Ray Eberle (bandleader Bob's younger brother) on vocals here. Ray did all the ballad stuff with the civilian band - and Tex Beneke did the up-beat numbers like Chattanooga and Kalamazoo.
@UniversaLPotentiaL: I know right! It could definitely add to the eerieness.. I must say, they did well picking Ink Spots - I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire though^.^ I love Ink Spots.
I don't see how anyone could not like this melody and lyrics! Sure do wish everything in our hearts desire could come true...Of course I do and the same for everyone else. Hope you all are having a good day and happy.
I love this song! My maternal grandfather's uncle wrote the music. My mom (a Harline) remembers when uncle Leigh came to one of their family reunions and played the piano for everybody. I have heard and seen the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing it. They did a fabulous job.
i think this was recorded in 1944 just before his death above the channel in december of the same year ... anyway this is a really nice version of that standard. i love it
Just noticed your comment and if I'm not too late with this reply this song was recorded in 1939 and as another viewer has said it was arranged by Bill Finegan. That reed section was superb

@aclarena I agree with ThomasJLarsen on this:
"I'm pretty shure it's Ray Eberly singing here." Glad you found the video and like Glenn Miller :-)

This was one of my favorite songs that Glenn Miller did. I have lots of his records. He was a legend for making music for over 20 years.
