@mpctheg This is a fallacy in the extreme. The discussion at hand is about energy containing compounds on the Earth's surface. Not elements. Not outer space. Because our fuel infrastructure revolves around carbon compounds, we should be looking for sustainable sources of carbon. As plants are the ONLY sustainable source of carbon, it is to our advantage to learn how to convert them into fuels we can readily use.
it would take more energy inpput than energy output.
