what if it oils down the rear during acceleration? the point of maintenance is to prevent things like that from happening. if it happens, the consequences won't be much different than if it oils down the rears. our local track is over 1/2 mile long anyways. if the fronts get slick we can just wait to turn and use the brakes gently if there is no compression to slow it down.

originally we were going to change it after the first season, but it worked well, looked decent, and got a great reaction from the fans. so yes, we are going to leave the exhuast like that. however, we may add a flamethrower setup to it in the future to get the sweet look of flames without the poor running engine.

sounds and looks like its running way too lean. if its just a timing problem it should be a easy fix you should be able to get it close just by ear, if not then you might need to pull off the timing cover and make sure you got the cam and crank marks in the right spot. just one tooth off can cause alot of problems. also check and make sure your distributor's wieghts are moving freely.

The only reason why i can see u putting a chevy motor in there is cause there cheap to make... But if you want power go with a 454ci. Thats just if your a chevy guy.. BUT if you want a REAL mans power get a 460 motor

the only way to go with a 454 is with a small block... the only small block 454 i've found runs about 12 grand. and yes, the cost is the main reason to go chevy. initial investment and repairs are far cheaper than ford. the maverick we are building now is living proof of that. we've got about $5k into a windsor and it's not gonna be much better than the $2k chevy we built... btw, check my other stang videos out, we got it running a lot better, and now it runs 9's in a 23T altered dragster

I would normally put down the fact that its a Chevy motor, but they are cheaper and easier to build, but Ford ones have a better HP output once built (in my experience they do, depends on the motor itself though).

Maybe next time you could put an engine like that in the Chrysler van that was beside the Mustang xD.

Once i went to Newport Dragway in Newport, TN, and there was 2 Ford Pinto's there. One had a 460, and the other had a 351 Cleveland. The one with the 460 did 4 seconds on an 1/8 mile XD.

nice idea of the headers in front of the tire...usually i like them in front of the rear tires, but yours has a nice look, and 11.49 is pretty quick so if there were logos on it, who'd see them!! Nice machine!

we routed the headers that way because we suck at welding and we were having troubles finding a set of headers that didn't point the pipes straight through the steering shaft. the simple solution was a set of shorty headers installed on the wrong sides of the engine, facing forward and pipe bent at a 90 right in front of the front tires.

Yep I could. In fact, we have a 1934 Ford 3 Window Coupe and we just bought a brand new Ford Racing 302 small block. 9" rear end. It will be done in about a year. I'd be happy to show you pics when it gets looking beautiful. I just don't think Chevy is the way to go in Fords, and so many people do it too. The car is worth so much more with Ford motors in Ford cars. Why not just buy a camaro or something?
