Interesting problem. I haven't had trouble with keeping the colors from getting distorted before and I'm sorry I don't have a solution. You could do a google search for correcting color distortion in movie maker. Sorry I couldn't help and good luck.

I wanna know what's the problem with the colours of my pictures or the titles after I published them and the colours are kind of too moldy for me like the colours are not correct as in the Movie Maker project before it's published, please help to tell me how do you to keep the colours to be kept the same?

First try deleting the uploaded, published movie and redo that part. So republish it on your computer and reupload it to youtube to see if that works. Something obviously went wrong the first time but sometimes it's because your computer was busy doing something else. Good luck.

I would need help. After publishing my movie on my computer 20 seconds of it is earased (by that I mean that the screen goes black tough the music is still going on).My movie is only 28 MB and the end credits are still working so I don't think my movie is to big or anything like that (but I can be wrong). The clips I'm using are still saved on my computer like all the others. So yah, I'm pretty desperate by now and I hope you can help me.

@kashamaar If the movie is too long and complex, a big file, for your computer resources to handle and/or if you have a slow connection it might get stuck. If your movie is long with a lot of effects, transitions, audio etc you can try to divide it into 2 movies, or remove some of the things that make the file big, and try it again. Good luck

@KathleenMcKee9 Just trying to see what's happening - do you publish it first on your own computer? Is it standard def or high def? Is is long, complicated, with lots of clips, audio, text etc.? Try saving it, shut down the computer, do a defrag, try uploading again. Be sure antivirus isn't running at same time. Let me know what happens and we'll try some other things too. best wishes kristi

@KathleenMcKee9 I just checked and 10 minutes is the maximum length for a youtube video unless you are one of their partners. By the way, I have a 20 meg. connection, super fast, from charter to help upload high def videos faster since there is such a huge amount of data in high def. let me know if you are able to successfully upload now to youtube. if you get an error mesage maybe we can go from there to take steps to make things work. good luck.

Be sure you have published the video with movie maker and saved it to your desktop. Then at youtube click "upload" and where it says "browse' click and browse to your desktop, and when you see your video click to choose it, then click "open" and the upload should begin. best wishes, K.

@chromeney If the file is too large or too complex Movie Maker freezes or has problems. Can you simplify the movie file by removing some transitions or special effects? Your computer might be having issues too. Save the movie, turn off the computer, reboot, run your anti-virus and anti-spyware, do a defrag, then try again. good luck.

I'm guessing that you mean when you try to publish it to your desktop it stops at 85%. Your computer resources may not be able to handle publishing it if it's a long movie, or a complex movie, lots of clips and music or formatting. Can you simplify or shorten it? Try removing even a small bit of text or a small clip if you can. Or make it into 2 movies, part 1 and part 2. good luck!

Movies that are complex with a great many clips, transitions, effects, audio clips, etc. are more difficult for your computer to publish. If your computer does not have the resources to process and publish a complex file then you'll need to try removing some of the complexities. Try removing some transitions, or effects, or a clip, if you can and try publishing it then. Three minutes 40 seconds isn't that long so the issue must be lots of complexities. Good luck.

Go to Tools in the menu across the top of movie maker, click on Titles and Credits, then click to choose to put text on the clip, before it, as a title or as a credit, then click to choose the animation (how the text moves on the clip) and the text style, size and color.

Ooops! I looked and you are right. Youtube has changed since I made that video last winter. The yellow button isn't there but I can see a place in the upper right that says "Upload" so you can use that to upload to youtube. Good luck!

First let's be sure your clip audio is high enough to hear it. In Movie Maker click on the audio clip in the timeline to select it, then click on "Clip" in the menu at the top of the page, then click on "Audio" and check to see if the volume slider is on a high enough volume to hear the clip. Does your computer have enough resources- Ram?* Restart and do a defrag. *Check the steps written in the description on youtube next to the video. *Check to be sure video is not too complex, too many clips, or too long.

I'm having a very weird problem with publishing a movie I made.

After I finnish making my movie I saved it and published it. When it was finnished publishing I checked to watch it but the screen of it had gone all strange. The colours had clashed together terribly, you couldn't see the clip just loads of mixed up colours, and it looked incredibly squashed. I checked the un-published video and its fine. Its only when i publish it it goes like this. What should I do?

Check the steps written under "description" on youtube. If it's not too big you shouldn't need to use compress.

Do a defrag on your computer. Check to see if the movie is too long and has too many complex clips for your computer resources - RAM etc. If so reduce the length of the movie by removing some clips or making it into 2 parts.

Turn the computer off, restart, do a defrag. Check the amount of memory and check to be sure there wasn't an internet connect problem, an outage or something. If it still freezes remove something from the movie to make it a smaller file or a less complex file so your computer resources can process it without freezing up. Good luck, hope this works.

Hey. when I try to publish a movie. The loading screen comes up. But it freezes then the WMM closes. Any idea why?

Turn off the computer, reboot, do a defrag and try again. Also, if the video is long and/or complex try removing something to make it simpler, less complex and easier for your computer. Remove some effects, some clips, or something and try it, or divide it into 2 parts if it's really long.

1- close all programs, shut down computer, wait a minute, restart computer, then do a defrag.

2-Next, is your video really long or complex, so it's a big file? Might need to be shortened or made simplier.

3-Also, did the "not responding" problem can occur after a lot of rapid clicks, sometimes it needs time to think.

The button to trim the clip is on the lower right just below the preview screen. Click on the clip where it sits in the Timeline, then click the Play arrow, then when it gets to the part where you want to divide it click on the Cut button, right side of screen just above Timeline. You'll see the clip in the Timeline is now divided into two clips. Click on the clip you don't want, right-click to get a short-cut menu, then click on Remove.

Okay so i just made a video its a 9 min clip. it doesnt seem to let me trim the end or split it. I am now publishing my movie. The green counter started at 72% remaining and it going backwards 73,74,75 and now ive got 93 minutes remaining. Yesterday it published until 17 % and then the laptop crashed...what do I do?

To trim the movie: Click the "Play" button. When it gets the point where you want to trim it click the "Pause" button (same place as "Play). Then go to the "Cut" icon in the lower right below the preview screen and click "Cut." Also, you could try removing some effects, or other editing that make the movie a complex file for your computer to handle. 9 minutes is pretty long and you may not have enough memory or power for that and maybe you can make it 2 movies.

Is your computer freezing, not responding, crashing in some way? Do you have enough memory?  Try doing a defrag and then try publishing the video again. Getting any error messages?

Click on youtube "Help" and in the search box type in "high definition." There is a lot of info about high quality and high definition.  I appreciate your comment. In the near future I'll try to put up a video about how to do high def. Good luck.

Be sure there are no other programs running at the same time because that uses up short term memory needed to publish the movie. Also check to see if the movie is more than 4 gigs because as mentioned prevously Movie Maker can't publish it then due to limitations related to the FAT32 file system. If you need to reduce the size of the movie you could remove some items from the storyboard or make it into two movies.

As mentioned previously you can get an error if your movie is larger than 4 gigabytes because of the FAT32 file sytem limitations. You can reduce the size of the movie so it's under 4 gigs by removing items from the storyboard or making it into two movies. Good luck. Let me know if this works.

If you are publishing movie that is larger than 4 gigabytes (the limit due to the FAT32 file system) you can get an error. Then you need to reduce the size of the movie. You can either remove items from the storyboard or divide the movie into two movies. You can also check to be sure you have room on your disk. You might do a disk clean-up or defrag. The video size on youtube will look different from the video seen on your computer's media viewer. Did you mean this happens when you see it on youtube?

It sounds like there is an issue with your computer. I haven't heard of this happening before.

Thank you for your comment. Youtube has a limit of 1 Gig or 10 minutes per video. If it's bigger or longer perhaps you can divide it into two videos, part 1 and part 2, or shorten it.  Best wishes, Kristi
