@warlockmanBT If you have an unholy DK for Ebon Plague or a Boomkin with Earth and Moon, then CoA is the best curse to improve your dps. If you con't have the Dk or the boomkin then Curse of the Elements is better for your dps.

i find the affliction rot. is very easy,

SB,Haunt,UA,CoA,and for the final DoT corruption,then i just fill with SB to keep up high crits and SE,and refresh in fallen DoTs,and i prefer imp for raid HP buffs and it is a great addition to my ranged dps,but thank you for the glyphs tips,they have greatly improved my dps,you are a very skilled warlock

The mathified "best" build is Affliction+doomguard followed by Deep destruction without replenishment followed by deep affliction.

Most "high end" raiders are choosing Destruction. 

I prefer Affliction.

This build includes Suppression you can more easily get to the hit cap. Hit is the number 1 way to increase your dps

There is enough Triumph badge and BOE /crafted gear that you should easily be able to get a nice set of raiding gear before ever setting a foot into a raid.

I think that haunt should be cast after just befor SB , so my rotation is :

corruption ,

UA

Coa , then haunt and fill with SB ,

corruption will be up , and haunt cover more SB cast , cause SB is the main dps spell of shadow lock (afflic).

personally , I prefere hybrid build demono/destruc for "static" dps , with decimate rotaion in the execute phase (total dps about 4800) , but against boss like heigan ..I found that afflic is better ...

I disagree that this is only good for static bosses. I used this rotation throughout Ulduar and ToC. Most fights consist of occasional movement.. there are very few that are constant movement fights.  But even on those (Hodir) I maintain very high DPS.

I don't play a DK so I really don't know. I recommend posting this on the Power Auras discussion forum on WowInterface or Curse.

Power Auras from what I recall can be used with any spell from any class--you just need the exact spell name. So yes, but since I've never done it with a DK I don't know the specifics. (I use it for soulfire procs on my Meta lock)

I believe you're referring to the times showing on the button bar to the right of the HUD. The button bar is "button timers" and the numbers on the buttons are controlled by "OmniCC"

Also, what do you do about trash mobs? I'm a noob to 80, just getting into 5-man heroics, and I feel a bit bad getting 900dps when everyone else is doing 1.5-2k.

to continue... I generally dot them all with corruption to maximize my chance of instant-cast shadow bolt (with glyph of corruption + Nightfall, which gives a bit less than 8% chance for insta-bolt), and making good use of seed of corruption, but even then I have crap dps against trash.

I realize that afflic spec just isn't designed for trash, but I wonder if you have any good strategies to maximize your dps. I'll see how much I improve with your strategies; I definitely need to get a Glyph of Life Tap and start using the low-ranking life tap.

Run Heroics, get the new badges. I saw tasty dps increase just from adding the T8 head piece and a weapon from H-ToC.

If your Life Tap buff is up and you don't need the mana, hold off on life tap.  You can do it every 3rd or 4th Haunt and still keep the buff up. I saw a nice dps boost from that too.

In an AOE pull if there are 4+ mobs I will cast seed of corruption and tab taget. Seed, tab, seed, tab, seed, tab.

If there are 3 targets I will seed 3 times and then use Rain of Fire.

If there are two targets I will fully dot up target 1 and then fully dot up target 2 (except for haunt) and then return to target 1 and use SB until it dies.

If you're asking about the button/bars to the right of the HUD (the parentesis around my character) then that addon is "ButtonTimers".

ButtonTimers allows you to setup a button bar and then if there is a dot associated with that button then a timer bar shows above the button. Onto this bar I dragged my Haunt, corruption, CoA etc.

Iv been told that destro/demo spec is now out DPSing in PVE. I re-specced from heavy afflic to destro/demo and think that it has made my DPS much better and also makes PVP more fun. What do you think?

There's a quest in your 50s. Check wowHead for "Ritual of Doom". I think it starts in felwood.

Lifetap, then HAUNT, then CoA, then Corruption, then Unstable Affliction, THEN spam Shadow Bolt and keep the rest of the dots up.

That's the rotation for maximum DPS. The only disadvantage is that you don't stack the Shadow Mastery (I think that's it) debuff until the last spell of your rotation, BUT think about this: in the 3 seconds it takes to cast shadow bolt you can have already cast Haunt, Curse of Agony (which should be cast early since it does more damage as it progresses), & Corruption

I dont' know that it makes that much difference. Whether you apply xyz or zyx, after the setup phase you spend -WAY- more time in the maintenance phase. Really, any DPS gains are going to come from optimizing that.

Your DPS is very dependant on your raid make up and your gear. At my current gear level (mostly Naxx-25) I'm hitting ~2.5-3.3k in a normal 25-man when I'm not using my doomguard. DG adds ~600-1k dps.

Life tap -> Shadow bolt -> Haunt -> Corruption -> Unstable affliction -> Curse of agony -> Shadow bolt -> and now just dot up target each time it goes off, repeat it like that your dmg is the best... IMO

With patch 3.1 Blizz changed it so that you can have either Immolate OR Unstable Affliction on your target. You can't have both spells on the same target. Since I'm Affliction I spec'd into UA.. and it does better damage than Immo.

At the moment "best" DPS is either Affliction+doomguard or Deep Destruction (without replenishment). I prefer affliction playstyle. This may change with the 3.2 changes.. but it really looks like Blizz is striving to make all specs roughly equivalent.

CoE adds +13% spell damage. This same buff can be given by a Boomkin (Earth and Moon) or an Unholy Deathknights (Ebon Plagebringer passive). Most raids I run in have another class providing this buff. So if I changed form CoA to CoE it would ONLY be a drop in DPS.

I -could- shift the two points out of Improved CoA and put them into Improved Life Tap.. but the specs already mana neutral. I dont -need- additional mana.

dont use coa, remove coa talent points,and remove coa glyph. use coe, and corruption glyph,and try again. you are win some mana and talent points and time.
