About the Alcoholisme of Chief Manolito, well nobody is perfect. And I guess if one is in this situation, one would do the same. Anyway, I am Honored to see this video about sandpaintings. It's a beautiful powerful Art. There is no problem with by telling about it, but it may not be copied by non Dinéh or people who thinks they know about it. One may not steel anothers Culture. Peace. Little Sunshine
It's sad to see our people talk about their spirituality and then sell it. Twisting the truth just like University literature . Not a true Traditionalist. This is why Manulito became an Alcoholic upon his return from Ft. Sumner. Commercializing our sacredness has led to confusion amongst our younger generation. We hear leaders talk about the "young being our future". Our young and boarding school prodigies(parents/some grandparents) have no respect for the ceremonies and/or elders these days.
@321wyz i think it is giving back to your spiritual belief, for Navajos it would be giving back to the earth and sacred people to recognize blessings. All Native American artists have sold their art for income, how else would they have survived and supported their families it is common knowledge. All of our greatest leaders in history had their failures.. just to bring you back to reality
