you bass drum sounds like it was edited! like some kind of electric club bass sound. its so cool! is that how it actually sounds or is it just the camera. and you are a great player, keep it up
Cool Solo AND Nice Drumroll!I'm glad you are all doing this for me!Even the toms are nice! I hope you put up a long tom tom roll as well! Long Live Premier!Brainy,Brainman Media
Have the same set & also a DW mini-pro. I play more with the Premier & love the sound. The bass feels akward though, being that its skinny, its a longer reach to the pedal. Probably sell the DW, had ordered a cocktail kit.
1:23 nice shuffle beat on the kick with the 2's and 4's accented with hat pedal, just work on your rolls on the hat and the angle your stick meet the edge to get that jizzalicious clean cut crisp sound.
if you cant find one its probably because theyre mainly marketed in europe, and in europe mainly britain (although it is a common myth that theyre made there nowadays)
duude ive been wondering abt small bass depths for a while, how do you like it that short? i heard its alot easier to play in like response nd speed, can you clarify?
im gonna get a custom kit probly SJC nd i rlly wanted to get a huge size like a 24x26 pretty much just for looks but do you think huge sizes affect playability?
Well im not him,but ill try to clear some stuff up for you lol,if you want a huge kick drum like that you cant do alot of fast strokes because itd just sound like one huge echo, but the bigger the kick drum the more powerful it will sound, like for instance a 18in.longx20in.round is used for punk because of its speedy sound but it doesnt give the best low end,but a big bass drum is mostly used for stuff like big band/jazz/some forms of techno because you need that massive low end hope that helps
actually most jazz, especially now a days usually use pretty small bass drums. People only associate big basses with jazz because when most big band drummers in the hey day of big band only had big bass drums because they were actually converted concert basses.
Most jazz post 50's use smaller bass drums such as the gretcsh catalina club for example. Generally tuned pretty tight. Search "Ari Hoenig Invitation" thats a good example. It was recorded live at Smalls in NYC. One of the best today.
Oh, wow, i need to know my history a bit lol, im not a drummer, ive just taken advice from them with what they know, so know you cleared some up for me too, Thanks mate
Honestly, the size of the bass drum really depends on what sound you like and how hard you play. I like the 22x22 or 22x20 because I play super hard and can move that much air so it doesn't sound like a huge "thud". 24x18 is a great size too, but 24x26 is a little over the top unless you're micing your kit ALL THE TIME. Before ordering a kit go out and play some different sized kicks cause then you'll know what you like and dislike...and remember it's all up to your likes...
i used to have the same kit, kicking myself that i sold it! although i wish it had a 20x14 bass drum, its the only thing i would fault about it, the snare was simply beautiful, think i may invest again
@dwjames I've been playing since 1959 myself, a little longer than I sometime like to admit. Have you taken lessens? I'm not trying to be a wise-guy; what I'm getting at is that you have a free and easy demeanor sitting behind that kit that can't be learned, a naturel feel that's beautiful to watch. Don't ever stop playing.
Two hi-hats??? ive seen two snares, two bass drums, two floor toms, but two hi-hats ive never seen before, but i shant dare say a word against it, your a great drummer, but unfortuantly this quality and style of playing is slowly fading out.
@80XY 2 hi hats is great actually, lots of people are doing now that they are fining it a more efficiant way of getting a closed hi hat sound while playing double bass. but thats just a mirror.
Your ride is fucking perfect. And the almost breakbeatish beat around 2:45 is beautiful. The world needs more drummers like you and less drummers who want to be joey jordison.
I have to say that is awsome that you decided to play a steady groove that sounds great instead of just playing as fast as you can like most people. Thanks.

That's not a Cabria, it's an Artist Series. Great line of drums, the best of the semi-pro kits.

lol. it's an inside joke.
Basically, we got the kit for a Cabria shell price. Thus
