservatives are often on the wrong side of most social issues, and I would like rational people to start pointing this out
I refuse to watch foxnews on general principles. I am not a republican. I didn't write the Bill of Rights, but I have taken an oath to support the Constitution. If you want to take away rights, prepare for battle.

@MyTotalRemedy that's not a French flag...the stripes on a French flag are vertical, not horizontal. I suppose that doesn't really matter much, these days. Kinda falls in line with everything else we hear these days...here in Houston, the sky is green, Obama is a Muslim...and the French flag has horizontal lines.

you can get a gun if you are mentally unstable, but if you go to court for a gun related problem, there is a law that says that if you have ever been involuntarily admited to a mental institution you were not supposed to have bought that gun. so the law is out there, I don't know what you are talking about.

So what your saying is that a mental person will check the "Yes" box that says:
[sic] "Have you ever suffered from a mental disorder or blah blah blah...?"
Gimme a break. (facepalm)
xetlive 1 year ago
@xetlive And what are you going to do, illnesses are confidential by law and by the constitution, nobody can check a person's medical record, you have to go by what the person writes in the application. anyway, it doesn't really matter, I had a mental disorder my whole life, I only made it known to doctors by the age of 34 when I started hearing too much voices too often and I needed medication to controll it. society is full of "crazy" people, your boss might be one and you don't know it
affiliate30 1 year ago
@affiliate30
I didn't like making other people lots of money.

cmillerpa33 1 year ago
As for these people not answering questions this is constant with many elected officials. Its simply how it is were people are elected by a campaign and not on personal merit and facts. We created these officials. Now we have to deal with them. Everything our Gov. does is allowed by the people. Roughly 310 million people in the US no way could we be overruled by our Gov. Thing is we are allowed to have differing opinions, and we do.
cmillerpa33 1 year ago
How could it ever be bad to read the constitution in the government. It should be read every time they meet. It is the single most important document in the world to Americans. No matter your religion. Without that piece of paper you may not be allowed your religion. As for teaching christian creation theory It should be taught side by side with any widely accepted theory of our creation or were we came from. Global warming? Better safe than sorry IMO. Figure it out while spending responsibly.
cmillerpa33 1 year ago
@cmillerpa33 Every time they meet? Once? Good. Two times? Okay, fine. Three times? Mkay, this is nice, but when do we actually get to work? This is to completely waste time. Conservatives spent their time these past 2 years to filibuster, and now they're in charge of the house and they're still sitting on their hands. And Creationism is not even a scientific theory. You have to be able to test a theory. You can't do this with "intelligent design".
donnyforte2 1 year ago
@donnyforte2 I never said that creationism is a scientific theory. It is a theory tho. Just as the evolution theory is a theory. The idea would be to show the theories of as many people as possible, and to allow our children to make a logical decision of which they support and why. As for reading the constitution. It isn't very long. I go to work 10 hours a day. It would take only a small amount of that to read the Constitution. If they wanted to do any work they would do it either way.
cmillerpa33 1 year ago
@cmillerpa33 No, you're talking about a hypothesis. A theory is a tested hypothesis. You cannot test creationism. It's a philosophical debate, not a scientific one. Science deals with testable theories.
donnyforte2 1 year ago
@donnyforte2 Theories change all the time...so-called 'facts' change. Science deals with testable theories as well as untestable theories.
mintydent 1 year ago 2
@mintydent There's nothing to test with creationism. It's based on ignorance and wishful thinking. If science gets it wrong, they will admit it was wrong. That's the difference between religion and science. One doesn't claim to know everything. Science class is about testable theories. Not to fill in gaps "just because".
Just because I think there's microscopic troll in my anus that controls the universe, doesn't make it a theory.
donnyforte2 1 year ago
@donnyforte2 Evolution is not proven. It is a crazy idea just like creationism. They are equally far fetched. So the theory of evolution in your definition of theory isn't a theory. There is no scientific proof for these there is only speculation.
There are actually many definitions of theory. "Theory: a speculative or conjectural view or idea" This is what evolution and creationism fall under. Am I the only youtuber who uses google before I comment to verify anything?

donnyforte2 1 year ago
@donnyforte2 The real problem is not the word theory so much as the lack of proof. The burden of proof certainly doesn't fall on me. As I have simply stated I do not believe your wild evolution theories. So far you have replied as a christian would to the questioning of any part of his faith. This comes to my real point of conversing with you. Evolutionists are no better than creationists. You simply take another persons idea. No thought at all needed the thinking was done for you.
cmillerpa33 1 year ago
@cmillerpa33 "The real problem is not the word theory so much as the lack of proof."
Like what?
"This comes to my real point of conversing with you."
That you have no idea what scientific theory is? And claim that creationism is just that?
donnyforte2 1 year ago
@donnyforte2 Also I think this funny. There are plenty of scientists who believe in creation. Evolution was created to do just what you say. Fill in the gaps. This is not even an argument. If you believe in evolution as fact you are no better than a creationist. You accept what you feel is right without actual proof.
You think there is a troll in your anus means you have not checked your anus. See a Dr. or a very good friend. :)
cmillerpa33 1 year ago
@cmillerpa33 "There are plenty of scientists who believe in creation."
Plenty... I know of a few (and they actually support and understand evolution)... unless you're including "Christian scientists".
donnyforte2 1 year ago
@donnyforte2 No, it makes it a hypothesis...a scientist would need to analyze the microscopic elements of your anus to find your universe controlling troll...If they didn't find it, it doesn't mean it was never there.
I'm an atheist, I don't believe in Creationism, or Scientology. But Science is a human creation. It's humans trying to understand the universe and the world around us. I think you're right in that there's nothing to test with creationism. It's based upon belief and opinions.

In 2008 and 2010, the Supreme Court issued two Second Amendment decisions. In District of Columbia v. Additionally, the Court enumerated several longstanding prohibitions and restrictions on firearms possession that it found were consistent with the Second Amendment.

Andy180084 1 year ago
You know this first guy is a total paranoid. Does he really need to carry a concealed weapon?

However I agree with the screening idea. I mean, the black market will be selling machine guns left and right, but regulating weapons from our department stores through certain licenses is a great thing to do to keep our kids and families safe from nuts.... at least hypothetically. Screening to get a gun license for a certain weapon is a good idea even though I really don't like going through all of that crap its necessary for safety without penalizing the public.
Takiado 1 year ago
it is very hard to make sure the few crazy people in our cities don't get their hands on a gun. However, locking down and making sure nobody gets a gun is penalizing everybody just because a couple nutjobs fucked up. NO, just because there was a horrible event at one place doesn't mean we should penalize everyone.

The 2nd Amendment says "A well regulated Militia". Why do right-wingers never want to mention that? The right of the people to keep and bear arms must never be infringed, but the conditions and kind of arms has to be regulated so that irrational people don't go around shooting people willy-nilly.
ankharris 1 year ago
If you support constitutional right to own guns then, when the constitution was made guns could hold 1 bullet, so keep only 1 bullet guns legal. so much reloading will make indiscriminate killings less lethal, difficult and give authorities more time to gain control of the situation. For people using guns for hunting may be a few bullets but not allowed to be carried in civilian areas.
sushanalone 1 year ago
The problem is Guns are so good at killing people with the current tech that a braindead person or a child could kill any one with them.

@Mesheekah I want to leave America. Just the fact that these freaks got in spells the death of this country.

Tlexiktli2010 1 year ago
@Tlexiktli2010

Some restriction might have helped at Virginia Tech.
mitchreno1 1 year ago
@mitchreno1 Exactly, those against responsible gun laws are affraid all the smart educated liberals are going to take their weapons away because they know they are mentally impaired themselves w/ their GED mind. DONT they remember the Republican President that took all their weapons during Hurrican Katrina, they took everyone's weapons regardless of race or economic status, left people defenseless & Defense is what pro gun folk utilize 2 rationalize their anti-restriction point of view
Tlexiktli2010 1 year ago
Our right to keep and bear guns is for the establishment of state malitias. Notice the word STATE. This is the National Guard. Not a bunch of people who never read the Constitution.
ickybird 1 year ago
Anyone who thinks that their right to carry a weapon will make them safe, as this first man implies, has never been in a situation that would test this belief. If you have a person attacking you, you are already dealing with an unstable person who has no sense of the danger of his actions, so your gun is not going to stop him. How accurately do you think you are going to shoot in such a situation? You are going to be jacked up on adrenaline and shaking. He'll take your gun and use it on you.
ickybird 1 year ago
@ickybird Anybody who draws a gun has to be ready to use it. Otherwise the other shooter will get you. And if you do fire the gun, get ready for the biggest legal hassle of your life and probable imprisonment.
bodryn 1 year ago
What the fuck is the guy at the beginning saying? Shame on him and everyone else who gets away with ignoring this fundamental issue. Go jack off to your guns on your own time, I've had enough of this.

Move to Denmark. I hear they've got the kind of gun laws you favor.
jx14aby 1 year ago
@jx14aby There isn't only one slippery slope. There is one both ways, and no default reason to assume it will go down either one of them. There is the slippery slope of taking away all guns: not going to happen. Then there is the slippery slope of running around with bazookas and fully automatic machine guns--also not going to happen.
Beware of people saying beware of the slippery slope: it most often leads to stagnation of rational discourse and social progress.

Feel better?
jx14aby 1 year ago
@jx14aby So in other words you now have a concealed weapon, but you had some bureaucracy first. It's not water, it's an item of technology that can be used extremely easily to kill people, as occurred in this tragedy. Stop asking me the rhetorical question, and ask yourself if you want any nut having easy unbridled access to pieces of technology, brought to us by science, not political ideology, that can blow the back of someone's head off? You're on the wrong side of the slippery slope, not me.
Neanderthalcouzin 1 year ago
@Neanderthalcouzin
If caught by the police, he is a criminal
jx14aby 1 year ago
@jx14aby I see your point. If we were being fully rational here, we'd acknowledge that the problem is the prevalence of dangerous weapons and general social pathology. The underlying root cause of the problem is not solved, hut made worse, by the further proliferation of guns. Imagine a scenario where we are in a restaurant. In restaurants you have knives. Crazy and bad people might come in to stab us, therefore we should eat in cages, and/or carry loaded guns into Red Lobster.
Neanderthalcouzin 1 year ago
@Neanderthalcouzin
Then I read U.S. vs. Heller and bought my first gun.
jx14aby 1 year ago
@jx14aby Move to Arizona or Texas then you can even carry a concealed weapon in a bar & church U R correct gangs are problematic BUT it is important not to move in hopeless scapegoat mode Want to get rid of gangs you attack poverty and some of the bias & worthless drug laws. I was a federal CO we spend around 45,000 dollars per year for each inmate in federal prison. We need to take that money and put it in middle class & working class programs like health care & scholarships& more police.
Tlexiktli2010 1 year ago
@Tlexiktli2010
Why should I have to move? I'm an American.
jx14aby 1 year ago
@jx14aby The problem here is a failure to have a real, rational and scientific approach and discussion to solving social ills. The solution is not a game theory style arms race. A dangerous environment surely would be cause for protection, but as a social rule I think not. That is the dangerous slippery slope. Take the worst case scenarios, the basest fears of people, and make an argument for having easy access to killing machines?

I watched the video (and the commercial). You direct me to a TheYoungTurks video? Am I really supposed to find that informative. Watching another TV personality yell about a thirty round clip?
Give me a break. If Loughner went postal in a Buick LaSabre and mowed down twenty people, killing ten, you'd be calling for weight limits on cars.
jx14aby 1 year ago
@jx14aby What? That doesn't even make any sense what you just said, none at all. Stop making moronic comments and telling people to move to Denmark. You really fail to see the basic necessity of restricting certain types of weapons, and certain types of people from weapons, and as for your comment about 'whatever I can carry', you've just hurled yourself right down the slippery slope people like to invoke for the converse argument. I can carry a bazooka. This is fucking ridiculous.
Neanderthalcouzin 1 year ago
@Neanderthalcouzin
I fail to see the basic necessity of restricting certain types of weapons. That's right. I don't see it. Your way just means the government's going to decide who is worthy of defending themselves. Sorry, the Bill of Rights already gave me that right.
jx14aby 1 year ago
@jx14aby I fail to see why certain types of weapons shouldn't be restricted. In fact the byproduct of certain weapons and person profiles has the very intended byproduct of living in a safer, freer, lower risk environment, whereas their total proliferation has the reverse effect, especially when so easily and unquestioningly accessible in the hands of nut cases.
Your freedom to swing your fist stops at the next person's nose, and they should have the freedom to live in fear of that.
Neanderthalcouzin 1 year ago
@jx14aby *the freedom 'not' to live in fear of that.
It's profoundly disturbing to me that you think no weapons should be restricted, what about IED's, mines, napalm, anti-tank rockets, fully automatic machine guns, and what about even atomic and depleted uranium based weapons? And entire war with a country was supposedly predicated on WMDs in the hands of psychos and you're saying you 'fail' to see any necessity for restriction. That's just a failure of rationality and imagination.
Neanderthalcouzin 1 year ago
@jx14aby That is incorrect 3 states don't require a waiting period or application, it is more like a sign-in book to purchase a gun in Arizona. We should have serious waiting periods and serious applications, not just ones that go to a data base. And why are the Republicans blocking the tracking of bullets, the companies can easily engrave tracers to after a murder they can investigate the origin. Everyone in my family has a gun & bows for hunting Elk & deer. NONE have hand guns.
Tlexiktli2010 1 year ago
@Tlexiktli2010

Tlexiktli2010 1 year ago
