@schunful Those extra things are just the style... You don't actually need to play those it depends on you, for some people it sounds kind of off and empty so they just do the similar thing he does in the video.

i was a guitar player first; then bass player and still am 5 string fender jazz bass who plays gospel music at church; when you play anything you have to play with feelings and whatever spiritual sense you feel inside not play the same way every single time like a robot or playing note for note....you have to feel the song and praise God thru your music !! not all guitar players who play bass play like a robot !!
