  • dude, I'm 18, almost 19 and I love Steve and Journey. Steve Perry rocks my world.

  • 1:31 look at Neils face

  • 2 "Dislikes" ???????

    Who ARE those MORONS ?

  • All the videos from this Houston show are awesome. One thing I keep noticing, though, is how Neil Schon basically ignores Steve Perry every time Perry comes near him. There's rarely even a hint of acknowledgment. When he left Journey, Perry stated that he felt he "was never really part of the band" (paraphrasing). Are we seeing why he perhaps felt that way?

  • @moony9472 I'm sure there was a lot of things besides that. Steve said in interviews that the rest of the band was already developed and outgoing when he got there, and as shy of a person that he seemed at the time, I could understand that statement. I'm sure he got over that more as time went by, but when you're that big as a commercial and musical group, playing to stadium-sized audiences and everybody knows who you are and your songs, I'm sure that would take its toll on anyone, not just him.

  • No one, and I mean no one, has ever come close to Steve Perry's talent, not then and not now. After thirty years, he is still "THE VOICE"

  • seen them 5 times in 3 years in the 80s- love em

  • I, like many I suppose, were one of the lucky one's to see this band live. I still listen to them to this day and they're truly one of the most talented bands that have come around in the last 20 years. They really did have it all, great vocals, great drums, guitars and fan appreciation. There's not too many bands nowadays that can capture an audience like these guys did.

  • The Classic Journey, Should be in The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

  • Yeah Journey is a great band that should be in the rock n roll hall of fame.

  • OMG!!!! SPEECHLESS

  • Steve Perry produced this dvdLive in Houston, 1981. He's a Genius! Did I mention he's recording music!! Pinch me!!xxSP

  • Stevie caught two people with another guy

  • Ohh how great thou art!

  • @daspudster01 you are correct, looks like Steve did set off the fireworks! A pedal rigged up for him to step on @ 2:08-2:09! Love that Steve you can step on mt pedal Anytime!

  • @gupper83 So frickin what!!! Neil is a douche bag....wrong......couldn't carry that or a TUNE on his own! Will give him an attaboy for his song writing with Steve!

  • Neal Schon is just a damn genius...huge inspiration and influence to Me since I was a kid.

  • every single member is an inspiration <3

  • Journey had their share of ballads but they could also kick ass, awesome song, Neil Schon is his bad ass self from a time when bands played real rock and roll not like the crap bands of today (except for aerosmith, acdc, etc) : )

  • come on people GET UP IT"S JOURNEY...how do you sit during this song??

  • I was at this show, actually both nights, was in my high school prime, saw both shows on the '83 Frontiers tour in Houston as well. How lucky to have seen these guys in their prime, not to mention all the others, like Rush and Van Halen, maybe some of these are doing reunions, but it will never ever be like it was.

  • @brettboykin I saw the same concert but at Ventura fair Grounds in California! Festival seating, and billy Squire opened for them! But if I'm correct this was 1981 escape tour that I saw,and thats playing here! Frontiers was after escape and I saw that at the Forum in Los Angeles! And later became friends with Steve Perry! Guess how? My friend cut his hair in Beverly Hills! I knew they were breaking up weeks before it even hit the news I remember! Good times!

  • @paultheactor1 Now that, my friend, is an excellent story! Wish I could've seen him.

  • God! i wished i could have been at this concert. i wish the record companies would release dvd's of other journey concerts. great!

  • One of the best live guitar solos ever!!!!! They're so tight! Too bad I was too young to witness concerts like this.

  • @PeetiePediozi Indeed! Plus I didn't know that the old Roland G-505 (one of the controllers of the old 24-pin Roland GR-300 guitar synthesizer) could rock so awesomely!

  • Great Song Journey

  • bloody hell is stevie hyper or what?

  • Just curious if anyone else over the years has noticed @ 2:08-2:09 Steve is taking small steps over to...have they got a pedal rigged up for him to set the fireworks off?

Both Jon & Neal both duck & Steve has both hands over his hair/head?

Ross plugs his ear lol & Smitty keeps on drumming...

  • They were one of the tightest bands around. They shined when they played live.

  • I was fortunate enough to see Journey during this time period - my first real concert!

This was their era, and they were untouchable. Anyone with anything less than than good to say, never saw them live, in their day.

    Thanks for posting.

  • I'm a woman, and Steve's hair looks better than mine...... what a man....

  • I wonder if Arnel sings Did Stevie catch you with another guy? Or maybe he changes it to Arnel now lol.

  • Journey, one of the most incredible bands in rock

  • these guys were champs...this line up...and the one w/gregg rolie...i seen them w/rolie directly after steve "machine gun" smith joined...the evolution tour...and they were just on fire, totally blew the place apart...glad i saw that show...it was in a small arena. steve smith is truly a drummers drummer...one of the top 20 in the world. that whole band were 1st class musicians. musicality w/pop sensibilties. good stuff. :)

  • That was great! Whoa, that Roland GR guitar sounded great, Neil must have changed its pickups!

  • Pure Talent Pure Emotion Pure Journey Steve Perry

  • learn to spell

  • 1:53.. Classic Neal!

  • I love this Houston concert, Steve jumps around with great energy in his white shoes! For som reason he was more passive on stage in Japan.

  • Perhaps he was showing cultural sensitivity because the Japanese are more reserved than Americans.

  • You mean that little swiggle when he's belting out the high vocals. Yeah cute, funny, kinda like he doesn't know what to do with his hands without a microphone in them. Love that too. One of his enduring movements that all of his fans love.

  • Wow, another great video. Thanks for posting. Was this Escape Live in Houston 1981?

  • 'Line of Fire' is another favorite of mine. They play it just as well here as they played it on the live "Captured" album. Of course Neal Schon's guitar playing smokes once again.

  • one of my fav tunes, i like the japan tour version the vocals are a little different and it shows a little bit of the bluesy perry.. c

  • where are the fireworks??

  • 1:39, that´s the step that messed up his hips :)

  • yep, that step done over and over year after year!

  • busting his rear end on stage in toronto didn't help it much either.. c

  • Awesome! Thanks for sharing this video! What energy they all had... Such a great group... Such collaboration with SP, NS, JC, RV, SS in this era of Journey. Miss this magical group!

  • Just amazing this man can sing anything. He probably could do hiphop rap and make millions. I love how he dances in the, when you love a woman video. Hes the greatest!!!

  • Me too - we'll just have to queue together LOL. :)

  • They sang...they rocked...they conquered. Very cool. Thanks for posting.

  • Awesome!!Rhythm section is so tight here! go ross and steve rock and roll

  • Awesome video. I just put up mine from the summer tour with the new singer.

  • i dont think you should talk about neal schon like that...

  • 0:39 to :042 man he's got a lot of spirit!

  • No me canso de ver estos videos, esa energía que tenía en el escenario, acompañada de su excelente voz y por supuesto viéndolo a él...me encanta...

  • if you watched this video and made that remark, your to young..sorry you dont under stand "rock"

  • @justaman6391 hey im young i love this stuff rock is awesome

  • Find the lyrics... numnuts

  • SOLO EXCELENTE... EN SU VOZ....

  • What a b**ch at 1:47...I'm trying to learn that riff....anyone have a tab for this? Lol

    5/5* Journey kicks ass!

  • 1:02-1:05..

I don't know why, but every time I hear that little part, I get chills.

I love that quality of Steve's voice, it sounds sooo cool!

  • You know the best musicians when you hear/see them live and they sound just as good or better.

Journey/Steve Perry amazing live. They rock. Steve Perry's voice sound the same, if not better live. Loved them.

    This song rocks!

  • People have the audacity to call that senseless jabbber bombarding the airwaves today "MUSIC".....THIS is MUSIC!!

  • Whooooo! is right. Journey at their finest. I could watch Steve Perry all day, all night, and wish I was there for this concert. Steve could just sit on a street corner anywhere and hum, and I'd think that would be fabulous.

  • pyros? LOL Wow, I didnt think they were using pyros back then! awesome! Only thing missing from modern concerts of today is the giant TV screen. Now I'm sure they didn't have that back in 1981!

  • I am seriously loving those jeans!

  • When Steve was having the hip problem and the band wanted him to come out and tour they suggested he sit on a stool and sing. Can you imagine that with how much he used to jump around? That would have driven him nuts!

  • I've always wondered how many times Steve wore that yellow shirt??!! lol

  • total hotness

  • Like it when JOURNEY ROCKS!!! The BEST EVER.

  • Excellent video Steve Perry rocks!

  • DEFFINATELYYY :D

  • I was there

  • Doesn't Steve Perry sometimes look and move like Cher? Seriously, I'm waiting for him to like his upper lip like Cher.

  • looking mmmmm good in those jeans!!!!!!!!!

  • It don't get much better than this! Flawless, amazing they were at the top of their game here!

  • keep on rockin' guys..like ur leopard shirt,,cool

  • No...the stone is broken.

  • Perry and Schon together 4ever

  • Man, these guys were GREAT together. Neal is a killer guitar player! Too bad he doesn't have a vocal GOD like Steve Perry to sing for his band anymore. I just can't even imagine their new karaoke vocalist singing this song.

  • gotta love Steve and Journey when they were at there best. Excellent video and another great song.

  • WOW!!! Love it!!!! (Love it even more because it's in TEXAS!!!) I could watch Steve Perry all day! One of the best bands of our lifetime.....Miss the band they were.

  • SP rocks this song.

  • Best Band...Best Singer! A once in a lifetime combo!

Thanks for yet another KILLER video!
