A good example of WC straight punch. This guy is more than likely a beginner. His legs are straight, his guard is down and there is no footwork. He saw an opening and took it. I cant understand how anyone can say WC does not "work". The fighter might not be able to fight, but WC as a system is probably the most efficient and lethal. A good WC fighter who does not blind or break bones of the attacker in the first two strikes is holding back.

I would to an extent, but then I'd have to eventually stand my ground, not physically but in the argument. 50-50 chance it'd be slightly aggressive. If he actually does practice Wing Chun, you learn to be patient and non-aggressive. You KNOW you're a deadly weapon, so there's really nothing that can annoy you.

@thefallenone600 I know thats taught in wing chun but I believe very very few people would actually follow it in all honesty. I would to an extent, but then I'd have to eventually stand my ground, not physically but in the argument. 50-50 chance it'd be slightly aggressive. But if he put his hands on me then I'd go further because at that point I won't take a chance cause he obviously would have aggressive intent.

@meow91able I'm a wing chun practitioner... But I already was more like how wing chuns philosiphy encourages you to be. But this is an obvious form of aggression towards you, a obvious ill intent. You know he's going to eventually try and hit you really, and part of the idea is to try and not allow them that first hit. I'm not saying hit everyone that yells at you, but if they yell for 5 minutes straight aggressivly you know it'll happen whether it's you or them.

I have been in wing chun for 7 years now and it teaches you to have patience and just because we know how to fight does not mean were going to beat people up we try and let the situation pass if things get a little over comfort then we attack but only when really needed and we don't continue if they retreat

I bet after the punk and his friends still yelled profanities while driving by or other cowardly deeds. I don't know if that was wing chun but it was some form of martial art not just a human reaction. I know martial artist are suppose to be peaceful but being in my face is like an assault to me I'd had have to take him down sooner.

@eddieq1905 I think this guy was a fool who allowed an aggressor to invade his personal space and actually lay hands on him for far too long before responding. when he was grabbed behind the neck his ear could have been torn, he could have been elbowed, etc. anyone coming at you with that level of aggression should be put down much sooner much harder.

@sifujosh You make a great point, but you have to admit that guy had excellent self control. Only a real man can have self control like he had. Also Martial Arts is for self defense, it should never be used to make the first strike....most Martial Art masters/sifus preach that. I say he did the right thing by waiting for the aggressor to actually make a move on him

@mastergun46 No you could be wrong, he doesnt do the form of Wing Chun that you practice but there is a straight punch in Wing Chun, and there are different styles and points of view on teaching wing chun, alot of people say that there shouldnt be a high kick in wing chun, and alot of other people do use high kicks in wing chun.
