It's too bad the Civil Air Patrol now spies on American citizens as aparachiks of the Dept of Fatherland Security. Instead of flying SAR missions the Candy Ass Perverts of the Civil Air Patrol are taking pictures of your property with multispectral cameras and feeding that information live to the DHS. They went from saving lives to threatening freedom.
@forestryprof Look up Civil Air Patrol Archer system, they take pride in their new Cessna 182's equipped with these new systems. FLIR's too. I went to re-join in 2004 and was told this up front. At that time they were experiencing a large number of sr members dropping out because they did not want to support missions being flown over American cities with these systems. I was asked if I had such problems after answering that I did not support such missions I was told the CAP was no longer for me.
@forestryprof I wish I was wrong. I wish I did belong in the 'tin hat squad'. The sad thing is we as a society are creating the very crazy systems that 20 years ago only a paranoid person would think up let alone bring into reality. This unfortunate process is corrupting us all and taking an organization that did important work and turns it against the very society it used to serve.

To anyone who's actually in CAP. The erroneous assumptions about us "spying" on America are nothing but a good laugh.
