I think that's too fine a point for the American people, and I'm not sure it's a winning distinction anyway. The success of The Surge is all in framing, in who gets to determine what success is. Let the Republicans define what success in Iraq is and I think you'll find them able to make a compelling argument that they can better achieve that success. The argument over whether The Surge was a success or not is central both to understanding our Iraq mission and to dismantling the Mcsame campaign.

I think that's too fine a point for the American people, and I'm not sure it's a winning distinction anyway. The success of The Surge is all in framing, in who gets to determine what success is. Let the Republicans define what success in Iraq is and I think you'll find them able to make a compelling argument that they can better achieve that success. The argument over whether The Surge was a success or not is central both to understanding our Iraq mission and to dismantling the Mcsame campaign.

I've reviewed some of Obama's responses, and he's actually making both arguments against McCain: 1)questioning the amount of credit due the surge, citing "other factors", e.g., the Awakening and gov forces acting against insurgents, and 2) putting the war within the larger context of US regional interests, and citing the lack of good judgment in attacking Iraq at all, while crippling the more important effort in Afgh'tan which remains to be finished, and has undoubtedly been made more difficult.

McCain holds the EXACT same position on these issues as George W Bush. He is NOT Bush, but also agrees with Bush's positions on Iran, foreign policy, healthcare, & permanent tax cuts for the top 3% wage earners. Too many similarities on important issues...

I do not understand why people are reading so much into Barack Obama's decision not to meet with wounded troops. Just because he chooses not to meet with them doesnt mean he doesnt care about them or appreciate thier service and sacrifice.
The McCain campaign is in despeation mode and is willing to go to any lengnths neccessary to damage Obama's character.
Have you noticed that the Obama capaign rarely issues ads attacking John McCain?
