Looking into buying a 74 dart with the slant 6, has a four barrel carb, headers, and a cam. Has a very lopey idle. Looks like a good car, and this video proves it!
Okay, okay, so I currently drive a (Australian) Ford FG XR6 utility (pickup) with a 4 litre, fuel injected engine which will easily run 15's stock. But gee, I miss my old 225 Slant AP6. Money and x wife put an end to that one. But I reckon, if I win lotto, I'll get the lads to build a sweet 225, put the DOHC 4L in a box and run the Ford with the slant. They were/are an unbelievable motor. I called them a diesel-petrol, so smooth/beefy down low. Thankyou for the vid. Gaz.
I'm 34 now, I grew up with my parents 1976 Plymouth Volare station wagon, brown, yeah it looked like a turd but hey it had the 225ci SLANT 6. my dads a MOPAR guy and the car was very reliable, I miss going to the drive ins in the SW in the back in the late 70's. These slant sixes are very underrated. I'd love to have one of my own, maybe down the road someday....
@MrMyfmyf Hey if you can find a little plymouth or dodge that a little old ladys had sitting in her garage since he husband died. Those are the great cars usually one owners too.I don't mean just died say moved away or something but you get my meaning?Sitting up and all dusty just ready to run wish i could find that myself?
hey blown u have some gr8 vids m8 me uncle bought a 71 se dodge challenger 440ci cost him 45k he in gatton qld and he puttin a stroke kit in out to a 512 stil lhd i can show u some pics ferral97@hotmail.com keep up ur good work
I love the old 225s, its amazing the kind of performance people get out of them. An old Dart or an Aspen would be my choice, with triple Webers and dual exhaust, lol! These are cars I would definetely think of buying!
Amazing passes for slant 6 engines. I had 3 cars with slant 6 engines. I dare any anybody to show me a modern day engine with the reliability and fuel economy of an old slant 6.
if your into old cars would buying a val with a slant 6 and using it for a daily driver these days still be practical since they are getting old. Also were the valiants of that era more reliable than the fords and holdens back then.
I have never seen an engine like that, and I hurt the poor thing, you can-not-kill a slant six. I use to dump a factory slant at about 6000, it did it again and again and again
Let me remind you all who posted these comments that Chrysler itself, through Dodge Division, clearly wrote in one of the sales brochures for the 1964 Dodge Dart "Compact In The Large Economy Size" that "It has the muscle of a V8..."
In its very first of the 1963-66 Dodge Dart brochures, Dodge wrote: "...The siz that scmapers like a V8... ...it leaves the run-of-the-mill compacts wheezing and waiting at the stoplights..." And these slant-six-equipped hot rods take all that - literally!
LOL..aint it the truth! ...oooh RICERS BEWARE!!!! ooops, foot in mouth. You can drag civics up the street by the hair with a STOCK slant six. Stomping the hell out of a cobra mustang with a slant six dart. I'd have tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard at the guy in the cobra.
And don't forget the superb ruggedness of the slant six, either, CSXT8250! These engines can be pumped up to race with V8s and ricers - plus the advantage of the slant-sixes' locomotive-like reliability you won't get from super-prepped ricer cars!
Man who needs a v8 when you got those bad boys..I had a stock in my 67 dodge truck it had all the power i ever wanted. And man did it ever pull heavy loads too.Love this video it gets me going..
i respect this engine alot when everyone downtalks a slant 6 saying they are dogs they can never be fast and etc well just show them this video to prove them wrong they are freaking fast if modded up right i own a stock slant six even not souped up like these though they are unique and had that different sound that just set a mopar off.
I have a Plymouth Duster with a stock 225. I just bought a turbo and intercooler for the car and would love to talk to someone about the do's and dont's when doing the install. Would you mind me asking you some questions or could you put me in touch with the guy(s) that own the cars? Thanks for your time. Any more clips of the boosted Slant Sixes???
BlownHemi, Could you please give us some details on your boosted slant 6. Carb or fuel injected, how much boost, tranny and rear, etc. Also, could you PLEASE post more clips of the car and the motor. Thanks.
Not my cars, but here a few details. The white one was at the time fuel injected with a water to air intercooler running around 15psi boost but the turbo was small and inefficient and the intercooler was a restriction. Now it runs a air to air intercooler and bigger turbo producing around 17psi boost and it makes around 370hp at the rear wheels.

in the process of twin turboing my dart. looking for t3 and t4
doughlax 2 years ago
u can do a blow through setup if u keep the carb. or you can just do a traditional turbo setup if u inject it.
doughlax 2 years ago
same way you turbo anything else. except you dont have to do jack shit to the engine. just run a bunch of boost

Hi, I have a 1962 S series Plymouth Valiant with the Slant six engine, it will take around $4K to restore, is it worth Restoring it?
