The three minutes of space at the beginning of the The Motion Picture is the Overture and it's something they used to do with roadshow movies. The DVDs of the big epic movies that were made and released through to the 70s like Lawrence of Arabia and 2001: A Space Odyssey all preserve these overtures.

Agree about Montalbain's chest. Glad to hear some positive views about the first film: it does have some positives.  2nd film seems a bit too faced paced: it always seemed to be about only 70 minutes long to me. Also for all its entertainment, it does look like TV at times. Good luck with future videos.
