  • I can't believe the criticism. It's a rehearsal!! Brilliant stuff I reckon.

  • thats fucking jazz

  • Focus on the music and the performance will come.

  • Keith Richards looks so old! But he still rocks to my liking better than the vast majority of my generation.

  • Love the way Lisa Fischer is "emoting" while singing with Jagger at 3 minutes! What a beautfiul Woman!

  • This song has maybe the best guitar in Stones' songs. But not in this realese.

  • @GirlLuvsMuscles - I saw an interview years ago where they asked each member of the band why they were still together after all these years and each one said the same thing: Charlie Watts! Then they said hey Charlie everyone says you guys are still together because of you what do you have to say to that, and he said "Rubbish" very funny stuff, but true I am sure.

  • what's it matter if that is all he does is knock take the key and run..

  • take off your wig ron

  • Love it, and thanks for uploading, I feel it's a privilege to be able to see the Stones in rehearsal :-) ♡ •.¸¸.•*`°♥.¸¸.•*`°♡⋆♫ * °`*⋆♪. ♫ • * ` `

  • @EzyRider1000 Hear! Hear!

  • Bobby Keys is playing the part of Ron White in tonights Vid.

I don't think Ron Wood true talent is really showcased in the Stones-his slide playing is phenomenal. Jagger's instrumental talent is the harmonica-on a similar scale to Charley Musselwhite, but again talent that is mostly untapped. Mick Taylor should never have left the group and is amazingly strong too. I agree with gottajamm.

  • he played the sax on sticky fingers thats why he nailed it kirth and him born on same day and year

  • The sax player kind of looks like Ron White!

  • great,keep on rockin!!!

  • At this point Teresa Teng had been dead 7 years...

  • i would love to be a fly on that wall

  • I always wished this song didn't break into that Santana-like music. It's just such a great rocker and then that part just leaves me hangin'.

  • @jagfug I kind of agree, I'd love it even more than I already do if it was straight up a four minute rock song (call me a boring twat)

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah

  • Keef looks like he's having such a great time.

  • Woody is a badass when he's on. Got great tone and a wonderful sense of melody. The tone Woody copped with the Faces is as identifiable as anything in rock n' roll.

Taylor is brilliant too. Just fookin' brilliant.

    All is well.

  • Ron Wood sounds like a beginner guitar player compared to the technical contributions of Mick Taylor

I think Ron is just a safe guitar player that never really causes any problems

Mick Taylors's original lead on that song will go down as guitar legend

  • @gottajamm and Taylor left when? oh 40 years ago - I'll put my money on Woodie

  • @gottajamm Read Keith's autobio to learn about Mick T and Woodie. Taylor had the role of lead guitarist while Keith and Woodie are able to mix their guitars together offering their typical sound...

  • @GirlLuvsMuscles Actually Mick and Keith make alot more money than Charlie due to songwriting royalties, which makes the album sales and touring money that much more important to him.

  • those are the coolest old dudes i ever seen

  • Knock knock.. You got.. the Easter bunny knockin.. shrow me down the key...

help me baby, I A'INT no stranger on this dirty street... one more time !!!

  • Mick sounds good

  • Spycunn is back>>> sound is virused..

hmmmm I must be doing something right

  • I love love love this tune....the mini jam session the 2nd half always did it for me....

  • .....You got cocaine eyes....

  • God, these guys look loaded....

  • Very nice rehearsal video. A few weeks ago I saw part of a movie with Jagger and Andy Garcia called "The Man from Elysian Fields."

  • What great footage! This is quite possibly my very favorite Stones tune.

  • @YouCantBuyClass I agree. I love Ron's style. Plus, none of the Stones are in their prime in this video (ronnie, like Mick n Keith, were much better in their prime.

  • haha I think charlie has an admirer at 5.06

  • I was going home drunk when they were selling tix for this outside the PR at 6am and there were 12 people in line. 12 goddamned people. I, and my brother, have never forgiven myself for not clueing in and getting those tickets. One of my biggest regrets ever!

  • Yeah you got chinese boots LMAO

These guys are always a friggin hoot.

  • Well, at least the sax player had his $hit somewhat together.

Actually, for me, the second half of the studio version of this song is way overrated. and the first half of the song is underrated. I really like the intro/guitar work, it has such a nice snarl to it. The Mick Taylor solo at the end is OK, but I'd much rather listen to his solo on Dead Flowers, to be honest with you.

  • How does Jagger manage to be SO unattractive but have such sex appeal too?

  • rehearsing for life.. makes a StaR.. can't you hear me knocking...

okay I go get off your cloud, now...

    goodday and happy new year~

    yeah you got.... great style!!!!!

    hugs~

  • The issue I have with the original mix is this: It's a bit raw-sounding - too-raw-sounding for my tastes, and me being an audiophile, that rough-edged sound can be a little distracting. Many people love it. I'd probably be fine with it if they took a little bit of that edgy-ness off of Mick's vocals (which it seems they did with the recent remaster. I have pristine, pro-level vinyl-rips of the original UK and US LP's, but I think I prefer the mid '90's Bob Ludwig remaster. I'm finicky about it.

  • Leave Ronnie alone!

  • yes, like the boy down the street that knocks, and then runs away ...

    Happy holidays

    ♥♣ Gran Peg~asus ♣♥

  • I bought the remastered exile recently, then threw it out and busted out my old copy with the original mix instead. I just cannot stop listening to that album. My GF gets pissed, I play it all the time. There is just something magical about that album that very few groups have captured since. Maybe Slash found a bit of that magic on Appetite for Destruction (largely Stones/Zeppelin influenced), but its just got that "something" that defies explanation and goes beyond the songs themselves.

  • Be nice to Woody..he has his talents that are clear and massive...This particular song is a Mick Taylor riff or a Keith riff that Taylor played well...and loud...If Woody would just paly it louder and with a LEs Paul or NOT A STRAT or maybe a "fat strat" in that mode...it would sound like the record...everyone wants this to sound like a Jimmy Miller mix...that's not an easy thing to do...HE was a great at what he did.

  • Stale.

  • 4 people Can't Hear Them Knocking

  • Never seen this before. Amazing!

  • Get down Bobby - damn that white boy can blow!

  • Awesome. Thanks for this fine stuff.

  • Webster's Dictionary should simply define, Cool: Keith Richards

  • I dunno if you know...but it is actually Keith playing the solo. And the solos I might add...and if not happy with his solos,,,listen to Rolling Stones Bridges to Babylon and songs like Saint of Me or Anybody seen my Baby

  • Bernard Fowlerl visited my hometown a couple of weeks ago.Just had to post it.And talking about solos...Most solos are done by Keith, not Woody.

  • NICE...love the bluesy sound of this tune, which sadly they've never played in concerts I've attended. The background singers, sax & other horns, and yes even Woody all sound pretty sweet to my ears. Agree with other commenters though that NO one can out-guitar Taylor & his Les paul on this song. Will add that Mick looks very buff for a 59 y.o. here -- I can only hope to be in that kinda shape @ that age :=)

  • If the Stones must insist on touring then they should play the world's small clubs like this, charge everyone no more than $30/£20. Okay, they'd make a loss but as a gesture and a 'Thank you' to the people who have funded their lifestyles for the past 200 years it would be nice. Also their music is better suited to this size of venue. Unfortunately the thought of a financial loss scares the shit out of Mick Jagger.

  • @rm009z0858 You do, I would hope, realize that they have far more $ than they can ever spend and could've retired MANY years ago, which means we wouldn't have the pleasure of hearing their great sound /tunes anymore to counteract a shyt seaful of Jonas Bros., Justin Beibers, and Miley Cyruses? Just sayin...

However your point is taken that their tix prices these days are ABSURD. I WOULD however gladly pay $75-200 to see them in a small club and not a football stadium with bad acoustics...

  • @Sharky165 You make a good point. They are one of the best antidotes to Miley, Jonas etc. and live they still deliver but I think a band with such an important legacy and were once a genuine threat to the British establishment, and set the template for rebellious rocknroll have been creatively dead since the late 70's and have sadaly become a parody of themselves.

As you say, they could've retired many times and don't need the bucks so why continue at absurd prices? It can only be greed.

  • @rm009z0858 "sadly become a parody of themselves." Sadly, I agree with you. This rehearsal really proves how BADLY they needed to rehearse (ironic). They never got the intro right, Keef messes up the breaks, Charlie is a bit off too, but Mick sings quite good. They are old, no one denies that, but they should NOT take their show for granted. It's good they surround themselves with "young" musicians, and they should be energized by them. This sounds worse than a cover band. :( Kinda hurts.

  • @mferrusca I totally agree. I've just Keef's autobiography in which he compares the Stones to the old original Chicago blues guys who played till they dropped. This is a romantic notion for Keith and he's entitled to it but I'd rather see them stop than become a comedy act. All the best to you sir!

  • @rm009z0858 How could you call this comedy? Madonna is comedy !!! Britney's' crotch shots are comedy..Shaved comedy..like Lennon's Shaved Fish record..maybe he was onto something....HA! These cats will play till they drop...they got nothin' else...like this that is...Heroin cant' touch this adrenalin.

  • @Chinawest1 I find them funny nowadays when I used to find them magnificent. It's comedy to me

  • @mferrusca The best part about being the writer of one of the most recognized guitar riffs in history is that you don't have to play it the same way twice if you don't want to. The only "young" musician that they play with regularly is Daryl the bass player. Bobby Keys (on the vid) still plays sax with them...he's the same age as Richards and been with them since Let it Bleed in 1969. The backup singers have been the same since at least the Steel Wheels tour...who are you referring to then?

  • @cgraber I was thinking about Daryl and Lisa, to be specific. I totally agree on the riff argument of yours. That would be boring as hell and folks like Santana, Gary Moore, SRV would have never as good or interesting if they only repeated themselves.

  • @mferrusca It's just a rehearsal holy shit! Did any of you see them on the Licks tour? Some of their best shows ever and I've seen them over 30 times in concert.

  • @keef186 You got a point, I got carried away generalizing. Specially since I've been rediscovering the Exile album and was on that frameset of musicianship. Let's not forget the context of this video: rehearsal.

  • @mferrusca I suppose I got carried away myself I know they've may not sound as great as they did back in the Exile era with Taylor but I truly believe that on these past few tours, a good majority of the shows could stand up to any that they did back in '72-'73 which is what most people consider the Stones to be at their peak. I say they're at their peak now.

  • @keef186 Well, I can listen to Monkey Man, from the Four Flicks DVD all day. ;)

  • @Sharky165 Don't get me wrong, The Stones were my life growing up, I have the tattoo, over 50 of their LPs and have seen them here in Scotland twice but it just saddens me to see them become a corporation. The music has been 2nd rate and predictable for years. Jagger simply wouldn't know how to write a song like Sympathy For The Devil now but it is amusing to see just old they can get.

  • Love this song the instrumental is the best part , Thank you Stones :- )

  • Mick Taylor sounded too much like Carlos Santana! Taylor's stuff was too Latin based for a true R&R band...

  • Taylor's number!

  • Throw those tin can Fenders (along with Ron Wood) in the trash can, plug in some Gibsons. Get some balls fer Chris sakes.

  • Mick Taylor era Stones is my favorite era.

  • If this is what a rehearsal sounds like I can't imagine how amazing a concert is!!! LOVE MY ROLLING STONES ;)

  • I've seen so many stones shows since 1981 and hope there will be more. But I wish i could be able to be in the room when they're rehearsing and just messing around. The best would be the 1972 rehearsals.

  • This is one song they rarely did live if ever...too bad cos this is my favourite...just the sound of Bobby Keyes' sax still sends shivers up my back. And you're right about Mick Taylor's original guitar on this...sorry Ronnieboy, MT OWNS!

  • flippin' Awesome Dead Flower Around the Way

  • sad, it sounds like an acoustic stones' covers band. What happened to that fucking BEAUTIFUL distortion?

  • @theshockingpinks It's a rehearsal. The full sound of the concert is not switched on.

  • @theshockingpinks

It's a rehearsal not a live show fool! imao

  • kick in the distortion!

  • ron can barely play. mick taylor was the guy

  • @bradkava Wood is certainly not a solo-type guitar player, but he played a pretty good solo on this live.

  • @bradkava I disagree. Yes, Taylor is/was awesome. But Ron's got some sweet licks too.

  • Ronnie is great !

  • they seem very tired here. probably a killer schedule.

  • @roomfullofidiots It's a rehearsal.

  • I'm 15 and this has been my fav song since I was 5!!!

  • Does anyone know what kind of crash Charlie uses? I think its a 22" swish crash/ride??

  • I would give the Woodman props for the lead at the end.

  • EXELENTE!!!

  • I guess I'm in the minority here, but I think this is great! And you have to cut them a little slack since it's just a rehearsal. I've seen them 11 times since Steel Wheels. Long live the Stones!

  • Knockin' on rehab's door.

  • Pathetic. No wonder they stopped short of the original long solo. And Mick Taylor was playing a Gibson ES-345, not the Strat Ron Wood is playing. For the album, the solo happened as a spontaneous jam in the studio. Everyone was going to stop playing, but Mick Taylor said he kept going because he had found the groove. No groove here.

  • fuck! where's mick taylor when i need em!

  • That ain't no jelly, that's JAM man!

  • Gotta be proud of that sax solo... he bloody nailed it.

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • ouch!!! absolutely great thanks for posting......

  • This is amazing !!

  • Love the Stones! Thanks for this one, from 2002-(?) The Boys...ehemm..Men...Will ALWAYS ROCK!!! Lovely, steely, Rock Gods; The most Beautiful, Glimmering, Dolls!!!! Shine on and on and on....

  • thats awesome

  • and Woody was better in swing than Taylor

  • Anyone know if that 's the sax player on the album?

  • What you mean on Sticky Fingers?

cause if so then yes there was one it was bobby keys

  • thanks. yes, I meant the Sticky Fingers album.

  • Woodie does okay on a solo that is both historic and very tough to emulate without "copying" note for note.......he does pretty well actually, keeping the feel of the solo.....Mick Taylor really played some beautiful solos, lyrical, flowing.....Woodie feels the music no doubt

  • what is it with the Wood v Taylor debate? Wood is a thoroughbred Stone - get on with it & support the guy - they didn't hire him just because he's good at parties.Watch Stones play Beast of Burden at Fort Worth in1978 on youtube to see a briliant band Wood et al.

  • poor woody just can't play like MT. good try but very short of the mark

  • lol mick taylor is better than Woody lol?? do you know music.. check out the Lies solo by Woody on the some girls album 1978 buddy then reply back ok

  • it's not all about playing fast kid...

  • Play it louder Wood!

  • God bless KEITH!

  • Nice try on the guitar solo Woody.

Mick Taylor owns this piece of musical history!

  • thats so true, Taylor is just the master of a huge piece of Stones history that Ron can't revive!

  • oh so true

  • @45spindle Except the Stones aren't about solos -- they're about riffs, and Keith is the riffmaster, and Ronnie blends better with that. I love Mick Taylor and think those were prime Stones years, but not simply because of his dazzling solos, but the songs they were built around, and those songs were written by Mick and Keith for the most part. Bottom line -- appreciate what the Stones are for what they are, not what aren't. If you are a true Stones fan, you will know exactly what I mean.

  • great song

  • classy way to get around ABKCO's strange control over sticky fingers..

  • really cool, meow, soundshunter, thanks!!

  • great post nice to watch the rehearsal s

  • Thanks a lot for posting this. One of my very favourite Stones songs. And this video gives one a chance to see something one wouldn't have got a chance to see.

  • Just love the cool style of playing by Keith Richards, makes it look so easy.

  • excelente

  • most dedicated band in the world, and it shows!!!!! meow~

  • This Rocks nicely for later work. Good to see Ron Wood doing some nice playing (on the wagon helps!)

  • rolling stones rock

  • great song

  • Kick ass! This is a great version. Stones sound great in small clubs because they don't have a huge brass section. What a great jam band they are. Great song to improvise to.

  • Awesome....but no one can replace Mick T-the greatest lead guitarist of all time.

  • hear me singin' soft and low...

    nothing strange about this,

    it's like a fine wine

  • WonderFul BanD

  • The hardest working band in the world, and it shows!!! they are awesome <3<3

  • sowaycool Tonyspanish, thank you!!

  • I love the Stones whatever style they choose to play...they have so much personality & talent it's unbelievable

  • The Stones so much better raw and without a 50 peice horn section backing them up. I've seen em 6 times and just wish they'd strip back down to a hard rock band. Long live the Stones!

  • nice version has a nice bluesy sound to it, nothing can beat the original version but this is a close second .

  • Keef and Macawber SOLID!

  • this is very special x(:Dc

  • this Stones rehearsal is a very insightful video, meow...thank you for passing it along, iwasbornin1955 & soundshunter~

  • .... one of my favorite stones tracks...wish mick would put more energy into it...but still, thank you for the upload. A real pearl!!!!

  • it's a practice... he's perfect

  • @Finallybenunderstood this written almost 80,000 views ago... sweet>> Happy Earth day !!!

  • one more time...jagger is the boss.

  • this is fantastic. note that there is a perfect chemistry between the stones and without ego.

  • Look at the liner notes of Squeezing Out Sparks. Jack Nietzsh, who played with the Stone early on, including on Satisfaction, was criticizing bands that "overplay," and said that the Stones don't play with ego, "they just play the music." I always thought that was a great quote and it's really accurate, if you think about it. Keith is ALWAYS a tasteful player. No 10 minute solos.

  • You have reason, friend.

  • aww *-* good perfomance. thanks for post!
