@rinarox33 If I understand it right, it's basically how much info can be stored on a computer chip. All digital information is stored in the form of 1s and 0s. An 8-bit chip can store information as any combination of 1s and 0s, 8 digits long. So for a music chip, if it's 8-bit, it can store up to 256 (2 to the 8th power) different sounds, that can be played in different combinations to form NES-style 8-bit music. A 16-bit chip on the other hand can store over 65,000 different sounds.
