  • BIGG UP To One of the Best Drum & Bass duo's!!! Steve Grizzly Nesbitt , Ronnie 'Stepper' McQueen

  • Band Members Brains In Sync To I Other Level Rasta! To Break Down Live in Dub, I- Mazing

  • yea maybe ^^ but nottttt steelllllll pulse the best :D

  • omg that bass is just redunkulous

  • Steel Pulse the best for ever.

  • no Aswad

  • Midnight in Mobay.

A room across the street at The View

Hot Peanuts, sky juice and a spliff.

    Seems so far away...

  • It's a killer play

  • I saw that same vid Kululu, and I don't believe it was Bob that would do that to Peter. Bob is not my favorite artist, but I know what I know about the Wailers just as I know what I know about SP.

You wanna know why you don't hear about this? What happened to Family Man? He sued the Marley Family for money he didn't receive through Rita after Bob's death. She called Family a "session player", when he was went Bob from beginning to end, him and Carlton, providing that one drop and bass...

  • ...like noone else could. Rita herself has said (I can find the quote if you want it) that Bob saw Familyman as simply a session player, do you seriously believe that man?

Can I give you proof? Naw man I can't. If Alvin or Conrad accused David of any wrongdoing, they'd get brought to court for slandering his good rep, and they'd probably lose. I got no ill feelings toward you or anyone else that's on your side.

  • As I said, Bob is not my favorite artist, but I collect music, so I have all the Wailers releases from Catch A Fire onward. Catch a Fire's is my favorite album from the Wailers, I love what Peter and Bunny did for that album. Love their solo work too, but we're on SP not the Wailers, but I find it strange that Bob and Peter or Bob and Bunny didn't do that much together after the split, but Peter and Bunny helped each other out (I got proof of this). Who knows that story....I don't.

  • I'm on the losing side here, I know this, which is also why I'd never get into politics.

Let me end this 4th post with a quote from the Gladiators..."Looks is deceiving."

Or better yet, David Hinds himself says "Dem a wolf in sheeps clothing."

  • I saw a Wailers documentary where his wife was hissing like you about Bob not allowing Peter Tosh to join in on the act but to me it was rather that Jewish intelligent and smart genius of a producer, Chris Blackwell pulling the strings and figuring how he make the Wailers more OUTERNATIONAL. And lo and behold, he did it in style through ONLY Bob. The end justify the means.

    I REST MY CASE.

  • This problem occured during the Wailers infantile stage, especially between Tosh and Marley. No disrepesct to Tosh but his voice quality is far below Bob - He was 55% while Bob was without a doubt hovering around 90% so putting him on the act would be more a liability than progress for the entire band.

  • David's voice, if push come to shove, arguably stands at the summit in the company of ALL these LEGENDS. His style of singing and voice quality is soooo strong, rich, clear and crisp even reggae lovers who are non-black and non-English speakers can follow his lyrics easily. Hence my personal view that only his voice must be presented to make the Steel Pulse brand, unique and easily recognisable, thus higly marketable.

  • I reasonably expect petty misunderstandings in any social or professional working unit like a band now and then - mostly on professional or business lines. I personally believe that David Hinds silky and unique voice must be the ONLY voice of Steel Pulse, period! Like Bob's , Burning Spear or Mykal Rose cos their voice is sooo strong, unique and symbolises the brand of their respective bands.

  • Dancehall or Ragga artiste are different kind of breed to me; almost like the primadonas of Gangster rap. I don't check with them lot.

Give me Steel Pulse or David Hinds ANY day or time and I would be SORTED! Don't know about you though but I feel sad for you and until you given me any concrete prove to support your allegations, I ain't BUYING it MATEY!

  • I felt the same when I met Burning Spear after his 2002/3 show 10 mins walk from my house at Kentish Town Forum. Same as Mikyal Rose. He spent 2 hours with about a dozen of us Uhuru fans outside on the pavement - not even on a cosy leather sofa backstage - chatting, joking and giving us info about forth-coming Black Uhuru's Get-Together concert dates.

  • Apart from Law, I did psychology at uni and can read personalities like a flash and both, especially David really did'nt come across as arrogant, egoistic, dictatorial or snubbish - 99% of Roots Rock Reggae stars are in that similar vein.

  • Taking into consideration that they've just done a hard gig for hours. No bling bling or swearing or even a single negative comment about where they've been over all these years. As a matter of fact, they told me about a heart-warming stories of their African trips which brought tears to my eyes.

  • I am simply a fan of the reggae music in general and Steel Pulse music in particular. Am not a family or close buddy - I met David only once after attending my first and only Steel Pulse concert at London's Astoria on Charring Cross Road about 3 years ago.

I reasoned up with the PROPHET himself backstage for about an hour with Bombo too. Both were laid-back, humble, respectful, chatty, jokey and intellectually stimulating.

  • David is propably not commenting because maybe he views your comments as ridiculous and deranged. I say maybe.

I stand to be corected but yet no evidence so CASE DISMISSED Sir or Madam.

  • 3. You are making some wild unsubstantiated allegations here which majority of YouTube members will term as CHARACTER ASSASSINATION to say the least man. 4. None of these so-called badly treated ex-band members has accused David in public about all these CRIMES. And you want me to believe you? What next time? David is Al-Qaida member? Or has joined the Taliban?

  • I can't see any solid prove here apart from your own personal deductions. Until I hear these past members on DVD or radio saying otherwise, am not buyin it blood. Even if I heard them saying that and David is not around to defend his corner, am not buying it.

No man Shall bear false witness against his neighbour says the Holy Book.

    Peace brethren

  • Understood, these aren't just my own deductions, like I said I have spoken to Alvin Ewen about why he and Conrad Kelly were kicked out. You will never hear this from David. I mean, why would he destroy his own rep when he could just say what you want to hear? Like a politician.

So yea, if you took law you know exactly what I'm talking about ;)

Sad to hear that you are one that blindly follows. One more question, why does David never say anything himself on the Website huh?

  • He says what you want to hear. That's all man. So follow him if you want, it's whatever. I respect him as a musician, he has helped make some of my favorite music, and I was raised on SP, but as a man, I don't respect him.

  • Sorry DreadyDiggs, but it seems you getting your boxer's in a twist now and throwing your toys out of the pram man.

    1. I am NOT a Blind Follower of anybody apart from Jah. 2. I have NEVER heard any soul in my life say even a single bad word about David Hines or Steel Pulse.

  • I believe all the members or atleast with Stepper, parted company amicably. I know fro a fact that Grizzly was down to ill health.

David said in INTROSPECTIVE (the lasted documentary video) that Stepper is still in touch but based in the States and wearing his dreads to his ankle. Now you telling us David is a liar?

They can re-unite if the circumstances is right. Family members even do have a tiff now and then and run away from each other for years but no bog deal abouit EGOISMS?

  • Now Nigerians are waking up and realising that Fela Kuti was a prophet. Modern world expect Jesus or any other prophet to turn up with a long beard with blond hair and blues wearing roman sandals. So Jesus turns up tomorrow in Prada or Gucci, no matter how many miracles he performs, he won't convince 90% of the world population. What a sad fucking world we live in?

  • May God rain blessings on Steel Pulse till they depart this Earth in their sleep when they all just passed 100 years. Not in cold old people's home in England though but in the warm Carribean or their roots - AFRICA.

I pray all the originl members REUNITE once for one big MOTHER of ALL Concert though. Maybe in Africa or the Carribean or South America or any otehr place they are respected and revered.

  • Has anyone of you ask yourself why you never get bored with either the roots rock reggae or the raw organic Mississipi Blues from John Lee Hooker or Muddy Waters? the answer can be found in your unconscious mind brthren n sistren hence we all not gonna get out of the either Blues or Reggae ALIVE! We gonna die with these two genre ringing in our ears, mind and heart and soul! PEACE!

  • I always do get goose pimples when I hear that track. Same as Marley's Natural Mystic or Black Uhuru's Fleety Foot or Burning Spears's Slavery Days. All these tracks feature a very distinct drum n bass lines which takes your soul back to the dark continent where civilisation begins.

  • Back to the bass issue, Stepper is the baddest of them ALL. Check out my number favourite track - Wild Goose Chase - and u will realised that no bassist can fill Stepper's shoes. Same as Grizzly. We all know that it is the bassline and d thunderous drums that forms the heart beat of any reggae tune. True or False? And the drums and the thumping soul-shaking bassline of Stepper "Psycho" Mcqueen takes no prisoners blood!

  • Secondly, Steel Pulse of the 80's were just fresh, mystical, blibical and extremely radical than the Talibans and that's how I like my Jah music. Steel Pulse and Fela Kuti are twins from a different planet but sing from the same song sheet. Check this 80's sunsplash Blues Dance Raid - classic vibes. The blibical era costume just blows me over anytime. David looks like King David. Too majestic; Phonzo Martin like Joseph; Grizzly like Moses; but my favourite is Stepper - Cool n collected Moses.

  • ya same vid but from different events.

  • this is the reggae sunslash video from when because i'm not shure from when because on the same video you can see aswad rigth???

  • hey guys !!! is it posible to find some one that has the dvd of this concet to pls let me know i want to purchise it really really want it

  • i had it. i have no idea where its at now.

  • Son excelentes, vinieron a Venezuela y tienen una gran banda, me gustò mucho.. El pròximo mes vienen y los volverè a ver!!

  • What happened to this bass player now?

  • Stepper (Ronald McQueen) left the band on good terms after the Earth Crisis album. He's in California in a band called Mongoose. Then came Alvin Ewen, who left a few years ago, and the new bassist is Amlak Tafari. Alvin was a much faster bassist than Amlak, who has the speed that's a lil faster than Stepper. Doesn't sound bad at all, but I definitely favor Stepper and Alvin.

  • big time. its just not the same. thanks for the info.

  • Glad to share :) Steel Pulse will never be the same or as great as it once was, we can only enjoy what it has become.

  • Well, I saw a big baldheaded bass player last I saw them, he messed up a few times i remember. They have to much keyboard coming out now, and they don't use enough reverb and the guitar they just don't sound as good as they used to. They are badass though.

  • Big baldheaded would be Alvin Ewen. He's been the most talented bassist they've had. Watch the DVD Steel Pulse Live at the Archives. Stepper paved the way for him, he wrote some awesome bass lines for early Steel Pulse, but he lacked speed. I didn't mind it, loved to watch him step to the slow groovy riddim. Amlak can't match Alvin in speed, so he returns to a Stepper sound, but it just ain't the same. He can get groovy, but I know his story and don't like it.

  • Dready Diggs it seems you know your shit blood and I kinda admire that because if you love and respect soemthing that much, you cant help to carry out critique and analysis now and then. Me personally, I love and worship my Steel Pulse full stop! But my favourite would be Stepper bcos the brethren is sooo cool n laid back like Breezy Sunday Morning on the bass and that's how I like it. Fuck m! We talking about a reggae band and not some fucking Guns N Roses stoned on all kinds of junk man.

  • Yes I! I know what I speak of, and if I didn't I would hold my tongue. I was raised on Steel Pulse, and have watched them rise and fall. I'm actually going to go see them July 10th, just to remember what used to be. Stepper and Grizzly were the best DnB section Steel Pulse had. They just flowed, and even though I probably favor Alvin more than Stepper, he wouldn't have been without what Stepper did for him. Amlak Tafari is just an ass kisser. David's ego will never allow a reunion. :(

  • Ooooooh come on brethren, PLEASE don't diss David cos he is a son of God. A whole prophet with a golden heart and selfless attributes.

I think you hitting below the belt by that negative comment. What grounds are u standing on to substantiate that serious accusation blood?

David Hinds has done too much for Steel Pulse and Black people over the bloody whole continent and even people of all races who have been thread upon by the forces of evil n suppression. And u telling us he's got an EGO?

  • Kululu0000, I know for a fact David has an ego. I'll go from past to present. Alphonso Martin left the band on bad terms man. David finally just started playing Your House live, he wouldn't before because Phonso had a lot to do with that song. David didn't want to sing anything dealing with Phonso. Why do you think Selwyn doesn't sing lead as much? David wants the spotlight and Selwyn lets him have it. If you've followed Pulse you know what kind of voice Selywn has.

  • Babylon Makes the Rules (just started getting sung live again). Don't Be Afraid? Stay With the Riddim? Basil left basically because he didn't like the way the band was headed, but he doesn't say if it was David or music companies. Now on to non-founding members. I have spoken to Alvin Ewen several times, and am still in contact with him. I know for a FACT he and Conrad Kelly were kicked out because David asked the band to behave a certain way and they wouldn't stand for it.

  • They weren't even kicked out in person. They got a call over the phone, and not from David. He said that before they were kicked out, David hadn't really spoken to them for months. He can say what he want on his DVD, and I have the DVD, but I treat him like a politician. He use politrics to mask what he really feels. If he ever gets a horn section again he'll suprise me. He said at one point "It's hard to find horn players that are good vocalists as well." The dude had KEVIN BATCHELOR!!

  • KEVIN BATCHELOR. Who plays and sings with the Skatallites now. HE had him and Jerry Johnson. But he kicked them out because he didn't want them performing on any other projects, EVEN though he's introduced Sidney Mills as also working with KRS-1 productions, but he hasn't done that in a while, maybe he stopped. Kululu, everything is not what it seems man. Money corrupts, and you can even listen to SPs sound over the years, they've been lost. You'll never see your reunion man. It's a shame

  • Well brethren, it seems you know a lot which is alien to my ears but since I don't half of what you are saying in public, I won't challenge you or put you down - I did law at university and therefore holds this legal maxim close to my heart: "Innocent until Proven Guilty"

  • Unfortunately, David's voice was a lot stronger and clearer back then (when this video was made). His voice sounds more hoarse and thin nowadays. Oh, well, what's a brotha gonna do?

  • ecelente

  • Que buena versión ..... directo a mis favoritos.
