I want information about which pickups could be the best for me and they never answer to any email, my first email was more than a week ago. They didnt seems to watch emails.
Time's running out, you better get started! After you get done making your pickup, you should get started on that race car, and nuclear power plant that fighter jet and nuclear power plant you've been meaning to build.
{ "or you need a more versatile pickup then I would look elsewhere! " }
Filtertron-type pickups are pretty darn versatile, actually. Pete Townshend used them (on his Gretsch 6120) for all the classic Who studio cuts of the '70s, and Agnus Young of AC/DC used them to great effect as well. They're not just suitable for rockabilly.
First off Angus has never used them! Malcolm does in his Jet , but NOT Angus!
Malcolm can get away with it because he use really heavy & I mean Heavy strings( I think he uses 11's or 12's)
As far as Townsend goes, the dude has played Strat's and Tele's throughout his career, which are both twangy instruments so it would seem without reason that he would use Filtertron pups!
Yes, Malcom, not Angus. My mistake. But Townshend did indeed use this Gretsch Chet Atkins 6120 (with Filtertrons) on every single classic Who album of the '70. ...including Quadrophenia and Who's Next. Also Steve Marriot of Humble Pie, Joe Perry, Neil Young. ....the list of rockers who used Gretsch/Filtertrons is quite long. Again, they're not just for rockabillies.
he hasnt just used strats and teles at all. he used rickenbackers built by schecter in the 80's, tons of gibson SG's, LP's and ES models, the 6120, a fender 12 string. Hell he used a double neck SG in 67.
His ES-335 is in the hard rock cafe... the ES is a gibson not a fender.
Look, even hendrix used a variety of guitars not just strats, he used used strats most. Voodoo child was recorded on an SG, he used flying V's and the odd tele too.
Kind of wished the video was longer, but I'm glad you put it up anyway. I have TV Jones Classics in My Gretsch Anniversary and I absolutely love them.
Maybe he could sing...It's Not Unusual, for us...Since he doesn't want to show us the various sounds of the guitar...

That is a great guitar. I am sure that at the price, $2,600 they won't sell many, but it looks well made for sure. The sound is OMFG good.

It's truly subjective.
If you want the twangy rockabilly sound then yes they are great!
If you don't like that style or you need a more versatile pickup then I would look elsewhere!

No, no he used Telecasters made my Schecter in the 80's! Rickenbacker made his Rickenbacker's.
Are you sure the ES is made by Gibson and not Schecter...lol
What exactly was the point of your post?
redrocker1055 2 years ago
