  • You did the right thing.

  • It's my understanding that there is no cure for this condition. Sounds like this was the humane thing to do.

  • is it safe to eat with the disease no?

  • @4estadventurer I don't know if it would be safe to eat, but just to be safe I wouldn't eat it.

  • Parts of Australia were overrun by rabbits (mostly brown rabbits) in years gone by, until we introduced myxomatosis (accidentally released, in fact). Since then, some populations have developed a resistance to myxo, but now we have caleci virus working as well.

In my state of Queensland, it is still illegal to keep any sort of rabbits except for medical research or (seriously) if you need one for a magician act.

  • any rabbit with mixy should be shot if not for the sake of that rabbit but for the others it will infect , my m8 thought i was cruel cos i circled the roundabout and came back in myself just to run over as i missed the first time round,

  • Sad. Poor thing was in pain, you put him out (It was a favour) gimme a quick bullet over a slow death any day.

  • Varmint holes and horses don't mix.

  • I'd like to pop off a few bunnies in my yard...in the springtime there are more rabbits around than I have ever seen in my area. They're all stretched out in my driveway in the sun like it's Bunny Club Med. I can't get a damn thing to grow that I could remotely call a "garden" between the rabbits & the deer. Even owning cats & a dog doesn't deter the bunnies, they're bold & destructive. I mean, they're cute, but they're way outta hand.

  • I don't know why anyone thinks hunting by gun is inhumane. I'd rather be shot than have some bear or other predator rip my organs out with its teeth while I lay there convulsing for ten minutes.

  • @CabhanListis Agreed

  • I had the same thing happen to me a year ago...was putting away my firearm into my shed and saw rabbit crawl all around the perimeter wall of the back yard. The rabbit kept going until it came to my feet...I choose mercy over a natural death

  • this is mercy killing. dunno why people would rate this down.

fuck, one quick blow to the head will save it from many days or even weeks of suffering and starving to death.

  • The rabbit is pretty!

  • i have never heard of this disease tell i watched this then i googled it. O_o

  • be vawy vawy quiet....

  • ye hes got mixamototis if im spelling right...once i bent a shot and when i was walking over to were the rabbits ran in,there was a mixy rabbit sitting there deaf and blind and his eyes were swollen alot so i killed him quick

  • be careful when handling wild rabbits infected with it, and don't go around domestic pet rabbits. Cause it can spread to them, and kill them too. This rabbit almost looked like it had an upper respiratory infection, by the way iot was breathing. Ive never personally seen a rabbit with myxy though.

  • @EzioAuditore

hi this particular bunny was about 5yds from me,so holdover was very hard to judge at that distance!

so i couldn't take the shot! so i moved it see me and ran!

20 minutes later it came back out at 25yds,so i done the humane thing!

    Davy

  • hope you did the right thing

  • myxomatosis...

  • shoot the rabbit ... shoot the rabbit !.... why not shoot the rabbit? ¬¬

  • YEAH!

  • why didnt you kill him. with mixy it is the kindest thing to do

  • nice

  • U should have put it out of it's misery

  • @tateortot32 mixy is a disease scientists created to control rabbits it is highly contagious so that is why it is so affective if a rabbit has mixy and goes into a rabbit hole others catch it

i think it is spread by fleas im not 100% sure on that though but its horrible to see best just pop a pellet into any you come across

  • @SuperShaunyboy Myxomatosis wasn't created by scientists. It was discovered in the late 1800's and introduced to Australia to help kill off the invasive rabbits there. Since that time it has spread worldwide.

  • @SuperShaunyboy Mate myxi is not man made. It was first described in Uruguay in South America in about 1880 ish. It is very similar to several diseases that affect other rodents but most especially the genetic family of Leporidae that all rabbits belong to. Most of the scientific research into the disease over the years has been to find an affective treatments and thanks to that research your pet rabbit can now be treated with vaccine. Dr Paul Armand Delille introduced it to France in 1952.

  • Hey, Can you help me out and tell me what mixy is? Is the rabbit born with it?

  • @TATEORTOT32 Mate type Myxomatosis into Wikipedia and you will find a reasonably good explanation of the dieses. But in simple terms its just a virus. If you do come across a rabbit with it make certain you wash your hands boots after and don’t go near any pet rodents for a week or so. If any pets you have become ill when the local rabbit population have myxi remember to mention this to you vet when he or she is treating them as it may affect the treatment given.

  • @tina6581 actually mixy only affects rabbits...

  • @rimfire2217 Bull shit son stop trolling and get a life.

  • @tina6581 yeah hahaha thought not

  • you're a wanker, got beat yourself looking at a door, peasent...

  • Can you believe that Myxomatosis was made in a Uruguay laboratory, and then released into Australia in the 1950's to control the rabbit population?! Interesting how that turned out. Still killing rabbits today.

  • @edawg792 not true mate its not man mads that an old wifes tail

  • La caccia è sbagliata come te,

    cretino down

  • do you come across many on your shoots mate? with mixy!?

  • @PLINKINATOR

    HI BUDDY

no not really, but starting to see a few more this year!

    regards

    davy

  • I hope you put the poor thing out of it's misery :/

  • que cagada

  • and they say hunting is wrong!

when there are too many rabbits about this is what happens, a very sick nasty death. I would prefer a bullet in the head any day.

  • looks like mixy. you can pretty much walk up and neck rabbits with mixy. i once was out in the pouring rain and there was 1 rabbit in the middle fo the field with mixy. it did not even know it was raining. it was shivering, deaf and blind so i just gave it point blank
