  • I <3 this show

  • OBBOTAH

  • PEN-GUIN-DO! Lol I love that in japanese!

  • holy shit...AANG SOUNDS LIKE A GIRL!!!!

just like in the play XD

  • I'm guessing Legend of Aang sounded cooler in Japanese than Last Airbender. I wonder how they call benders in Japanese?

  • where can I watch this!!!! in japanese :D

  • @GarredHATES This is not Anime. You will never find AVATAR in the Japanese Anime section.

  • @GRIMLOCK07 I know it's not anime nor I never said it was. I just wanna watch this wonderful series again in a different dub.

  • @GarredHATES Good Luck with finding it then.

  • @GRIMLOCK07 already did.

  • cool

  • AVATAH!

  • Some quick research I did from Aang's wiki by putting the characters used for his name into Google Translate:

The Sanksrit wouldn't translate, but the Chinese characters used to spell his name say "An-ang" with the first A being short vowel and the second A being a long vowel... So I assume "Aang" is a contraction or a different regional pronunciation.

  • Yeah, original language is english, I also used to think it's chinese or japanese ...

Anyway, the title "the last airbender" was also translated different in German, it was called "the master of the elements" which actually sounds much more better.

I think it's a typical title (the) legend of "so and so", but anyway, I think it's always interesting 2 watch american cartoons in japanese

  • @Nick252570 where can you go to watch american cartoons in japanese? i've always wanted to rewatch avatar in japanese just to see what the acting and voices was like! *-*

  • I wonder how did the show do in Japan?

  • why they change "the last airbender" into "legend of aang" ???

    WHY ???

  • @judedudemude It's only called "The Last Airbender" in America

  • @KenChanCake i see soooooo why did they alter it when it was allowed on america tv ???

kinda pointless just altering the sub tittle like that .... little stuff like and giving anime characters americans names can ruin the entire thing i swear

  • @judedudemude um Avatar is an american cartoon, not from Japan. It's just recognized worldwide as "The Legend of Aang", though I don't know why.

  • @KenChanCake because in japan they change the subtittle for some reason

  • I think the reason why most Japanese dubs (and their originals too) are of a higher quality (I'm not going to say better because that's more preference depending on which anime/cartoon you watch) is because there are actually schools for just voice acting in Japan. In America, Voice acting is usually lower on the preference ladder; more people want to be "real" actors. That's why I think some American actors do a better job at adaptations of Japanese movies than the Japanese actors

  • I think this is better than the english version.

  • Penguin-da!

  • i wonder if the Japanese dub in japan will get as much hate as the english dubs for anime in america get

  • @thekidofva I dont think so, since Japanese Seiyuu actually have talent and study at a Voice Acing University to become voice actors and think of it as a great honor, instead of being wannabe actors that didnt get the job for a TV series, and go around making squeacky(sp?) voices while hating their job and thinking its for kids only. Still, some have talent like Vic Mignona or Dan Green.

  • @fj0823 i watched a documentary about voice actors and a lot of them dont hate their jobs. They do hate how they get paid next to nothing to dub anime which is the hardest to do. I have a new respect for american VA's after watching that.

  • @thekidofva Whats the documentary called? I would love to watch it :)

  • @ToadStoolxX its called "adventures in voice acting" its in parts. just search for it.

  • @thekidofva Thanks so much! Didn't think I would really get an answer ^_^

  • @thekidofva can you give me the link or info pls

  • @MCHSLASC its called adventures in voice acting. there are like 7 parts to it i think. just search for it

  • lol i love the way "nickelodeon" is said

  • lol. japon es la utopia del siglo 2. en absoluto

  • lol avatuh ung XD

  • Penguin-da!

  • why wont i be suprised if they give the vioce acting role of Aang (the main male character) to a woman, not that i have anything against it or that a 12 year old boy sounds that much diffrent, but if u look at all of those characters in anime, there all women... weird.

  • Notice how asians pronounce Aang as "Ong"!!!

See? America is the one that's been mispronouncing it this whole time. xD

  • @anneres America hasn't been mispronouncing Aang@ all. Avatar was created by Americans & animated in America. So with that being said, if the Creators of the show want 2 pronounce the name of their created character a certain way, that's their right. U may not like it, but ur gonna have to deal with it. I know most of the characters r Asian in the show, mostly Oriental specifically. M.Night really ___up casting in the movie. Back 2 the subject, If we make it, we pronounce it the way we want to

  • @GRIMLOCK07 actually it was animated in korea..

  • @coolmartcola Thank You. I stand corrected on the animation in Korea part.

  • @coolmartcola It was animated in Korea, but everyone behind the show was American.

Most shows are Korean animated, actually. Korean animators don't require as much pay as American ones.

  • @GRIMLOCK07 animated in korea then sent over to be synced with voices in america, all america did was design the characters write it and voice it, still a really good storyline though! hats off them

  • @GRIMLOCK07 Not to mention that the pinyin (Chinese characters) provided for the character names by the creators were actually pronounced correctly (or given a very close approximation to the correct pronunciation) in the show. M. Night decided to pronounce the romanized Chinese, Tibetan, and Japanese names featured in the show as if they were all Japanese without regard to their actual origin.

  • @GRIMLOCK07

Actually, it's animated in Korea, but the original concept art, characters and the un-aired pilot were all drawn by the creators.

  • @rockinsparzy105 Yes I known that for over 3 months now. I corrected myself in another comment just a couple lines down from where you read me saying it was animated in America. Like I said "Over 3 Months Ago."

  • @GRIMLOCK07

    Oh. I didn't see that.

    Lol, sorry.

  • When Americans make an anime and Japanese dubb it, it sounds good. When the Japanese make an anime and Americans dub it, it sounds like CRAP! THat's why Avatar voice actors should become anime dub voiceactors.

  • That announcer guy sounded mexican, XD

  • y does it say legend of aang its las airbender AND AANGS VOICE???O.O

  • @catatack3000 Because it's the Japanese version. :P

  • @tennyoAMV

Oh thought it was just a fandub thing......

  • @13checkeredwings He said Penguin-da! That's a Penguin. And my goodness, such negative comments. ATLA's voice actors were great, but bashing on Japan is no different from fanboys and fangirls bashing on America. :) Also, I wish -comment removed- things would not be visible...those were wrong posts I made. :/

  • Oh no, annoying Japanese voice actors! I'm sure every time Katara or one of the girls were in a scene of struggle or desperation, the actress made it seem like they were in the middle of sex!

  • NI KO RO DI O NU! xD

    ニコロヂオヌ ( lol I think that's it)

    Nickolodeon sounds funny in Japanese.

  • is avatar popular or at least well known in japan?...just curious

  • Abata

    アバタ

  • I want to watch this just to hear the voices!

  • aaw, how cute "nikelodéon!"

  • I would watch it Japanese

  • wow its soo weird weird having a japanese style american cartoon dubbed in japanese..really trippy.i bet when this came out all the japanese were like "hey wheres the blood?"

  • @ExodoPics

    there is blood in avatar

  • @loIipz

there is? on nick? did i miss anything?

  • omg aags voice is fucking adorable X3

  • AHNG. wh....at...?

  • Somehow this doesn't surprise me

  • based of chinese mythology and made in japan -_-

  • @kokulink Avatar is an american show.

  • @boondocks43 no, avatar is a anime. can't you see how it is animated? But it looks american.

  • @lyue1996 it's not an anime. it was drawn by korean animation studio + the story was written by Americans.

  • @lyue1996 anime comes from the word animation so all of cartoon/anime or like a moving drawings ( ehem 3D animation is on 3D not drawing ) are anime.

But if the animation is for kids and the drawings are funny it called cartoons

  • @kokulink Its made in America isn't it?

  • @kokulink Its true its based off of chinese mythology but Avatar isn't made in Japan, Its created in America and animated in Korea.

  • 'the legend of wang'' oh ya that's really good.

  • So they renamed it "The Legend of Aang"? interesting.

  • @MyFoodIsBad I think they do that in a lot of dubs, I happen to know that the Dutch dub also has "The Legend of Aang" though the final book is "The Last Airbender" again xD

  • LOL This is bound to confuse people who don't know that Avatar isn't Japanese even more XD

  • im going to say this calmly... IT'S NOT AN ANIME EVEN IF THE STYLES SOMEWHAT LOOK ALIKE,(which i don't think they do). yes I am aware that technically anime encompasses all animation, but im going by what many people associate the word with. jeez, despite what some people believe the west IS capable of producing good animated shows.

  • @Dstorm20xx Best example: BATMAN. I'm a huge anime fan, and I still consider it to be better than most Japanese anime. Plus, some of the guys who worked on it actually were Japanese!

  • Who watch this trite anime?

  • @sijotakane Almost everone why? its not even an anime this is just an japanese dub for an american animted serie which is anime based and its freaking awesome!!!

  • avatar's amazing i wouldnt hav started watchin anime if it was for it

  • yay a martial arts cartoon from america which is dubbed in japanese wow who would of thought that would happen :D awesome

  • I know!

  • PENGUIN DA!!!! ajjjajajajajajaj ke grande

  • No, it's from America.

  • @AnimeEric No avatar is american. It was made to resemble Japanese anime. Infact avatar takes place in a china like world.

  • haha so funny^^

  • I love Aang's Japanese voice!!!

  • lol I love how the announcer pronounces AVATAR

  • so aang is pronounced "On"?

  • @Paulismyhero777 With at accent, yes. But what you hear in America is how you properly pronounce the name. lol

  • can't wait till the episodes come out in Japanese....it'll be soooo funny!!! XD

  • weird voice of aang...

  • I wonder why this japanese dub isnt getting hate from people who hate english anime dubs?

it's funny how they hate english anime but dont hate japanese western animation

  • Japanophiles, they are.

  • aang's voice sounds eerily similar to how it was portrayed in "the ember island players" (it's a girl, right?)

  • If they like Japanese voice actors, they'll probably like Japanese voice actors doing dubs.

  • @rotomRASENGAN

    I dunno

I think the voices are pretty fitting except for Azula....

  • @rotomRASENGAN Because Japanese Seiyuus really get on the character, if you listen to them they really get to them in animes, because when you hear the english dub versions they sound a little forced or fake...

  • @rotomRASENGAN I think it's because the people think that the japanese dub suits it.

  • @rotomRASENGAN I can imagine that there are fans of english animation in Japan, no doubt some of them heckle dubbing on foreign anime. Like we may have a bunch of english dub haters.

  • Well, I for example don't really hate english dubs. I think:

Mostly everyone in the world speaks english, but who speaks japanese, even though it is a fascinating language?

If a japanese anime gets dubbed english, part of it gets taken away, the fascination of the japanese language.

But if an english anime gets dubbed japanese, there may even be something added to it. (doesn't mean it's better, I always hold the original language highest). So for me, it's more the japanese language than the dub.

  • i wish i could watch avatar in japanese dub. that would be cool

  • long live Avatar.

  • so, this is animated fr?

    and cre8ed fr?

  • Someone needs new ears.

  • "Densetsu no shounen Aang" doesn't mean the legend of Aang. is means Legendary boy Aang. I think there is a difference there.

  • I really like to watch this in Japanese dubbing, it looks cool.

  • ok ill look it up soo you u well shut up

  • Aang sounds so cute! I'd like to watch the Japanese version!

  • I want to watch in Japanese just for the hell of it!

keeps my Japanese skills in check at least! :D

  • JAPAN is going to dub something that THE US made? Ha, going to be interesting to see how this turns out xD

  • Comment removed

  • They did NOT. Avatar was made in America by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko IN AMERICA. What, you think Japan has the only people who can make anime? :P

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry to burst your bubble but LordManda2 is correct it was made in the US by 2 white guys

  • Don't forget the thousands of South Koreans

  • FUNFACT! Kappa Mikey was the first Anime to be made in America!

  • @m3Atl0afman

FUNFACT! Its not anime if its not from japan

  • @m3Atl0afman, Kappa Mikey isn't anime.

  • Comment removed

  • no it wasnt it was made in the u.s. is it based on asians yes and their culture yes and im not being mean or anything but look it up on wiki or any other website theyll tell you the truth

  • True, its American made anime but they had it animated in South Korea.

  • kind of a swa[ of roles huh

  • jajajaj lol nic3!

  • aang's voice -___________-''''

  • I want the first person who sees this comment to let me know their opinion. Say Toph were to be introduced in Avatar in Japan, what would everyone think about rie kumigiya playing the role?

  • I wonder if it's already airing in Japan... I'd watch it.

  • kAta jDosa jaskd JKDs io IDJoKJSakl död saop.

döödel döödel döödeln. i didnt understand more XD

  • ....I didnt know japan had nick..

  • I KNOW RIGHT!? who knew?!

  • I wonder if its better than american nick....eveything is better in japan...hahahaha

  • to true! :D

  • Please be trolling....

  • me too...woow...

  • Ehh I hope they match the voices okay...

  • Haha, they spelled it ah-ba-ta...

  • bla bla bleee bla bla avataa..lmao

  • i neeeeeed to see that!!

  • everythings fast like the language.

  • XD I love the way they say Avatar. AHVAHTAH!

  • I lol'd

    AHHHH-VAAAHHHH-TAAAAAAAAAh!

  • Call me stupid but i want a fansub

  • ME TOO!!

  • When you say that it makes me think people are going to start bashing on the english version saying that it didn't fit the Japanese on enough.

  • they won't i'm just really excited about this..

  • lol i think so too XD

  • nice video

  • Hang on, in Episode 5 The King of Omashu theres a joke when Katara says "You can't keep us here, let us leave!" and then king Bumi says "lettuce leaf?" that joke would not work in japanese (I think).

  • There's something called ''adaptation'' XD

  • They'd probably include their own joke. To be honest, they have quite a few times in almost every anime where plays on words are used.

  • That lettuce joke doesn't work in Spanish too, but I really dont care.

  • XD. Why am I laughing?

  • Why will they butcher it? Japanese network usually change things that are inappropiate in Japanese culture. Though, the translation will be solid since Avatar is Asian influence and some Japanese culture incorporated.

  • Yeah,it has Japnese culture in it.But it has waaaay more Chinese culture in it.

  • lol i wanna watch the japanese version xD

  • You can, go to Nick Japan website a there only 2 video voiced in Japanese, "The Storm" and "Spirit World".They is also one video recorded by a Japanese Avatar Fan in "Warriors of Kyoshi". The voice acting is pretty natural.

  • whats the website? O_O

  • Awesome!

  • Yeah. Anyway, anybody know if any more previews can be found?

  • hey if you can even get a segment of an episode, upload it! That'd be awesome!

  • Damnit, not a single sample of the voiceacting.

  • I wonder if will they make an anime of it we mustn't forget what happened with the powerpuff girls and TMNT(The old series)

  • I think, and it's a very personal opinion, that Avatar has too many anime characteristics already, turning it into an anime would be a bit..hmm...odd, hehe :)

  • Does anyone have any idea what the voice is saying? I don't speak Japanese.

  • It says on wikipedia that they're looking for more dubbing artists. If that's the case, they should use:

    Rumi Hiiragi - Toph

    Akira Kamiya - Ozai

    Rumi Ochiai - Azula

    Emiri Katou - Ty Lee

    Yu Kobayashi - Mai

    Akira Ishida - Haru

  • Kagami is Ty Lee and Gaara is Haru?!
