If you accidentally fall down into the water in the beginning you can only raise the last two pillars. You are then stuck down below to rot forever.

Hi RocinanteSWS!

Use the grapple on the white object with the Omega symbol that the scarabs have their jaws around and pull it out to reset that pillar. Now you can use it to climb all the way back up if you need to and activate the other pillars first :-)
