Of course Petrucci revolutionized (and Dream Theater), but in Progressive Metal. And it doesn't matter, did Gilbert revolutionized anything? I don't think so and it doesn't mean that he's bad. And if you say that Petrucci doesn't have better feeling or technique you're so fucking wrong. If you see watch?v=FwWU60L6mDo you'll know what I'm talking about. Petrucci is for me the best of our time.
I agree that petrucci is terrifying and a badass guitarist. Gilbert has revolutionized a lot of ways people think about shredding and its techniques, though. You can't argue against that.
its an accusation i would have leveled at him 10 years ago .but the guy gets better and better. iv said it before, i would not have thought it possible .
On the DVD after Paul's solo Joe starts them doing little solo tradeoffs. That's the part I like best. They all get to share their styles and interact together on the song.
he may not be revolutionary, but he is (imo) the best at what he does, and he definitely sets himself apart, has his own style, etc... besides, i think decades from now he WILL be a legend.
fretboard it's not as hard as you think, if you can get to one of their shows. I saw Paul in UK in November 08. Wasn't gona stick around, but some random guy said Paul was coming out soon, so i thought why not. Took an hour, but to meet one of my biggest inspirations not long at all. He came out, had pictures and signed stuff, amazing guy. Take the opportunity as it arises :)
i remember i met joe satriani at the Grove of Anaheim in Anaheim, Ca and even after meeting and greeting with a bunch of guests and playing a long ass show, he still had the patience and everything to meet with the fans waiting outside who couldn't afford to be in the VIP guest thing.
He's such an awesome guy he was willing to sign my shirt and shake my hand and talk about the show and everything. Naturally i was amazed i met the legend. he's an amazing guy.
always with me always with you right? or have i just made a dick of myself? and yeh definately campitelli...paul has great phrasing, i think he was thebest guitarist on that tour.
0:29 to 0:40 great sweet lick really feel playing. they all are guitar beasts. every one is besssst on his side the problem is that when i see gilbert playing i feel he is the best when i see joe playin i fel he is best abd when i see petruci playing i feel he is the best. every one is cool in his place. i salute u 3.
Nah Thas Jeff Camitelli w/a hat judjing by the loks of it. Petrucci and Gilbert came out at the end of this song. IT was Satch's last song in his set before the jams
bucket can play any style of music, ever. and banjo, and bass. but he got some of his style from paul gilbert. Don't talk shit about guitarists when you don't know all they're capable of
Yep, agreed, Malmsteen is the real god ........... as long as you want neo-classical played at breakneck speed and 18 notes a second. Any other style / tone / tempo and he's buggered.
I know youll hate me for this. But i prefer buckethead. NOT because hes better, because all of these guys are much faster, but he plays more harmonics and styles then everyone of these guys put together and WAY more insturments. At metal these guys beat him, but he beats all of them overall
sry but in no way buckethead beats stach or petrucci ... in any way... all buckethead can do (seen him live) is put crazy effects with his amp and shred sry but I'd rather see this than 5 buckethead concerts... thats my point of view you're allowed to think what you want but check out more dream theater and satch
I will. And i prefer buckethead, because he plays WAY more styles. I know, hes not technically better then these guys, but he plays so many different styles, which is why i prefer him.
Petrucci and Satch play much more styles... satch was a teacher and I've seen him play jazz style stuff and all. Same for Petrucci(exept that he wasn't a teacher I think), ... sry dude but try to know the people you are judging before puting such a comment...
Gawd I love this video.

zzerovisibility 1 year ago 10
@zzerovisibility Of course there one, haha theres a DVD of all the G3.
edgarrg94 1 year ago
@edgarrg94 In fact there is no DVD of the last G3 tour with Paul Gilbert in the line up. If you have this DVD then It is a bootleg.
If you think there is a DVD of the last G3 then you are a novice to G3... and you have no Idea....

Man, and to think that I've heard people say that Paul doesn't play with "feeling". They need to listen to this. Paul Gilbert owns Chuck Norris!
