  • As far as speed goes, I was taught this great piece by Donald MacLeod and he played it at a very similar speed, and if possible with even more aggression in parts, as Roddy MacLeod so brilliantly plays here.

  • Everybody plays the tune the way they want to express it, however listen to Roddy and thats how we should be doing it.

  • I don't like the expression he's playing 'The flame of Wrath'. I my modest oppinion is going too fast along the ground and less pointed notes.

  • @macsalvi I am sorry, but when you rack up the awards the Roddy has won over his DECADES of piping that he has among such as both Gold Medals and Clasps at Inverness and Oban, the Glenfiddich, not to mention an international recitalist, judge and instructor. Then you can come back on here and critique Roddie McLeod. The man walks in the treasured elite of piping. Trust me I think he knows how to play a Piobaireachd.

  • @bgrant64 I am sorry... your oppinion has nothing to do with my commentary. You don't stop talking about the player as well as throwing all his medals over me. I agree with you that Mr. McLeod is one of the finest pipers of this time but I was talking about the tune expression and speed. It was just a personal oppinion without any intention to offend anybody but you seem to be his brother. Don't you hear the way he is rushing along the tune? Please, count the seconds and study some Piobaireachd

  • @macsalvi Count the seconds? What the hell does that mean? You actually evaluate a performance based on how long it takes to complete a tune? That's quite weird! If you listen to john macfayden the expression is rather forceful too. It's an angry tune what do you expect

  • @macsalvi

Too fast? It's a flame of Wrath. How can you get slow wrath? If you research the tune history, you'll find that he nursed his wrath for a full year and still did not calm down. Then he went after the murderer and burned a whole row of houses just to be sure of getting his man! That says rage and speed to me.

  • It was the Little People who set those pipes at his cradle and sprinkled him with blackwood dust at birth. A magical set, and a magical player. And it is 1000 X better in person!

  • Unbeliveably beautiful

  • Those pipes sound frickin beaaauutiful those drones are outta control wow

  • Roddy is playing a great piobaireachd here..... his drones are killing me.... Steady as a rock and great ballance to the chanter. He is a rock in Piobaireachd. This is worldclass.........

  • @hfranke07 I know, he's amazing isn't he? This most awesome performance in such an informal setting is really neat. His pipe sound fills the room like few others.

  • You got second and cant spell Piobaireachd?? what about ceol mor you heathen? I reckon your talking Faeces :O)

    I cant spell Sh**

  • But he's not moving really fast... would he be that hard to hit?

  • He plays this on his album I believe... I enjoy it more watching him play it. His drones are the steadiest I think Ive ever seen.

  • He's rocking the black sneakers with shorts!

  • you really can play, i went onto a comp in london with my pipes to do a pe-rock (cant spell it) but 4got 2 do a verse and came 2nd

    good stuff

  • If you forgot a whole variation how did you come second!? :O

  • because the other chap didn't, ha ha

  • Mmm legend!
