  • how do you transfer?

  • 1000pts

  • Leuke film :)

  • epic. seriously.

  • Garage Band ;)

  • I Love this... Thanks for sharing the world, with the world! :-)

  • beautiful shots nice camera!

  • Really good stuff here. They go on so much about hd these days but this is the original and best hd well done.

  • groovy

  • ziet er goed uit!

  • Great video, wonderful nation, great music and cute girl ;)

  • this is really making me want to buy an old film camcorder.

  • @2fakee

    yes same here.

I have a super8 but I want a 16mm so bad. I think ill have to get a H16. Get some documentary footage on it.

  • You should upload these again in HD.

  • That's very cool, man. Did you do this for a production company or on your own time? I'd like to get into film, but motion film stock seems very hard to come by these days, and I've no idea where to have it developed, etc.

  • awesome. very crisp and clear.

  • gorgeous!

  • Very beautiful!

  • Very nice.

  • Truly beautiful. I love your work and ability to show how great 16mm can look.

  • Great work, what's the name of the music on this film.

  • Yes, I'd like to know also.

    Great vid, Pim.

    Thanks.

  • The music is an original composition made on garage band, an Ilife program on apple.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Really nice film, found it by chance while looking for some Arriflex footage.

  • ummm.... This was amazing.. hmmm.... wow.

  • were the editinig and effects ( flares/seapage) were digital vs manual.

  • Wow! Look at that gamut.

  • wow film!!! so beautifull..

    mooie shots! zeer sfeervol..

  • man this is sooo good!

  • Wow... that was... great. I'm speechless...

  • how much was the transfer?

  • about $ 700 for a half hour rough material

  • @pimhawinkels $700 is way to much. i transfer 30minute 16mm for half that price into HD

  • Looks great, just like all your videos. Not sure if you've gotten a chance, but check out my short "The Longing" also used a bolex but shot with 7231 b/w.

  • Was the transfer supervised or was it just a standard best-light transfer? Thank you.

  • no i supervised it

  • Beautiful! Thank you for posting. :)

  • looks great

  • this is amazing!

  • vision 2 50d is incredible. I have a really nice 16mm movie camera in my attic somewhere and another I found at a flea market too. I am waiting till the money is good to try it out. What do you think of the 50d?

  • Mooi deze film, om helemaal te kijken

  • Beautiful work Pimhawinkels!

One question...How were you able to obtain such a narrow depth of field in some shots (like the one with the rope from the boat). Was this achieved solely with your prime lenses or did you have to adjust your F-stop for the DoF shots?

I was told that you couldn't acheive this type of DoF with 16mm. You've been able to acheive a narrow focus similar to what poeple are getting with the 35mm adaptors for video. This is better though...It's film!!

  • no i just used th eprime lenses, they are kern lenses, with maximum aperture of 1.4 and 1.1 i believe... also wen using the 10mm, peope are not used to widangle shots with very narrow dof.... so thats why u probably noticed it...

    thanx, pim

  • Hello pimhawinkels. Compliments for your beautiful footage, is astonishing. Just beautiful. My technical question though is if you had some color correction at the lab or you colour corrected or is you, a nice camera and a good load of film. Thanks a lot for posting, is really something.

  • very nice... good job...

  • wondermooi

  • heel mooie gedaan.

  • net een bioscoop film

    waneer deel 2

  • tolie

  • Een van de mooiste impressies over Suriname! We want more Pim! gr Miguel

  • what stocks did you shoot with? Did you correct color in telecine?

  • Can you tell us about your Bolex and lens?

  • i put it in the clip description above

    thanx, pim

  • Great Job way to go my friend This Clip deserves its 5 star....Looking forward to your next production.

  • Beautiful. Are you a D.O.P. professionally these images are really stunning. I'm a film student just learning how to use 16mm on the bolex.

  • My man!!! your stuff looks always great , thanks for teh clip, it is a great example for something I want to do later on next year!!!

    Best

  • what lenses are used?

  • kern 10mm, 25mm, 50mm

  • Your work is really amazing.FILM. FILM, FILM it just touches the soul.

    Toby

  • I love 16mm

  • I love the artistic approach in this vid. I somehow feel that the music is out of place though but that's just a minor detail.

    De groeten. :)

  • really nice. What stock did you use?

  • all shot on kodak 50 daylight, dont know the code... the black and white is some old plus x from the 80's, but not scanned as good as the color material

  • this looks great, just curious what stock you shot it on

  • the film looks so much nicer than video.

  • When was this video taken?

    I love it.

  • really nicely done, i don't believe this quality can actually be achieved from one of the old Bolex H16s, where did you get it developed? I can't seem to find any labs which will deal with short runs for amateurs.

  • if u use a good lens, and have it scanned and developed properly , i wouldn't know why it shouldn't be as good as a modern camera. it was developed and scanned at cineco in amsterdam.

  • Hey very nicely shot keep'm coming!

  • have a look at some other short clips i added , on youtube/pimhawinkels

    thanx

  • Brilliant!!!! what film stock have you used? is your bolex converted to super 16mm?

  • Really lovely. What film stock was used?

  • what kind of bolex was this footage shot on?

  • i sho it on the bolex h16, the old one with spring, but with reflex finder

  • i'm from suriname myself, and this is a great video. love it. nice job.

  • what lense did you use on the close up? 75mm? andur wide shots are what 25mm?

  • most shots are shot with the 10 mm kern lens, the rest with a 25 mm, also kern... the 100 can focus up to 10cm i believe, and when you screw it loose, even closer...

    pim

  • very impressive! is your bolex modified for super16? the frame looks wider then usual. I didn't think the 10mm worked with the super16 mod. any tips!?

  • no its 16, i letterboxed it later on....

  • swept away

  • Well done!
