  • r burton cummings paul rodgers john kay born bob seger born to sing rock and roll

  • regarding FredG comment: if you have the album cover, take a close look at the white trim- it's a repetative print of 2 women 69ing eachother.....

  • The interlude owes a lot to Ramsey Lewis if you ask me...I have worn out 3 copies of this over the last 30+ years..

  • que pedazo de temaaaa

    que pedazo de temaaaa

  • i swear..right about at 5;00 i got a chill..the kind of chill you get when a life flows thru you...what a wonderful tune...40 yrs later..thank you elgroove master

  • The piano solo/instrumental portion of this song is what makes it great!

  • que buena rola de este grande

  • Its to bad YouTube can't show the inside of the LADIES ONLY album cover. Its actually a fold out. The inside shows the L.A. police on Hollywood Blvd. having pulled over a sports car with a modified hood made to look like an erect penis. PRICELESS

  • Great intro!

  • I always thought this was their best song.I got to shake John Kays hand as he was walking oof stage after a conert in Co. Springs.

  • I'd forgotten just how good this is. Wonderful stuff.

  • @Abrohill my dad wouldnt ever let me look at the album when i was a young girl and he played it alot but now i know y lol

  • Very underrated SW album. Trying to find that tune on this one "Hey you, keep your head down"... So ahead of their time. Thanks a ton bro!

  • To MandyVin17 ~ You're welcome ☺ That tune you're looking for is "Renegade" found on the album "7"...

    /watch?v=f2lRcxlYx40

...and also on the "Rest In Peace" compilation...

    /watch?v=osSmWn53UHc

  • this is one of the artists my sister hooked me on and made a headbanger out of me.

led zeppelin was one of them to. now i am a heavy metal rocker at 65 yrs young, and expect to go out rockin'

  • lovely,!!

  • awesome piano solo!!

  • I'm just discovering this album, which i believe is STEP 8, all these years later. I loved STEP 7...my favorite!... but this is a lost gem to me. With no radio singles and near the band's final days must have slipped thru the cracks of promotion.. but it was late 1971.... alot was happening in the music world at the time.. many relevant new upstart acts demanding centerstage. A shame this work prob didnt get due recognition.

  • John Kay has always lived close to me. I lived in Bridgeport, Ontario and near Franklin, Tennessee. Larry Byrom is here in Tennessee also. I liked their Sparrow music first.

  • I remember playing this with my band, back in the 70's - great tune!

  • thanks for posting. great Rock & Roll

  • To uradragon ~ my pleasure ☺ ;-j

  • Yes this tune sure brings back a lot of good memories of better times. I really like this album and i play it often on my turn table with the head phones on and cranked. It has a lot to say as this music is timeless. The album cover is really cool.

  • looking for volume 1 of steppenwolf , the one that has a 27 minute version of the pusher, anyone , ? for a old die hard steppenwolf fan in roswell new mexico, [ Im in the middle of no where}

  • awesome solo that is... wow

  • Oh Yeah...You did a killer job on this one...Really cool & sound quality is excellenttttttttttttttttttttt :-)))))

  • to Ruraljohn ~ Glad you enjoyed it, cheers!! ☼ ;-j

  • anyone have the chords for the piano break?

  • Thanks a bunch. Haven't heard this for ages. In those days with little or no interference from company execs, rock bands could record whatever, and the long solo piano here section is indicative.

  • to drwinkle101 ~ You're welcome ☺ and yea... ('take downs' excepted), YT is great for bringing old sounds to the fore once more. It's a straitjacket business nowadays, and we suffer the plague of third rate 'Monkees' bands as a result... *sigh* ;-j

  • Hey Thanks. On of my favorite tunes. I've been trying to find a copy of this in the stores, but all I can find is the greatest hits version that has removed one whole verse and the instrumental section.

  • to fguy64s ~ You're welcome ☺ The album vinyl is easy to find online, try "MusicStack" or "Discogs". Note th@ not all the copies are 'gatefold', in case you want the fab centre pic of the 'Dickmobile'. If you want 'FLO' on CD, I've only ever seen it available paired as a double, "Early Steppenwolf / For Ladies Only", but it's still reasonably priced. This track was also released as a single b/w 'Sparkle Eyes'. Never heard it but I would guess th@ is the version you found on the greatest hits ;-j

  • great music and arranged...This band is very very best!!!!!!!

  • I still have this album. Man, I am old.

  • @1danrobbins

You are experienced, my friend! it´s not bad!Augure!!!!!

  • @Ruimol1 I have to admit being experienced and living through the 60's is much better than being experienced today and having to live through most of the crap they call music today.

  • @1danrobbins and bloody unfortunately i'm one of them poor bastards but i'm doin good as their all hear its just ashame no one will right any other music like it casue their mostly corporate monkeys.

  • Well done, not only this fantastic Song, the Vid is made so you dont look only to the Cover for almost 10 Minutes and nothing happens.

  • My favorite Steppenwolf song!

  • Thanks Elgroover-one of my favorites--been listening to SWolf since high school--thank you

  • to db33sr ~ ☼ ;-j

  • Yeah...the good ole dickmobile!!!

  • Great song, love the lyrics.

  • Fantastic track........brings memories of my dear departed friend who could play the piano break perfecto..........by the way THAT album cover was banned in the UK

    spanishheir!

  • This is my FAVORITE Steppenwolf song!

  • The album was beautiful.Remember the inside cover? ,fullsized phallic car.

  • I don't remember who owned the car but it was called The Dickmobile. That fact showed up somewhere in the album credits, or maybe down at the bottom of the inner gate-fold.

  • In addition to this sparkling musical performance..I've always thought the lyrical content of this song is so powerfull..

ie:'half the world has been built on their tears'.

..it seems to stir deep emotions...for me anyway.

  • ..that's what good music/writing does! ☺ Glad you've been enjoying these "FLO" tracks ;-j

  • @Zzsmile Actually, a lot of people think this, and other songs such as "Tenderness," are very sexist. I do not favor that opinion, but it's a good album.

  • es una de las mejores canciones en la historia del rock, gracias por publicarla!!!!

  • ¡Usted está bienvenido disfruta de! ☺ ;-j

  • Fantastic track. One of their best. Thanks for posting.

  • You're welcome ☺ ;-j

  • The sound quality on this one is also better than the other listing.

  • That's good to know, cheers ☺ ;-j

  • Damn this is a classic, brings back alot of memories thanks ELG...you made my day.

  • My pleasure ☺ ;-j

  • Steppenwolf # 1

  • One of the best Steppenwolf songs ever! And too little noticed

  • Verdadeira viagem sonora! Emocionante! Magnífico! Viva Steppen Wolf!

  • man if anyone gets a chance read the john kay book very cool!

  • Thanks for the recommend@ion. I've just put in my order for a copy of his book 'Magic Carpet Ride', (co-written with John Einarson), from Wolf Wares @ the official Steppenwolf site. They have the hardback editions ☺

  • yes the thumbnail, having 3 options is set at the same time for all videos, ind33d a fluke of the tube on this occasion !!!

  • Thought it was Split Part Two for a moment... the walls (and richmonds) are closing in....lol ;-j

  • I just got Sony Vegas 8 video editing prog, its realy good but also very hard to negotiate

  • I'm using the Sony Vegas as well. I can only figure the basic functions. Found it bewildering after WWM ; yes, very hard to negoti@e. I'm sure there must be short cuts to working the time line and th@ I'm not using it to its full potential? I've w@ched some 'How To Use...' vids on YT but my eyes glaze over @ some point after 'step 78'.... lol

  • Spot on James, things will devlop slowly, I just keep clicking around, I have never read any instruction manuals,I am sure we will both get the hang of it before we die LOL cheers man

  • Cheers James

  • You're welcome ☺
