@TheGreatAcePilot Okay follow my steps and you be playing PS1 games in no time.

1. locate your ePSXe folder, delete it

2. Download PSX from emulator-zone com

3. put the bios in

4. put the game images in

5. enjoy your working PS1 emulator, no "plugins" required because this emulator has everything to work.

ePSXe is a piece of shit, seriously, it's doesn't work for most people.

everytime before i start playing a game by ISO I always go to video and "test" the plugin

for some reason it worked, now I can play Digimon World 3 lol

@TheGreatAcePilot Actually I solved my problem with my ePSXe as well... it was the data execution prevention windows 7... I got ePSXe to work now, and now I see the error of my ways because the video rendering in ePSXe is top notch, the games look great.

@caseygtr i remember doing dep off when windows 7 was new 4 years back, I upgraded to win7 sp1 probably 6-7 months back, and for the life of me been trying to run epsxe - always instant crashes when loading cd or roms. Hopefully this will solve the problem, Thanks anyhoo

Still same, After 3 days honestly atleast 15 plus hours sitting infront of pc tryna fix this i give up On this Crash Error. I I tried everything google and other deep hidden forums speak of. It looks identical to windows XP setup. Could I not just copy the ePSXe folder and its plug ins to a USB and then drop them on a windows 7 desktop? It would certainty make life easier considering it took me 3 days of downloading every plug in available before it ePSXe on my laptop.

By the time i found this video I already tried numerous other configs and nothing works. Anytime I hit the Run CDROM button or try to open the image, the app crashes.

It could be your operating system.. If you are currently on a 64bit operating system then you may encounter frequent problems with alot of software... HOWEVER do not be dis-heartened, try updating all of your device drivers (on windows 7) go to Start, then Control Panel, then Hardware and Sound, then in Device and Printers click on Device Manager... when it opens for any devices which have a yellow triangle or are highlighted as being not installed for example, you should update them

@06howea1 Thank you for the kind words and encouragement! I'm using a Win7 32-bit OS on lenovo T400 laptop and both the OS and all the device drivers are up to date. I found an interesting solution to the problem: I used "psx emulation cheater 2.5" as my video plugin and then in its config I chose "Pete's OpenGL driver 1.75" and it worked and it's stable. My concern right now is that graphics becomes sluggish when it snows in the scene for instance. Any solutions to that problem?

I hit run ISO and I chose the ISO, but its just a black screen

@BaconOtaku take in mind that the ROM or game you download depends what it is for example

if its a .ROM ( I Just Made that up BTW) and put Run ISO it abviously wont run it properly now if you download a rom whose name is for example MGS.ISO or says that its extension is a .ISO then it will work when you put "Run ISO" hope it helps :D

followed your steps. ONly thing I had to do differently was mess around with the screen resolution. Just played FF7 but as a downloaded rom. IT worked but had problems saving and coming back to find my saved game. What do you do for this?

I use Emurayden 2.2 doesn't need any config that is complicated and it works like charm with windows 7 32bit (in fast mode, i just tested with persona 2 after tryining with a lot of versions of this one)

@06howea1 Thanks for the response, I managed to solve the problem; If anyone else is using FRAPS, I switched the Video to Pete's Open GL and FRAPS recognizes the epsxe screen.

I have a different PSX and every time i start it says "Failed to find a valid mode(perhaps you need to switch your desktop to 32bit?)."

I have no idea what to do, i tried changing the compatibility but that doesn't help.

Right I'm back with some answers and I did some research online and it turns out that It could be your drivers. . . for your graphics card or display card whatever . . so could you do your best to update your computer all round and tell me what happens after ? Also you will need the most recent version of Direct X. . ♣Subscribe and Like♣

@06howea1 I've already redownloaded (about 3 times) Direct X and all the patches and that didn't help, i've downloaded a couple of other things but i'm close to giving up and buying a new graphics card as someone else who had a similar problem said that solved it for him.

@LieutenantIKim Try changing the Compatibility so that it runs in compatibility for Windows XP (service pack 2)

also make it run as an administrator. . . . . .also what operating system are you using ?

Ty for the help, it was really useful, although a problem im having, is that i can not see the whole screen in the game. Any solutions?

Also there is a bit of a lag, but that isnt much of a problem

@remimichael You know where is says something like fullscreen or Windowed ?

just put it to like 640x480 resolution and it will be in a window, but i've never had that kind of problem. It could be your monitor or if you've got graphics software like Intel Graphics media accelerator that could effect it too.

If you're wanting to download games to play using epsxe you should search Rom hustler or Emu paradise, they're both very good sites for getting game files and advice about playing... HOWEVER if you already own the disc for a game you can play it using epsxe too , just pop the disc in your drive :)
