@ismainau Brabus is a tuning company. They don't actually make engines. Compared though to the V12s in the Ferrari 599 and the new Lamborghini Aventador, it's not as powerful. It's not even as powerful as the V10 engine in the last two generations of the Dodge Viper. But frankly, I love the sound of that engine. It doesn't sound so sterile and whiny like Ferrari and Lambo's V12, and it growls more like a lion then a dog, like an American engine.

Really, a 6.0 liter V12 that only makes 517 horsepower? Even the Americans can do better than that. Lamborghini makes 700 hp from their V12 and Ferrari 660 hp. Aston's engineers suck (but their designers rule).

Its not only that they produce a lot of torque from the engine but also that they produce it over a very large rev range, thats the key, high torque over a large rev range makes for a car thats very easy to drive. Which is exactly what aston martin want.

strange how this new aston martin v12 vantage even when it has its 510 hp engine and its the lightest aston martin car still tops out at its 190 mph. I really like this car but seriously the db9 does 190, the older vanquish does 190, the dbs does 191, the new v8 vantage s does 190 and now this does 190.

I mean Aston martin (like all car manufacturers) down-tune their engines to meet the environmental laws. With a good ECU remapping, I'm sure you can easily get the car above 190 mph.

@carsmything302 Most car's are like that. You can usually gain at LEAST 100hp just from engine management alone. My M5 gained about 90hp from it, my M Coupe gained about 85, not to mention they usually increase your redline, allowing the car to go faster. Another thing that would get that car up to that speed is a different gear ratio. That engine is very capable of those speeds, and if unleashed can produce insane power.

517 HP out of a 6 liter v12 is so little. Mitsubishi gets 400 HP out of a 2 liter straight 4 with the FQ-400. And 5.9 sec to 60 is utterly slow, alright the guy driving the didn't do his best and the weather sucked but it's still is too slow for a car of that value. But nice vid though

@Niel360 the actual 0-60 time is 4.2seconds. and that mitsu is turbocharged, its not even a valid comparison. if this engine was turbocharged it would be capable of making far more power. but really, at 517 hp, how much more is necessary? lol

525 hp 3.9 seconds and that might be because of the 4wd but it doesn't matter to me, the only thing that matters is how fast it hits 60 mph that's what I'm trying to say and the Aston is just to slow and Audi gets 525 Hp out of a atmospheric 5.2 Liter V10 and Aston "only" 517 out of a atmospheric 6.0 Liter V12.

@Niel360 i agree, the r8 is very nice, and i like the mid-engine layout . but to compare power you don't look solely at peak power, you compare the power throughout the entire usable powerband. the aston's v12 might make 8 fewer horsepower than the audi's v10, but the aston makes 30 extra lb/ft of torque, so it has better midrange power. and yes, the 4wd on the audi gives it the 0-60 advantage, but personally i prefer rear-wheel-drive. of course i will probably never own either of these cars!
