I think this is important for the press health, thank you again.

  • Great video's, soup to nuts overview. Do you have any reloading sites you could rtecomend for product? Thanks

  • Superb videos. I have the same loader that I got with the purchase of a SW 357. Just getting set up to use it on .223/5.56 for my AR 15 and Mini 14. Very well put together videos. I learned a lot. Thank you

  • excellent ;)

  • very helpful and well done

  • Fantastic videos! very informative and just the info I was looking for!

  • Nice set of vids. thanks.

  • Thanks alot for this vid it was very helpful! I was looking at getting this same press. I'm thinking about getting in to reloading but I have a quick question for you. When you do rifle loads on this thing do you have to trim them or does the resizing step do that for you? I understand that the cases will strech sometimes and you have to trim them, Is that needed on this type of press? And when in the steps would you do that?

  • Very well done, thanks!!!

  • Very well done, thanks!!!

  • Thank you!!!!!

  • Glad it's still helpful!

  • I'd like to say thanks for taking the time to make these 5 videos. I was absolutely clueless, but now at least have a clue. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  • After a lot of debating over which press to buy, I bought the Dillon RL 550B this afternoon, and tonight I find your video. Thank you very much! This will be a big help.

  • Great videos! They are all extremely helpful! Thank you very much!

  • Thanks a lot! You're vids are very helpful. And you're a really good instructor. Keep making videos like these. :)

  • 1:30 into the GREAT video you made a decision to end the 1st batch. When you advanced the final bullet through station 3 & 4 what prevents 'power' from dropping?

  • @MsQuestor The powder drop mechanism will not operate unless a case is present in that station. The case itself presses upward on a plunger that causes the release of a measured amount of powder.

  • Very good videos, this is exactly what I needed to see. You were very thorough and descriptive with every step, thanks a lot!

  • great videos very usefull!

  • Thanks a bunch for going out of your way to help others out with their dillon.

  • Great video. I have a used Dillon 550B that I just started setting up and there were a couple of things that I could not figure out, and the Dillon user guides are pretty useless.

Now I'm ready to continue with the setup.

  • Very thorough exactly what I was looking for.

  • Great vid!

I wish there was info on the 650 and 1050 as well!

  • Never done reloading, thinking about getting a set up and was not sure between going single stage or progressive. Still don't know which way I'm gonna go but I'm leaning towards the progressive. Thanks for taking the time to make this video, very informative and very well done. :-)

  • I was struggling setting it up from the instructions, this really helped. Thanks

  • Just watched this set of videos. Outstanding job. Makes me want to get a setup someday.

  • Big help, thanks for putting this out there! I bought a 550B used from a buddy and this was a great cross-reference to Dillon's manual for the 550...which can be a little confusing. Thanks again!

  • Great set of videos man. Very well done. Great camera work, narration, and pacing. Seems professionally done.

  • Thanks for making these videos, Ive been loading for 20 years or so and quit about 5 years ago I use an RL 550 and your video pointed out a few things that I had forgotten about that was specific about the press.

  • Thanks for taking the time to make such an informative series of videos. Watching the process is extremely helpful.

  • Thank you thank you thank you. Excellent instruction on reloading from beginning to end. My interest in reloding for myself is getting the better of me and will be investing in the Dillon 550.

  • awesome series, your vids helped me a lot!! thanks!!

  • Excellent tutorial! I have been loading several pistol calibers for years with a Dillon Square Deal progressive press. The operation is exactly the same as with the 550B except that the shall carrier automatically indexes when the handle is pulled. I probably will be buying a 550B so that I can load rifle calibers, and you helped me make the decision to buy one. I will be referring my new-to-reloading friends to your tutorial. Thanks!

  • Outstanding, I plan to use the R 550b for reloading and I am sold now. Please do vids on rifle bullets has I will be reload/loading my own 223 shells

  • Great Video. Very informative, helped understand the process of reloading better.

  • GREAT!!! Will you soon do one using 650? I am New to this! Use rcbs 45acp dies. Do I need allen wrench for these? Your videos are the BEST ive seen!!!! PLEASE do one for 650!!!

  • Outstanding video series. Dillon should burn this onto a CD, ship it with their RL 550B and pay you royalties! Seriously, thank you for taking the time to make this, it is very informative and helpful to those of us that are just getting into reloading.

  • @girvin02 Yup.

  • GREAT series of vids on how to reload with the Dillon RL550B. From putting together the press all the way thru checking your hand loaded rounds at the end of loading them. Very helpful. thank you!

  • I really enjoyed watching this video. I t made my book readings come to life. Thanks.

  • Thank you, this is an excellent video.

  • Thank you for the information!!! Very helpful.

  • YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!

KEEP ON ROCKING THESE AWESOME VIDEOS!

thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • outstanding tutorial. Just steered a bunch of folks to it.

  • Excellent tutorial! I'll be looking for the rifle cartridge vid. I'm in the same situation. I have no mentor, so I appreciate the help.

    Regards Mister 9mm.

  • Great video thank you very much sir!

  • I've been reloading 45acp, plus 38special, and 45colt on the 550b for about 5 years now, and had fun watching the video. The only real pain with this press, is going back and forth from large to small primers. Couldn't have done it better myself! Great hands on experience!

    Thank you!

  • Thank you for the vids! Great for a person like myself wanting to learn how to reload.

  • excellent videos! showed everything from start to finish! strange tho.....moved hands and arms when talking and have a pinky ring! hmmm..made man? lol

  • thanks so much...I'm cleaning 9mm cases and ready to run about 500 of 'em this weekend on VV320/115gr FMJs :-)

  • Thank you for sharing your talents and time....As a fellow series maker I appreciate the effort!

  • where is the best place to buy one of these, directly from dillon? or is there a cheaper source out there, good video too i dont feel quite as lost as i did

  • Thanks, very well presented series, very informative with all the appropriate safety precautions to use while reloading.

  • outstanding series! 5 ++

  • very good video to see if you have the 550b, i learn allot tonight

  • what happens to the powder when you take the bad ones apart?

  • You dump it back in the jug to use again later.

  • Great video. I learned a lot. I am sure I will have more questions once my press gets here. Thanks

  • Fantastic, a big help

  • Well done!

  • thanks for taking the time. great help.

  • awsome vid

  • Awesome videos! I`m just about to start reloading now, and this helped out a lot! Thnx!

  • Splendid! Thank you for producing a very well done video series that supplements the manual very well. Bravo!

  • Never saw reloading done. This took the mystery out of it and made me look forward to getting my 550 and getting to work. Outstanding!

  • I have inherited a dilon press and this video is invalubale to me/thank you

  • Thanks for the videos. It really made it clear to me what in involved in reloading.

  • very well put together videos, thanks again

  • how do you check your ammo and could i check for high primers

  • Outstanding! I am ready to get back into reloading and progressive looks like the way to go for me now. I never knew what I was missing with my old LEE press. Thanks for the video!

  • rl 550 is ok for shooting 50-100 rounds per week, or less. dillon 1050 looks amazingly easy and way more automatic than the 550. i'll buy the 1050 for sure! great video though!! the best i've seen so far! thank you!

  • It is not a dense comment. Many people choose to de-cap their brass before cleaning (tumbling). I have bags olf de-capped and cleaned brass. It is very possible to mistakenly use one of these casings to set up the 550, and if you don't have a used or new primer in the casing, then the powder will obviously fall out, I did not see any mention of this in the video.

  • I didn't say it wasn't dense to decap separately (although search around for good reasons not to tumble unprimed brass). I said its dense if you have to mention that a primer has to be in the case in order to drop powder into it. Again, if you can't figure out powder's going right through the case if there's no primer, you should not be reloading.

  • Kuidos! Mahalo nui loa from a shooter in Hawaii about to embark on reloading.

  • Hey, thanks I bought a 550 but haven't used it yet. This was very helpful.

  • Thanks for this effort - nice job. Would have been a bit better to have more light in around the shell plate. Think you made a small mistake testing the powder weight.. you did not mention using a casing with a primer in it.. otherwise, your powder will fall out the bottom! Also, although you mentioned the tumbler, you did not show anything about cleaning your brass and removing the old primers. Maybe a small video on that aspect of reloading? .

  • If you're that dense to not think about that before you start, you shouldn't be reloading.

  • Thank you for taking the time to do the presentation. It's very informative and you did a good job.

  • Excelent presentation! Dillon guys should give you money back for that 550B.

Question: the 550 is not coming with a case feeder? I mean was easier to add just the bullet and not the brass too.

  • Great vid, Thanks.

  • Thanks for the helpful vid, takes the worry i had about how to get started.

  • Very professional. Have had the 550B for years now. Wish I had a video series like this one at the beginning!

  • Awesome video. Makes me feel a lot better about getting into reloading.

  • Now THIS video series is a perfect example why YouTube is essential.

Fine work, my friend. Grade A job, and 5 stars (from Texas)!

  • Great series. Helped me out tremendously. THANK YOU!

  • I really appreciate the effort that you put into your videos. Your information will make my first attempt at reloading much easier.

    Thanks Again!!

  • Thanks a lot, for all these info. This is one classy video. Now I'm all set to start reloading.

  • Thanks for the helpfull info, takes some of the worry i had about how to get started.

    Cheers.

  • great video, you answered all of my questions!!!

  • Outstanding video series, it really helped me decide how and what to buy into...

  • Excellent videos on the dillon. I enjoyed your demo.

  • Hi,,

Can you possibly tell me where you got your case gauge? I'm having a hell of a time trying to fine one like you have for 45 cal.

These are great videos, I litterally just bought this same press last week and the guy told me to come watch these to get going. Awesome! Thanks

    Brett

  • Well done. Took me out of the dark, I had no idea how the reloading process worked. Answered a lot of questions, thanks.

  • Dude,,where were you when I was reinventing the wheeel with this stuff. WELL DONE!

  • Very well done. Thank you for putting together such a great set of instructional videos. Editing was fantastic.

  • Thanks for the Video. I have been reloading for more than 20 years and was looking for something progressive. You sold me on this one. I'll order one today and thanks to you a breeze to setup.

  • brah great video, much appreciated

  • Thanks a ton for posting this series! I purchased this same Dillon RL550B just today. I have never done reloading before and this entire video series has been excellent!

Your explanations as to why you do things a certain way is really helpful. I almost feel like I should send you some money or something!

  • Thank you for this series of vid's. I am torn between 550b and 650xl. The guy at the shop prefers 550 if you wish to reload rifle and pistol rounds and 650 for pistol rounds. Theirs are set up with case and bullet accessories. I must reload after seeing this. The only con I forsee is saving the brass at an indoor range and some 308 Rifles seem to be hard on cases. I wonder if some range would let people use there chrono. The whole reason I want to do this is to reload .45 acp 185 gr semi wad

  • Nice job. An instructor once said that a shooter should talk to himself to avoid being lazy at the range. Same for the reloading bench.

  • thank you for posting this .

  • Hay great videos. Is the proces about the same on all reloaders?

  • awesome videos!

  • excellent videos..

  • Excellent Video, Very well done, I will really look into purchasing a Dillon for reloading....Thanx for your time and effort.

  • Thanks so much! I'm just starting out with handguns and shooting in general, and I had heard about reloading but didn't have a clue about it. Your videos were great!

  • jamz....Hey, thanks for the video. I just bought a 550B. What are the locator buttons for? I saw you put them in and out?? Also, I never saw you unhook the powder rod while you took a single round all the way through. Why didn't the powder measure just keep dropping about 3 loads of powder?

  • Thanks for taking the time for making these videos. I've been wanting to start reloading but didn't know where to start. At least now I can start buying each piece of equipment as I can afford it.

  • Excellent job. Dillon would do well to buy your video and ship it with each machine. The Dillon video is OK, but yours is waaaay better.

  • Thanks bud really appreciate it i wasnt sure if i wanted to get into loading ammo but now i do. i want to load my .223 rounds. what loader do you suggest ?

  • Wow, this instructional video on ammo reloading is excellent! Thanks

  • thank you so much this is awsome exactly what I needed to learn.

  • Awesome videos sequence. I dont have a reloader yet but after watching these videos I think its time i get one! Thanks alot!

  • thanks a bunch!

  • Thanks for the info. Excellent videos.

  • thanks for this excelent five videos! awesome!!

  • fantastic video's! thankyou so much.

    Happy Shooting..

  • Ah, my pet peeve, the flexing work bench. I hate when things that aren't supposed to move...do. I see you have it secured to the wall, just need to make the top more stout. I made mine out of doubled up 3/4 inch hardwood ply.

  • i don't no jack about reloading but after your 5 video it more clear how to set the full thing , realy good video and clear to

    thks

  • Do you use any lube when sizing straight walled pistol brass? Other than that question I feel ready to go with my 550 after these vids, THANK YOU!

  • Just finished all 5. You did a great job and made it easy to understand. Makes me feel more confident about starting to reload my own.

    5 of 5

  • is there a license requirements to reload bullets?

  • Not to reload per se, but there are a small handful of states that require some kind of permit to purchase/possess cases, bullets, powder and the like. Most normal states don't though.

  • Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I'm just getting back into shooting and can't believe how much ammo has gone up. I was apprehensive about reloading but after watching your vids I'm looking foward to it now...Know anyone selling a good Dillon 550...lol

  • great job you make it to look easy

  • Great series of videos 5*'s

A video on rifle reloading would be great.

  • Fabulous Five stars all the way. Best series out of all I've seen so far. Can't thank you enough.

  • thank you so much for taking the time to do this. after watching your video's i know this is somthing i can do. by the way you might think about releasing theese as a how to video series your quit good at it.

  • Thanks,

Your videos were very informative. I will have to get a press and start reloading soon.

  • Thanks for the great info. I was thinking of getting into reloading and after your video you answered alot of my questions. Thanks again

  • I just watched all 5 of these, great job.

When will we see a series on rifles?

  • Thanks, nice series! I enjoyed learning how a progressive press works. - Jody

  • Very nice video!! Your editing and narative skills really help the video move along w/o a hitch! Cant believe it's been over 45 mins!! I think that's the sign of a great vid or movie, etc. when once it's over it seems like only a short period of time has elapsed! Once again, great job! Mick

  • Hi, this video is nice and easy to understand, I will be looking at it if I have to take my 550b apart, thanx!

If I had to complain about something, it's your work bench :P The press is flexing. This can give uneven loads. I would recomend Dillon's Strong Mount, it gives the press a bigger "footprint" for more stability.

I use the Strong Mount on a bench plate made of 2 laminated 22mm plates, 1mm asphalt plate and 1mm steel top-plate, all on a 2x4" frame, linked to the basement wall :)

  • Yeah, I've since reinforced it with a leg right under the press, the flex is gone now. :)

  • I sort of guessed you would, you sound serious enough :)

Now, can you please stop the war so I can get hold of some N320 and Federal small rifle primers :D

You have to make a new video like this when I get hold of a cheap used Super 1050 ;)

  • great video. thanks!

  • THANKYOU!!!! Very helpfull

  • Dillon should send you some kickbacks! Thanks to your video I have decided to by a Dillon 550B. You videos have simplified the reloading process for a noob like myself. Thanks!

  • how many times do you recommend using your brass over and over

  • For pistol, unless you are loading very high power stuff, I'd load it right till it falls apart in the die. I don't count the times I load pistol cases, I just load them till they stop loading properly.

Rifle is another matter (as is higher powered pistol loads, 454 casul, 500s&w, etc.) Those I limit to maybe 4-5 loadings, depending on the case.
