  • worst sonic the hedgehog player I have ever seen.

  • @9:25: Victoly!!! haha

  • thats bitchin

  • Very nice cab...4 Player, Spinner, and Track ball. Very Cool.

For some reason I have yet to see a mame cab with a light gun or or steering wheel though. Now that would be the ultimate cab!!! I have seen them with some cool cup holders, lighting effects and cup holders though.

  • nice control panel

  • Why 6 buttons for the outside players? ..are there any games that have 6 play buttons for 4 players?

  • roms on my channel have a look!!!

  • Put the Killer Instinct arcade emulator and ROM on there! :)

  • What operating system do you got? I heard the 9200 has some osd problems with Windows for some reason.

  • It's running 64bit win xp

  • @CRADthebarbarian I would probablly run Linux for Mame...

  • nice do you have a build thread anywhere?

  • one word: JEALOUS =D

  • Thats outstanding. Build me one dude.

  • Do you have to download a certain version of the games in order for them to be 4 player compatible? I'm building one and I'm trying to decide if I want 4 or 2 player controls

  • Some games are meant for 4 players while others for 2. For example, Gauntlet is a 4 player game as most people remember it. But Atari did make 2 player versions that lets you choose characters. Same goes for The Simpsons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc.

  • So you can just upload the files and you dont have to buy the boards and stuff?

  • yah

  • Nice cabinet man. I'm having trouble running Maximus on my cabinet. I made a video about it, if you could help, it would be much appreciated.

    /watch?v=DSTfKkH-06s

    Thanks.

  • how much would this be like all ready to go and to just plug in?

  • Ive seen machines like this for between 2000 and 2500 dollars on ebay. . .

  • I have a question. What is this software that allows you to load different roms? I understand that is some kind of front end but can you tell me where can i donwload it or at least the name of it.

  • The front end just launches other emulators. I'm using MALA. It doesn't load any of the roms. For example C64 games I'm using mala to launch Vice. For NES, I'm using Nester. For arcade games, I'm using MAME. ...

  • great work

  • Hey, are you using a standard joystick to play afterburner, or have you installed a flight yoke?

  • it´s the most beatifull thing that I ever seen.... I really want one of this gabinet on my place.... I´ve been dreaming with thtat since I have 10 years old

  • BTW, I almost forgot... for building your own cabinet, the best video I have see on youtube (by a long margin) is the video response from "tubefr71". He's put together a two part series of how to videos that anyone considering building their own should watch.

  • Did you create the control panel or did you purchase it?

I myself have a cabinet but the CP is so far my main stumbling block.

  • the entire cabinet was from the now defunct Slik Stik.

  • Whats the website to this defunct slik stik i see you talking about.` I did a search on google and nothing came up.

  • So if the company is defunct ...

  • hey what sound system did you use is it in the cabinet?

  • It's a basic 2.1 setup from Soundblaster. It has external controls to adjust volume and bass levels. The speakers are Sony Xplod XS-R1311 5" 160 watts 5 1/4". They're relatively cheap, sound great and fits in the premade holes from Slik Stik.

  • this is exactly how i wanted to build a cabinet

  • How you get the covers for the emulaters, were the picture of the game can be showed when you are picking them.

  • how much those a minitor like this one cost?

  • If you use a real arcade monitor, maybe $100-300. this is a computer ready (VGA) monitor that can sync to low refresh and resolution and run around $400-500.

  • i can see one of the problems with this is the cycling through the list of games.. if you have all of them on the cabinet it takes some skill to find the one you want quickly

  • Does the front end come with all thoes games? When you run the program the first time is that the only program that will come up on the computure or do you have to click on the file to run it every time? And finally where did you get the front end (Program)?

  • SWEET set up! Can you play vertical mame games on that monitor? Do they look OK?

Are you using ArcadeVGA card? Does it run at the correct vertical sync for each game?

  • yeah it looks great. I'm using something called soft15khz. look it up, try it, and then donate. Look at my other videos and search for "native vs scaled". you can see that it works as well as arcadevga but without having to take the performance hit of a subpar video card that it's based on.

  • You're so right. I hooked up my old ATI x850XT PCI-E and it works perfectly with soft15kHz - even with the latest ATI drivers under Vista (obviously I'll be using TinyXP for my arcade machine though)

    Cheers

  • Glad it worked out. One caveat that I guess you didn't run into is that right now soft15khz doesn't appear to work in vista 64bit. :-(

  • Did you try running it as Administrator? That's what I had to do to get it working in Vista32.

It's a very simple program. I reckon I could make an x64 version if it doesn't work.

  • Yes and also the author sailor_sat said it doesn't work in x64 vista.

  • At 5:50 - sounds lilke you were trying to get the '30 men Contra code' to work...lol

  • Very nice cabinet, I'm looking into building my own and have a question or two for you. I noticed that you run MAME does snes and genesis run through that as well, cause I noticed the rom selection screen looks similar for all systems and it also says "Ready to play!" so I figure either mame is controlling everything or you have a custom frontend to control it all. Thats pretty much it for now.

  • I built one but its only a 2 player.

  • how much u want for this cabinet?

  • i've spent way too much time and effort (not including pc and monitor replacements) to want to get rid of it any time soon!

you can buy your own from various outfits online.

  • i can build u one same exact if need be ......... 750 of the queen's finest

  • to rich for my blood but thanks man

  • Sweet rig ! & Clean as hell ! Thats hard to accomplish in one of these cabs. How mush was it to construct it is you don't m ind My asking ?

  • Oh, I didn't build it. I bought it from someone who had it custom made from slik stik. the company unfortunately has gone under. However, the monitor and computer are just standard dell and wells gardner parts.

you should chk out ultracade or dreamcade for similar prebuilt type rigs.

  • i'm sure you're talking about the same company that had 'gone under' with thousands of peoples cash.. more like took a ton of orders and ran with the money

  • is there an option on the mame program that allows the games to randomly show their opening screens ???

  • is there anywhere i can get sega, nintendo, or snes snapshots???

  • i have that too!! actually my sims character has it

  • can u save games??

  • Hey man, how you get that interface, is cool and you don't need to exit to windows to select games¡¡

  • Yeah, that's a front end called MALA. Very nice and relatively simple to configure plus it's freeware.

  • nice cabinet, but u suck at VF!!

  • Heh, yes I do!

  • i was wondering are there any arcade games that are 4 players that need 6-7 buttons

  • good observation. I don't think so.

  • Awesome cabinet. Whats that black line that keeps scrolling down on the monitor??

  • it's what the camera sees when its capture rate is different than the scan/display rate the monitor produces.

  • awesome

  • Nice. I wish I had one of those.

  • I'm going to install Mala, for sure. My question is where does the background art come from, during the selection screen? Did you have to install all of the art? Or does Mala have that available?

  • Very impressive.. What skin are you using for Mala? thanks

  • virtua fighter epic win

  • can you list which emulator executables you're using with each of the various consoles? There's so many emulators to choose from but the ones you have seem well integrated with the control panel (same controls) and no in-emulator menus. Presumably always same exit command, etc.

  • Wow i have been planning to start this project, and have been reading about this for a couple of days. I am wondering where did you get the information to build a 4 player cabinet and the way to wire it wich a keyboard. The wiring is the only thing that scares me before i start this project, i mostly find information about 2 player cabs. tanx for your help, and great job u did there!

  • I hate to disappoint you but I didn't build it. I bought it used from someone who bought the slikstik cabinet. However, all of the components except for the wood cab itself are parts everyone can buy. chk out ultimarc for starters. they have great controls, video card, and keyboard-control board

  • you got that from slikstik

  • I actually bought it used, but yes, that is a slikstik cabinet with a wells gardner monitor

  • That's awsome!

  • CONTRA !!!! nice

  • is this a msme rom cd or a jamma pcb?

  • This Is Pretty Cool Dawg, Putting All Emulators In One Machine, You Rock.

  • looks great! i bought the byoac book and have been mentally planning my own cab for two months. out of curiousity, what would have been your alternative front end of choice? was mala hard to configure?

  • I tried mamewah since there were so many videos of it. I thought it would be straightforward but it's pretty hard to follow unless you're given a working template and modified it. You have to name directories and files a certain way and edit a lot of config files.

I like the way maximus or maximo arcade looked and it seems as easy to setup as mala. but I ultimately chose mala since it's shareware (yes i've donated already) instead of the mandatory pay for play.

  • Try playing MUGEN through your arcade cabinet next!

  • If I remember right, some X-men arcades had two monitors put together? Has anyone made a home arcade like this yet?

  • I would love to see a video of that. it's supported by mame out of the box for dual monitors. i just havent' seen someone do it.

  • There's been a few arcades I've seen with dual support and I'm thinking I'd like to try that out with a widescreen LCD one day. Do you know if any models can display old games like this without the lag problem?

  • I've been trying for the longest to get MALA to work with MAME and my other emus, How did you configure your MALA? Very much Need Help

    Thanks

  • go to mala -dot- arcadezentrum -dot- com / mameconfig -dot- html

it's a pretty good walk through.

  • how much did the arcade cabinet itself cost after shipping and whatnot?

  • good job, Mr. A2k! Now put this on auction and reep up some profits.

  • i got a reg tv where can i get the conveter

  • google "vga to s-video" and you'll see a ton of results. nexttag has tons for $20-$50

  • nice i just dont know how to hook my tv up to the pc so ican play my games on a big screen

  • If you just want to use a regular TV, you can get a VGA to s-video / rca converter. Or a video cards that has s-video our component out. That is if you have STD. If you have an HDTV you can just use DVI or HDMI

  • very cool. I love the trackball too. Marble madness! Although I don't see 2 trackballs, no 2 player :(

  • heh, yeah. double trackballs would be nice. However, with 4 sticks, i'm finally able to play two player Karate Champ!!!!

  • Looks very expensive...

  • If you wanted to build from scratch and again have a PC already, you'd need a $400-500 arcade monitor, computer display, or a regular TV. You'll need a $30-$50 board to convert arcade controls to keyboard signals. the controllers: about $30-$50 for joysticks, trackballs, spinners. About $1.50 for buttons. or you can buy prebuilt panels from X-Arcade and just sit it on top of your cabinet like many other youtube video ppl have done.

  • It depends on how much work you want / can do. At the cheapest, if you have a Pentium 3 or equivalent and an old arcade, you'd only need to get a jamma kit to convert.

To buy one of these from slik stik, it'll be around $4500. X-Arcade, Quasimoto, and several other "name brand" companies make these in varying quality and price.

  • Thats a sweet rig you have there. Nice job ! What kind of mame front end are you running ? I would like to have that on my machine when I start building it.
