  • thank you basedgod

  • I love this song! Thank you for posting it. The words are AWESOME. Where can I find this CD? Amazon doesn't have this song or album. Someone please help me UTube Family.

  • Great song.Brings back lots of good memories. These guys could sing.

  • I had completely forgetten this was an Ashford & Simpson. My wife bought me a turntable Christmas 2010 and I dug up all my old records in the past year. I just now looked at the label and there it is---N. Ashford/V. Simpson. A haunting melody. I bought the single in May 1975 after hearing it late at night on WDAO-FM (107.7) in Dayton, OH at that time. I like this album version on this post with a few extras in it, and I remember hearing this, too.

  • @mikeeiland1 I never in a thousand years would have imagined somebody mentioning WDAO on YouTube - that was THE Station! I miss that era in Dayton...

  • This group bought down low out of the closet. Drag with dynamic vocals there was no shame in their game. If you where homophobic and their vocals didn’t win you over their Motown signature moves made you step to their beat. I saw these brothers in concert when I was 13 years old and have followed their music ever since.

  • oh yeah

  • The late Nick Ashford stated that recording this album, these guys were so polished that they finished one of the greatest albums I ever heard in 3 days! Those of you who have or had know what I mean!! Some of the greatest live performances I ever saw involved these guys...glad to see people loved them as much as me...

  • Wow Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson composed this! They are simply awesome! Dynamic Superiors were such a great group back in the day! I miss the 70's!

  • as good as ANY R&B song ever made. can't type right when I'm drunk

  • as good as an R&B song ever made

  • One of the best shows I ever seen back in the day

  • Thank you based god

  • I saw them in 79 at a supper club in Detroit. They know how to put on a show.

  • Great Beat.......Great Song. Like it a lot. It is a jam....

  • @STEELISHARD1423 did u know this group was gay

  • @BDOG828

Gay or otherwise, they sing and put on a dynamic superior show.

  • @BDOG828 amazing and tony washington died of aides splended

  • @BDOG828 What difference does that make?

  • Hey Frankey...thanks for the memories...I grew up on this also...and that's when you had to have talent to be in the business...I'm also wondering...have you ever heard of a group out of the 70's also...by the name of " The Swiss Movement " Take a Chance on a Sure Thing" is the name of the song...thanks again Frankey...

  • I remember this song from my childhood. Since that time I have been trying to figure out who made it. This is Ol Skool at it's best! Thanks Don G for the hook-up on FB!

    Al H

  • ahhhhhh another beat stolen to rap some nigga shit over top of for the kids

funny how most of the songs niggas be stealing have a positive message

before these broken wicked spirited niggas get to em that is

  • @DoomCity202 who did this one

  • When you hear talents like the dynamic superiors you know people like r Kelly or trey songz and the rest of em are shitty writers and perverts with a record deal....damn the 7o's soul sound is so golden and creative.....The classic and epic quality especially on this track can't be denied....I love it

  • THIS IS WHEN MUSIC WAS SO REAL AND RELATIVES AND FRIENDS WERE VERY CLOSE. THE WORLD WAS SO MUCH BETTER BACK THEN!!!

  • @pinkandtight3 I agree! Do you think we will ever get back th that way of life? I fervently pray so.But i'm afraid we'll never see them again and that makes me truly sad.

  • @petuniababi YOU SHOULD HAVE APPRECIATED IT WHEN YOU HAD! IT NOW THOSE TIMES ARE GONE... AHH BUT THEY LIVE ON IN MEMORY

  • @petuniababi hell naw! its about money not happy times. the artist back then where much better than what we see and hear today, but the artist of today are more finacially compensated and glamorous than the artist of the past . i personally miss those times as well, But lets face it, TIME BRINGS ABOUT CHANGES.

  • Now this is what I grew up on, true old school!

  • nice tune :)

  • gay band

  • Brilliant song...brilliant production...brilliant group....check out the reissue of this album and the other Motown LP Pure Pleasure - you can buy now at Soul Music.com

  • .....you just shoulda' seen 'em live....R.I.P. Tony Washington

  • @e37a You got that right! To see them on stage. Was that a show or what?? RIP Pretty Tony!!! My sister and I was just talking about them yesterday.

  • @e37a I am so jealous of you having had that priviledge!!

  • @e37a I am so jealous of you having had that privledge!!

  • FLASH !! This album and the group's "PURE PLEASURE" album are FINALLY coming out on CD later THIS MONTH !!!

  • I too am stuck in the 70's for it was truly music sung from the heart !! One thing is no one can ever take our music away from us cuz we keep it alive ,,,,,day by day !

I thank God for YouTube and the many that post such awesome music and videos !!

  • Nothing really surpasses the 60's and 70's soul genre. As a young girl, I fell in love with the romantic love songs sung by the talented male groups. This was one of my favorites, played it for hours on end and fantasizing about the guy who would really make me really feel the lyrics of this song.

  • This song really takes me back to a simple time. I really should have taken advantage of those days, because I miss them so much, especially the music. I can remember playing a 33 LP and just watching it go around in circles listening to the music. Times will never be like that again.

  • @STEELISHARD1423 Haha i'm 15 but i'm stuck in the 70s and 80s mentally. I just can't get enough of those eras.

  • Amazing song, amazing group..just listen to them... I'm 15 and i get goosebumps everytime i hear this.

Music truly was great in the 70s. Wish i had a time-machine.

    R.I.P. Tony Washington

  • my sister and i played this to death,we loved these guys.you can tell this is a true Ashford and Simpson arrangement.

  • I got this song on CD from roadhouseoldies (google them)

  • this was a badddddd baddd group back in the day in DC, growing up in DC back in the 60's was fabulous, plenty of singing groups,

  • @STEELISHARD1423 THE BEST MUSIC EVER. HANDS DOWN.I COULDN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF THE GROUP WHO DID" SHOE SHOE SHINE" UNTIL I GOT ON YOUTUBE.NOW I KNOW THE OTHER GREAT SONGS THEY SUNG.THEY ARE RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE TEMPS, STYLISTICS,DELPHONICS,TEMPREES,CHILITES ETC. I AM STUCK ON OLD SCHOOL TOO.

  • Do you remember The Shelter Room in DC, I saw these guys there too many times, do you remember those days...

  • My man was right a lot people when this song came out definitely slept on it...this jam is Thee Shit...another song by Dynamic Superiors that people also slept on was (Hit & Run Lover)....Tha R&B Beast

  • lol wow The Game sampled this song wow never knew that.

  • My favorite by them

  • They also had one out called "Shoe Shoe Shine". Wide awake e37a been listening to this for yrs. Since I was a teen. I turned a lot of folks on to this music and still doing it.......Ipod style....:):)

  • Now thats what I'm talking 'bout!!!!

  • this whole albums da truth.

  • I know ya' know!!! Thisis one of the baddest albums I ever heard.. A whole lot of people sept on this one....

  • I remember this !! alomst forgot this one~!

    great tune!~

  • AWESOME

  • They had "church" on this tune here!!! Tony and the fellas tore this up!!!!

  • We spent many evenings driving around Georgetown listening to these guys and The Presidents and Red and the fellas(the Unifics). WOOK was the best.

  • Wow, this really does sound like an Ashford and Simpson song. I never noticed it before.

  • I agree with everything you just said.

  • hey man...that intro...sounds familiar

isnt that mariah carey's we belond together...maybe they copied this song ha :P

  • Back in the early 70's I worked in Amtrak's mailroom in DC. One of the group's members worked there also, before the group "blew up". No one took him seriously until "shoe shoe shine". We caleed him "Ricky" then. I saw their first album cover with my big head partner's face on the cover. Those boys are BAAAD!!

  • @ugotstobkidn

Best beleive the Superiors was badddddddd baddddddddddddd back in the day in DC, the good old days ,

  • OK, I'm in love! This band is AAAAAAAh-mazing! And with a name like "The Dynamic Superiors", you'd better bring it! And they totally did. So beautiful.

  • can you put a download link please?

  • Valerie Simpson is a great musician.

  • Oh, a documentary would be marvelous. Was the whole group gay? I read somewhere that Toni was not the only one. I hope Toni was well taken care of in his declining years. How long was he able to perform??

  • My DAD was in the group (road manager and sound man) I'm currently working on the documentary. Let me know if you want to appear (all 70's groupies wanted LOL) - My Dad and Maurice are here in ATL - we will start shooting in FEB. mamcfaddenjr at yahoo

  • Man, thats fantastic news!!!! I've been a huge fan from day one. Can't tell you how glad I am to see this project come about. I STILL play the albums I have. I'm definitely looking forward to getting the opportunity to see that so many others loved their music as much as me. Let Maurice and your father know that I've seen virtually everybody under the sun, but, they never, ever, got topped. Much love.

  • goodluck brother..i saw them at the Lowes Palance in DC in the 70's one of the greatest groups of all times.

  • Great song and FEEL - Francisco Centeno on bass

  • This is just toooo much!!!! May God have mercy on Toni's precious soul and may he rest in peace.

I regret never seeing them in a live performance.

Any more info on Toni? A book?

  • I have always lovedddd this jam!!!

    And the group too! lol

  • super dynamic!!

  • Frankey or anyone who knows-

What happen to Shoe Shoe shine, why was that video taken down?

  • The two original videos for the song "Shoe Shoe Shine" were removed due to a copyfight infringement complaint that was filed.

  • Try CD Depot in College Park,MD

  • I have this on vinyl--still sounds good!!!

  • Check e-bay. I got the first two albums from there.

  • Used to play song when I was running the rap down to my lady on a hot summer night in the 70's LOL

  • as a person who heard it when it was new thank you 4 takin me back to when I was finding out I was! GOD bless u!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this group. I knew that tony passed in the eighties,I wonder about Maurice and the rest of the group. I even knew their band back in the day. I have pictures, posters and business cards from them. I became a OHio groupie. THis group was all that and then some. Tony was a very strong person in personality and he did not play. I loved them all and wish I knew more or even what turn their lives took after this group disbanded. also one of My favorites was called "SOON" off of this album.

  • There's a group calling themselves the Dynamic Superiors out there. They were part of a benefit concert for do wopper Pookie Hudson, of the Spaniels about a year ago. I did'nt see them. George Peterbark was and maybe still is a member of a 50's do wop group. I can't remember which. About 10 years ago, the Temptations came to Jax and Maurice Washington was singing bass. Otis Williams said that he was a sustitute. Beyond that, I hope they are all doing well. They were incredibly talented.

  • Thank you so much for this info as they were dynamic would'nt you say and at least I have some ideal that Maurice is still living. Sure would like to know how and what they are doing today. I wish that someone would post their song called "Soon" what a song again thanks e37a!!!!

  • Does anyone see vocal similarities between Tony and Nick Ashford?

  • Ashford and Simpsom wrote and arranged all of the songs on their first 2 albums, except for one on each album. If you can get either one or both of them, its worth the effort. These are 2 of the greatest albums I've ever heard.

  • His voice was extremely open. My goodness, he sure could hit those notes. And I agree, this group did not get the credit they deserved.I will always remember their Soul Train appearance.

  • Check out ebay. A while back, they had a few copies.

  • I saw them perform at the Indiana Black Expo in the late 1970's and they blew the roof off the place!

  • Tony died in the 80's, not to long after their "Shoe Shoe Shine" album debut. It would be nice to give them some type of recognition for all of their hard work and efforts.

Tony Washington was a person you had to love.

Tony had no secerts about his sexuality in the 70's that was uncommon and he still had male friends galore, coming up in the hood then everybody love you no matter what.

  • This album came out in 1975, with Shoe Shoe shine, they are from Spingarn High in DC, and would always come back to perform at their alma mater, RIP Tony, Tony was a good dude, use to see him all the time he didn't bother anyone and no one bothered him, home could sing his ass off.

  • Too bad I wasn't living in DC at the time. Apparently, I missed out on some great groups

  • You are sooooo right, Tony could sing his azz off! What a great group. In fact, this is the only group that I've seen upstage Blue Magic. - 1976

  • CHOEOGRAPHY WAS SICK..

  • They went off on The Commodores in Miami That same year!!!! We gave the Commodores 3 songs and left. The Superiors tore that place up!!!

  • Wow! I used to live right behind Spingarn on 21st and I Street..Little Vietnam.

  • I remember when Tony use to come around the neighborhood here in DC. Never thought they would become so popular. It is ashame that he is gone, RIP Tony. Yes, he was very gay and not ashame and very unusual for that era, but it was acceptable because of how he was.

There is another group of the Dynamic Superiors, none are the orginal, I am not sure if Tony's brother Maurice is still living. I know some of them are, it would be nice if they caught this thread and respond back.

  • My absolute favorite song by the Dynamic Superiors. I love the lyrics, the singing, the track, production...everything.

  • Thanks 4 posting. I was trying to figure out the name of this song

  • Thanks for posting this song.

Sheba1959. I am not totally sure what happen to the group, but I can tell you this. The lead singer has past on.

  • really? Thats sad. After Finding shoe shoe shine on here I started trying to research them but coulnt find anything. Where did you find this info?

    thanks

  • As far as the group is concerned, they are still doing shows. As far as how many original members are involved, I'm not sure. I was sorry to hear about the death of Tony Washington. This guy could sing his ass off and as far as the group and live performances were concerned, I had a chance to see them 4 or 5 times and there were very few who could touch their showmanship.

  • I agree, its very sad. When did he pass? I was thinking that they might be an interesting documentry subject, especially Tony being Out and proud and in a Alpha male dominated industry. It would have been nice to catch up with him and hear his stories.

  • What happened to this D.C. group?

  • they are still performing, however there is only one original member and sadly Toney Washington their Dynamic lead singer passed on about 13 years ago. it could be a little longer.

  • I have been waiting forever for someone to post this song. Thank you FrankeyHoboken for the memories.

  • I agree :) I loved this group. My album broke about 6 yrs ago. I cried.

  • FrankeyHoboken, you are definitely THE MAN!!!'ve been waitng for somebody to post this for forever. Man, everything on this album should have been a hit, but, Motown dropped the ball on the promotion. As far as performance went, very few groups could come close to thir showmanship and their lead singer, Tony Washington, could sing his ass off!!! Thanks again!!!!
