First time I've seen a pick player on a fretless! I must say i prefer the softer attack you get from fingerstyle playing when it comes to the fretless but that's just me. Respect to this guy for the way he approaches the instrument
@LuceRula Yup, but if you have any respect for flea, you'd still call it the fleabass.
Also, in response to the 'fiull potential' discussion, flea uses the bass to its full potential within the music his band plays; tap and harmonics wouldn't work in funk rock etc.
@LuceRula Oh, thanks for strengthening my point. You didn't know he used a plectrum with his fleabass? The MODULUS FLEABASS, on the entirety of californication and by the way!
@LuceRula And have you notced he started using a plec when he got his modulus? Therebye sending your entire previous statement to shit.
He just obviously liked the sound a plec makes with the fleabass, then used it for a few more songs! He also used one on venice queen, if i remember right, and a lot near the end of the by the way album.
The best bassists use a bass to its full potential, as those using fingerstyle and plecs do.
2 of modulus' most famous users play with a pick, Phil Lesh and Mike Gordon and i know first hand that they get fuckin great tones with their picks, dont hate on the pick like i used to
this is why I want a frettless. so i can make awesome jams like that guy just did. love the bass. love that little jam even more.

@LuceRula Correction, he does. Let's see, parallel universe, phat dance, don't forget me, fortune faded, and i think this is the place.
Get the facts right.

what kinda bass is this?

This is a beautiful Modulus Quantum bass with Chechen fretboard.
Probably with Bartolini pickups and preamp, to make it sound even warmer (than with EMG's).
Now, who dares to say that graphite/composite necks sound sterile and cold?
I got a Quantum too, absolute pro instruments, BEST B-string ever (a bit pricey too... but top-notch, what do you want).

Nice! I have Quantumm too(fretted),they make great basses.

i agree, i used to bash pick users, but there's no need for it. pick style is just as legitimate as fingerstyle

who cares, his tone is awesome. The best players can use both
