  • Great job Tom! Please reissue a new version of the OBX-a.

  • great...!! we love you Tom!! you're a real toolmaker and not these ugly digital synths or whoerever they are! a big hug from Spain!!

  • Now we just need to get Tom Oberheim to ask Roger Linn to re release the LM-2 :)

  • Dear God, more Tom Oberheims please.. Thank you!

  • 6,666 viewer, YAY!

  • Mitchell could smile a bit more. He looks suspicious at Tom. ;-P

  • My JP 8000 will be sold... the SEM will be bought!

  • If Alan R. Pearlman reads this: Please, make it like Tom and bring out the original ARP 2600 again!

  • Who sells these in Europe?

    Can't find anything.

    Who distributes Oberheim in Europe?

  • @Geeljasjes tomoberheim (dot) com clearly has a list of international distributors.

  • Great interview. I always enjoy listening to the builders. Kudos for taking up the history and discussing the competition. The patch-bay is a welcome addition, I might just find a home for this little beauty in the near future.

  • does anybody know where to find a oberheim perf/x Strummer video ?

  • i will be getting one,BUT I DREAM OF BEING ABLE TO BUY A BRAND NEW ''MATRIX 12''.THAT WOULD BE A AWESOME!

  • Yeah, I can't wait to see part 2. Where is it? Has it not come out yet, or am I looking in the wrong spot?

LOVE the video. Can't wait to get an SEM!!

  • Liked the video. Can't wait to see part two. I got a MIDI version on order and can't wait for them to ship. I wonder if Tom will reissue the programmer for these babys.

  • i just got mine on friday. this thing sounds like no other. audiomidi rules.. i am glad i work with those nerds....

  • but cool to see this.. I'm just anxious to actually hear one

  • this is the biggest tease I mean damn we want some demos by now...

  • SynthOp? Write for it? Heck, I'd start it :>)

We've actually been talking about doing more interviews with the "legends of synthesis". The main complication is that the whole "coffee meet crew" that Tom refers to (Dave Smith, Roger Linn, Buchla, etc.) are all in the Bay Area, and we're in LA, but we may still do it.

  • Where is part 2 ???

  • THANK YOU Mr Oberheim for bringing the SEM back !!! And thanks a lot Roger Linn for convincing T.O to do it !

    This is great news !!!

  • Great stuff. I hope you can do more interviews like this. Roger Linn would be a great one too. As would Dave Smith and maybe even some of the rank and file engineers or techs. Kind of like TapeOp but SynthOp!

    Cheers, Grant B. in OC

  • SynthOp - what a great idea!

  • I mentioned it to Larry Crane too. I think Mitchell should write a few articles for them.

  • Tom Oberheim is responsible for some of the best sounding synthesizers ever made, IMO. Still my favorite of all the well known synth manufacturers.
