  • Subscriber to your channel. Great video. We plan on trying this but for now it inspired us to break out the new Kitchen Aid mixer to make a batch of wheat dough for some home made pizza this evening.

  • @MrSouthofBoston thanks, pls send me photo or two if you build the oven, we have a photo gallery on our site of backyard DIY pizza ovens. thx eric + gardenfork.tv

  • @erochow Will do. Right now my daughter and I are watching your How to Make Pasta video . Great stuff. She enjoys seeing the labs. Thanks for all of the great info guys!

  • The oven works best if the cook gives the brick plenty of time to heat up.

The pizza will bake much better after a few hours of preheating.

  • @starkra yes, the more time the oven has to heat up the better it works. thanks for watching, eric - GardenFork

  • awesome video

  • ahh yes!! Golden Brown and Delicious.

  • going to try this!

  • @Brennellen send some pictures, would love to see your pizza oven, thanks eric - GardenFork

  • @erochow Hi Eric, we will report back in the Summer... Canada's frozen over at the moment. We'll have our black lab (Levon) help us!

  • I really love the videos that you do. I always learn things new. we are going to cook the cookies that you did.Keep up the good work.

  • @TheAsimmons thanks for the kind words, makes it all worth it eric - GardenFork

  • Handy advice!

Saved in my end of the world playlist.

  • @12quillemall5321 we should all eat pizza with that playlist! eric - GardenFork

  • QUick and simple. I think I may give your plan a shot and use COB as an outer layer to insulate it and fill air gaps.

  • @Seezor great. do you mean cob, the mud/straw/sand mixture as an outer layer? i've also seen people add more layers of brick on all sides. thx, eric - GardenFork

  • Great!

  • Awesome! I just happened to have picked up an old bed frame exactly like the one you showed over the weekend. Now I know what to do with it! I do recommend burning off any paint before using it to cook food, wouldn't want any nasty paint chemicals getting on your delicious driveway pizza.

  • I like the idea but I think you should consider adding a warning about using regular construction brick instead of fire brick. Construction brick are not designed to withstand the heat of an open fire and can explode, not like a bomb, but they will fragment at high temperatures and send sharp fragments of brick out like projectiles if these hit you in the eyes or any area of exposed skin they will cause serious injury. Fire bricks won't do this.

  • I've done pizza on my charcoal weber grill, ezpz. The secret is getting the coals in two piles against opposite sides, so the center area under the pizza is clear.

  • twenty minutes to build portable driveway brick oven, give or take.

(individual times will vary) depending if you have one to four energetic Labs!

  • Your t-shirt should read... "Done is better than perfet"

  • Just like a lego pizza oven.

Always great ideas here Eric, now I have another use for the pile of brick out in the yard!

  • @TangoSpiceCompany take pictures and send me some. eric.

  • I am going ot do this, but I will clean the floor brick with a wire brush and soapy water to get off any cement or other stuff to keep any mineral grit off the bottom of the pizza. Other than that, its wonderful. Thanks for the vid.

  • @Bently100 i cleaned the brick base, but did not show it in the vid, good point. eric.

  • Cool video, I've done pizza on my gas grill. it worked pretty good too. Have to get the grill hot and then turn it down and turn the pie so it doesn't burn also.

  • @MegaShaytardfan i've done the grill method too, it works when you don't have the time to build an oven. thx, eric.

  • Driveway pizza. That is classic. Love this video.

  • @GMLFire the driveway pizza thing just came into my head, happens sometimes.

  • The dough is amazing? Naaaa.. Y'ALL are amazing.... ;)

  • @LisaDianeRN thanks lisa, you are amazing too. eric.

  • wow looks great ,and easy.

  • Awesome - how many bricks do you use to make this? Had a look for the plans on your web site - but couldnt see them - can you post the link please. Keep up the good work!

  • My husband is now going to build me one. Yayyy! Thanks again.

  • Wow...what a really awesome portable pizza oven! Love it Eric!

  • @russtex hi russ, go build one!

  • Would it be possible to throw something like a Fibrament Stone in there to get better results?

  • @thePowerPlant not sure , the bricks work just fine for us. ? eric.

  • Looks great! Tomorrow I will start counting the bricks thay lay around here

I want to try this too !! Thanks

  • I haven't been in the mood for pizza for a long time - but now I think I'm going to have to run out and try this. Great video.

  • Great idea with the angle irons! I think I'll have to try - I think I'll try with my baking/pizza stone on top of the brick to make sliding and cooking alittle easier. I get my clay bricks from our city recycle yard for free. Thanks!

  • @juswatchinintosa the pizza on the brick was not an issue for me, putting a baking stone on the brick floor may or may not help. the brick floor is not even/smooth, so the baking stone may be kinda wonky, not sit flat.

take some pictures of what you build and pls send them, would like to see eric @ gardenfork.tv

  • I am so doing this!! Thanks." Done is better then perfect" Love it!!

  • @loislaney23 take pictures and send them to me, want to see how it goes, eric.

  • @erochow I definitely will. It might be a little while. I have to get things rounded up. The only thing I have is the cement board. LOL Oh, I have the stuff to make the peel too. ( I loved the "driveway pizza" comment also. I am going to have to remember that one.

  • dang, that's slick.

  • very cool

  • @ThePohto yes, very cool and easy to do. thx, eric.

  • Awesome video - Thanks. I would have suggested pressure washing/cleaning the clay bricks since you don't really know where they came from and the fact that your pizza will be placed on it while cooking.

  • @gordonmedley we did clean the brick, should have mentioned that. thanks for pointing that out. eric

  • Now how about showing us how to bake bread in it?

  • @misstresst not sure this oven has enough mass to bake bread, but we'll try!

  • You two have more fun, I really like your videos and yes,,,,I have subscribed,,,,lol.

    From Harry in Amarillo, TX.

  • @TheTexasbuddy thanks harry!

  • "Done is better than perfect" well said

  • I really like you man! You are very passionate about everything you do! You are one of the realist people I have ever seen! Thanks for all your fun, informative, and entertaining videos!!!

  • That an amazing awesome informational video.. totally cool.. now I want pizza...

  • Those dogs are hilarious.

  • show us how to make the dread

  • Love this idea! Thanks for sharing....can't wait to try it!

  • that is great, i bet i works great with a dutch oven.

  • @ergenicplayer i will try the dutch oven, the issue is the mass of the oven ( mass holds heat ) is not great, so this oven is good for short high heat baking, will try it with breads, i'm working on an idea to add a door to the front of it. thanks for watching, eric.

  • That is really frugal, smart and creative. Love the videos.

  • @TheRonnette4 the only money spent was on the Durock board, which was $9, everything else is recycled!

  • wow.

  • @TheRonnette4 yes, it is a wow thing. fun.

  • cool

  • @allthingsawesome2 go build one!
