Metheny's music is always good. Even excellent when in the background. In my case that is a feat because I am horrendously easily distracted. But with Metheny I actually work better.
Am I the only one who notices that some later Mario games have borrowed this overall sound? Not the platformers, but like, some of the other ones. Maybe it's just my imagination.
Is there any coincidence that the track length is 5-5-7 backwards? See, that's what I like about Pat and his group; they pay attention to fine details.
@100PercentGreen yes they do, but this is not the meaning of the title: the piece is based on two bars of 5/4 and one bar of 7/4 and this pattern repeats all the time :)
@spoildn8410 Yes, I've had friends compare it to elevator music, but Pat's music is much too nuanced to be put in that category. You might be able to find the original version of Letter From Home from sellers on Amazon. In stores you might be able to find only the "remastered" version. I lost my original 1988 copy of Still Life (talking), so I purchased a brand new "remastered" disc. As soon as I played Last Train Home, I was disappointed to find that the dynamic range was pretty much lost.

Si el bajo del intro es buenisimo, tambien la intro de Lyle es finisimo, una Obra de arte. y Pedro le da la pincelada final.Excelente

The bass intro is killer! I want to say it's Steve Rodby?

So long ago and yet so now. One of my favorite more contemporary tracks
from Metheny.

@JeffJefferson95 I'm aware of that, I just found it interesting that they considered the track length when composing this song.

@100PercentGreen As a Metheny fan, this entire album is worth having. It is kind of like
restaurant or airport lobby music, but a lot better. Nothing here that sounds like modern
or bebop either. It's refreshing. I should have bought Letter From Home when it was new.

@100PercentGreen no disrepect to your friends, but this is so not elevator music. Not even close! :)
willie33040 3 months ago
@100PercentGreen It's too complex to be categorized as elevator music. You and I both know this! :)

Steve Rodby, Bass; I wanna say Wertico on drums, but I don't have that particular CD in front of me...anyone?
SaberMuslim 1 year ago
@SaberMuslim I believe you are correct on that. Wertico on Drums.

@SaberMuslim Yes it is Wertico on drums. I've had this CD for 20 years.
