  • This songs gaves it later in Germany, But they singing in german about a dying child.

  • This song became our school leaving assembly final number, from 1982 to today every class to leave sings this number before the school closes, although i think some words were changed i didnt realise till lately that it was an actual released song :)

  • My favourite of all Neil's songs, it's beautiful. Thank you so much for posting it. The printed lyrics aren't really necessary as his diction is so clear but thanks for them too. (I think he sings 'moons and Junes' not 'jewels' but what odds, it's lovely.) The info about the break-up of a song writing partnership was interesting too.

  • @lewistair1 The song is not about breaking up with a lover. Sedaka had been in a long-running, exclusive song-writing partnership with Howard Greenfield and they decided to part ways. The song is about their "break-up". The song contains many references to songs that they wrote together eg. "Silly rhymes and monkeyshines" is about 'I Go Ape', and, "Now we know that breaking up is really hard to do" is about 'Breaking Up Is Hard To Do'.

  • My oh my this is brilliant ... thank you ... heart wrenching ...
