I find it odd at how great lenght the makers of the film went to avoid naming 'the enemy'. I dare you to find *one* direct mention of Russia or the Soviet Union in the entire film. Has anyone an explanation for this?

They left out the scene where one American soldier is guarding Washington with sandbags, and when the Russian soldiers come, he asks them about the Cubs, and the Russian soldier is confused and says "Cubs? A Cub is a small bear."
