@death2tubez: Everyone has there mentors, some there dad, some there mom, some highly recognized musicians from all times and genres, Hendrix was a godly talented musician, and has influenced guitarists around the world from 70's to 21st century. When you were young, who did you want to be like?
to all those saying jimi never copied anyone, he did. quite a lot actually. he spent many years copying the styles of blues greats like BB king and buddy guy. you can hear buddy guy in his playing still the most imo. everyone goes through phases where they play like their idols. its a learning process. you just have to make sure you dont get stuck in that forever. unless you want to. if thats what makes you happy, go for it.
Fun Fact Trivvia: Jimi was a left handed player, but he never used *expensive * guitars.. so he took a regular ol' Fender Strat for the right hand, turned it over, and retstrung the strings upside down (look at his guitar in pix).. getting the "wild lows and mellow highs" sounds, which is opposite of what fender designed the guitar to be.
My favorite lick is the very very last thing he does..That open A string lick has got to be the hardest to figure out", Ive ever seen before in my life..Incredible!
Yeah, but even God was like, 'wow, how'd that Hendrix kid learn to play like that?!?!?' Jimmy was that flame that burns in the heart of us all somewhere deep inside, but with him it became an amazing blaze; which licked and burned over empires, His music echos in eternity, it is freedom, justice, the wind crying .. Jimmy is here with us now, in the music he left us, we should be thankful for the effort Drakecamel has made, I mean I'm learning stuff. It is easy to scoff.
@marsCubed I agree with you about Hendrix. However, I am NOT thankful for this Drakecamel individual. There was absolutely NO teaching taking place. Except for maybe the tuning of the A string. The remainder of this video showed a Hendrix wanna-be showing off very minimal amounts of talent, skill and creativity. The horrible audio sure did not help out. Yes, it's easy to scoff when you have such a worthy individual.
@rajtheroge3 hey bud, this guy deserves some props, this is a hack job on a professional teacher. i have one of his vids on ozzys guitarists he's rock solid. he plays it regular speed and then takes it note for note at a pace slow enough anyone can see and learn what he does. his vids are very good an i highly recommend him. he isnt a hendrix wanna be, this is vid in the style of hendrix. the one posted here was hacked together of the regular speed parts and that explains the bad audio.
@marsCubed ..........i hope you realize had he been born in the 90's he seriously would have been your average pot head. guitar in hand or not....jesus.........
Jimi Hendrix was and still is the Best guitarist who ever lived no one can surpass him in any way because his style and love of guitar playing was unbeatable, He didnt just make the guitar talk, he made it sing like an angel R.I.P Jimi
this is like a shitty edit of the original video. The guy does tend to ramble at some parts but the original is like 45 minutes long and much more informative. PS this guy cant play hendrix for shit lol. "if you play like jimi you sound like jimi" Bullshit! Jimi had some sick pedals done by the master electrical engineer for the royal navy of england, other greats also had pedals done by him. Ive noted that no matter what pedal you get you cant get the exact same sound he had, Pedal=Key
you CAN get the exact same pedals made by the exact same guy - roger mayor - but you still wouldnt sound like jimi. no human being could ever sound like 30 sek. of jimi. jimi also used tons of different guitars amps pedals what ever!! he was still jimi
And plenty of people could play some of jimi's stuff to perfection. SRV for one, Albert King for another since a lot of jimi's stuff was actually bitten from him.
To say nobody could play even 30 seconds of jimi perfectly is ridiculous. I agree that pedal is not the key to his playing but it WAS the key to his SOUND. If I plugged into his rig and played the same exact chord he played it would sound the same period. But he was unmatched in skill.
Don't be an idiot, if you can't play guitar then don't comment on guitar playing, stick to whether you like the song or not. And when I say 'if you can play guitar' and I do mean "you all" I mean play the guitar well by intermediate standards atleast.
I know a lot about music and even play some jimi myself, I downloaded some rare old jimi tracks and after listening to one it said, this was a tribute to jimi hendrix played in his style. I almost couldnt believe it. I can admit its a rare thing to hear someone play like jimi but its not impossible, in fact many great players can mimic jimi to a tee. As I mentioned Stevie could as could buddy guy. Some people act like jimi was a magician, he wasnt. He built his sound on other greats.
tell me what players have Jimi's style down as good as he did.
although I think you're mistaken.
takes a trained ear to keep up with Hendrix, but theres intricacies which separate him
ie: Jeff Beck bought one of Jimi's guitars from an auction, to get his sound. Beck uses a lot of feedback just like Jimi did. one of the greatest ever.
yet Beck admitted he couldn't come close to mimicking Jimi
you act like the fact Jimi build his playing on blues greats denotes my point? it does not.
Ive already told you great players who could copy hendrix, SRV and Albert King for 2 and there are many more. Even astounding players who do live acts and mimic him. Im not saying Jimi wasnt amazing, Im saying ANYONE can be copied. Im not going to argue this point any further. Too many asshats act like jimi came from outerspace and wasnt human, nor can he be copied decently. Ive got news for you, Jimi frequently went to shows extremely wasted and his music suffered. He was no god, just a man.
describe what King or SRV recording could fool you into thinking its Hendrix. or in your words, hasve Jimi mimicked to a tee.
Jimi can go to shows wasted, but the fact remains that he was doing things wasted that haven't been mimicked. who else creates the illusion of 3 guitars like Jimi in Killing Floor?
is it a coincidence that the point you aren't willing to explain is the one that makes no sense?
watch the Woodstock improv and tell me anybody who touches on that.
Thumb-chords: I also learned every possible/practical thumb chord from that excellent 'thumb-chord technique for guitar' book, but that's just in standard tuning. Some folk thumb players use different tunings, but it's so difficult to work them out.
because the only way people can sound like themselves is by taking in as much knowledge as possible then applying it in their own fashion, be it tone quality or their own specific playing style.
Yep, and I bet Jimi tried to play like some of his idols, and later created the sound we all love, which made people try to play like him to make their own sounds, and if it sounds good, people will try to play like them, and it goes on.
of course he did, he was inspired by guys like buddy guy and albert king. the whole point of originality is combining all your inspirations in a unique way.
...........you sounded like you were in a hurry. slow down and chill!i think he did have a cold.anyway your good but im not sure i learnt anything except how to tune my a string.did u cut some of the video off or sumthin?

how else can you explain why his tone hasn't been matched?
it is physically impossible for somebody to mimic Jimi perfectly

There is no "tone" in anybodies fingers, the only possible tone comes mainly from the guitar pickups and a little from the guitar body.
