The foster care system is screwed, many kids go into it and experience abuse beyond words, and it has happened in the past and continues to happen now even when people are aware of it. It is clear there needs to be stricter laws about who can be a foster parent, some people are just not meant to be a foster or adoptive parent and I'm speaking from personal experience. We need more group homes in safe environments with loving staff and integrated as a school, I have visions of foster care reform
Right now,we need a change in this type of foster care promotion.Promote to keep families together and not to steal children from parents.Promote helping familes and children if they need help.Why are states not awarded funds for keeping families together?They are awarded Millions of dollars to meet a quota of the number of children in foster care.Right now,we need to award and promote keeping families together.Right now,we need to deny funds and fire agency's that do not keep families together.
i agree with you that all measures should be taken to keep families in tact but i am personally grateful to have taken from my mother as bittersweet at it was to lose my siblings and be tossed around...but the abuse i was subjected to in her "care" was horrible. i think awareness for adoption is important because many kids are in need of good homes. a balance needs to be found along with a viable solution!
@daaronad the whole point of foster care is for the families to stay together. foster care is described as temporary placement leading to reunification with the child's biological family.
