I am an israeli jew and i was born in israel but my father was born in russia and fled from there to israel in 1926 after serving 9 years in the red army. my grand father lost a hand in the russian japanies war there on the hilles of manchu'ria'  my father was weeping when he heard this beautifull song in it's lyrices and muzike and so am I. my grand children mostly the grand duaghters love the song very much.

This song was written in 1905,during Russia's war with Japan. It is dedicated to the perished Russian soldiers gave their lives for the Motherland . Military action took place in a deserted area,away from Russia,where then were buried by Russian soldiers. The text of the song : night came on earth dusk fell . In the darkness have not seen the sand dunes , black clouds covered the sky.

@Tanechka80 Ваше определение "опера - это опера" я понимаю. До "большого" певца пожалуй ещё килограмм 70 надо. Например Паваротти был о-очень большим певцом. Так как приходилось петь в опере могу сказать о преимуществах. Офицерам не нужно петь громко;P хотя голос имеют;)
