Wow! People seem to think this song is about being a Nazi or something. It's more like a metaphor than anything else.
The lyrics are very vague. It's more like he talks about the German people in general. "I've worshiped myself in you forever--- Until NOW!!!" or could use Hitler as an example, could be talking about world leaders. People take Lyrics WAY to Literal.
The story behind this song is supposidly Ed Kowalczyk was a neo\nazi at the end of his high school days and early 20's. He wrote this song after he left that life. There was an interview done when the album started to get attention where he talked about it. It is deep for sure.
Do you know where this interview might be found. I've tried a google search and nothing seems to come up about Ed's 'nazi' past. Not saying you're wrong or anything, the lyrics fit that theme like a glove
great music. this is the first cd album of LIVE that i own and that was years ago. it still amazes me to listen to their music..feels like listening to your own soul.. deep, profound , melodious, anguished at times but always, always enlightening.. that's Live for me..
Possibly my favorite of this album, i wasnt a fan of the guitar in the verse but its down right beautiful in the chorus, and the vocals and drums always have me putting this song in loop, all in all a GREAT album
Yea instead of bullshit like ' I wanna be a rockstar with a bathroom i can play baseball in' I hope those guys fade into obscurity and have to live under a bridge lol jk
A "top" song that like Selling The Drama, I Alone and Lightning Crashes could have been a huge hit!

Was this song ever on the radio? Because I could have sworn when I was young, I heard the chorus to this song on the radio before.

One of the best rock albums of the 90's. Up there with any Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, or Soundgarden entry.

This is not 'one of the best albums of the 90s' - it's Ok, it's not bad, it's half-decent.... but that's it.
Hope that helps :D :D
