It is the sameee way with our Rusty. She runs out of breath and so that makes her voice crack or pitchy.
But no offence, our Rusty has an amazing singing voice to begin with. Hers was cracky and pitchy even without the choregraphy. And our choregraphy is WAYYY more complex then this. I mean our Rusty freaking crowd surfs, and runs around the stage. Rusty should have been cast diffirently.

Any random person off the street can step touch, and step touching doesn't stop you from being able to sing (unless you have asthma or you weight 500lbs). Her "Dancing" doesn't excuse the horrific quality of work she produces in this video. Second, she may have a good voice when singing an alto song but as this character, it's just not entertaining and who ever cast her should feel terrible about making her embarrass her self.
I was in this musical in high school 5 years ago, and I played the character (Rusty) that sings this song. Granted, it is a really hard song to sing, but, man, that was just really not good!

hmmm... let me say, she did not make the key changes, at all. i would have liked to see if she could sing the high f sharp, but, it would have been painful.
i'm sure the girl playing rusty is not that bad a singer, but the problem is, is that this song doesnt suit her voice. she seemed unsteady (which could very likely be nerves), and this song seemed to be performed overall a lot slower than usual - especially if we consider that rusty speed-talks all the time!
but it wasnt *too* bad. I'm not here to flame anyone, only try and offer a little criticism.
Ok. The set and costumes and Choreography are really good...but Rusty....omg.....That was just HORRIBLE!!! You need to take some money away from costumes and set, and focus on what is important in a musical (not that costumes and set is not important) The actual Singing... God go get some vocal lessons...

I sing opera, so in trying to take on something like this I have to pretty much do the opposite of 75% of what I've learned. Which means I probably /will/ sound like this because, to put it mildly, pop is most certainly not my forte.
I directed this show about four years ago and I'll have to say that I cast an 8th grade girl in the role of Rusty. THe girl in the above video doesn't hold a candle to the girl in our production. She should give everyone in the audience their money back. Geez.

Wow... I've been watching all the videos from this show... and this just really sucks. The singing's awful and the acting is terrible. The only redeeming qualities are the lighting and costumes.

Rusty needs to be played by someone with a strong voice, But if this is a amature performance or a highschool production its up to parr. But They are doing their best. God people are so mean, your tone's nice and rich its just a bit too high and Rusty is a character....ifs just your pitch and thats prob because your dancing too, i think you did good but hey I am from the UK and we don't just walk round slamming everyone, keep going girl!!

@sandiedc First of all they are step touching... not dancing. Any random person off the street can step touch, and step touching doesn't stop you from being able to sing (unless you have asthma or you weight 500lbs). Her "Dancing" doesn't excuse the horrific quality of work she produces in this video. Second, she may have a good voice when singing an alto song but as this character, it's just not entertaining and who ever cast her should feel terrible about making her embarrass her self.

I was in this musical in high school 5 years ago, and I played the character (Rusty) that sings this song. Granted, it is a really hard song to sing, but, man, that was just really not good!

(ps ashleytisdalefan-dancing and singing at the same time doesnt make it sound as bad as that, its not like she was dancing like a maniac and panting)

i'm sure the girl playing rusty is not that bad a singer, but the problem is, is that this song doesnt suit her voice. she seemed unsteady (which could very likely be nerves), and this song seemed to be performed overall a lot slower than usual - especially if we consider that rusty speed-talks all the time!
but it wasnt *too* bad. I'm not here to flame anyone, only try and offer a little criticism.

Ok. The set and costumes and Choreography are really good...but Rusty....omg.....That was just HORRIBLE!!! You need to take some money away from costumes and set, and focus on what is important in a musical (not that costumes and set is not important) The actual Singing... God go get some vocal lessons...

Eh... This is /exactly/ how I'm afraid of sounding at my audition.
I sing opera, so in trying to take on something like this I have to pretty much do the opposite of 75% of what I've learned. Which means I probably /will/ sound like this because, to put it mildly, pop is most certainly not my forte.

I directed this show about four years ago and I'll have to say that I cast an 8th grade girl in the role of Rusty. THe girl in the above video doesn't hold a candle to the girl in our production. She should give everyone in the audience their money back. Geez.

Wow... I've been watching all the videos from this show... and this just really sucks. The singing's awful and the acting is terrible. The only redeeming qualities are the lighting and costumes.

first of all, I am a performer and I work at a professional dinner theater. We are currently working on footloose which will open in september. I play Rusty. Rusty needs to be played by someone with a strong voice, But if this is a amature performance or a highschool production its up to parr. But They are doing their best. I just hope that this is a highschool. If not Thats really sad.
