Beautiful horse! But it kind of worries me on what they did to keep his head that low for the pleasure. I've heard horrifying stories about painful bits. But of course I don't know what they did for him.
nice stud, but I'd take points off for the rider being on his face so much, even if it was a training class. The point of pleasure is self carriage and softness of both horse and rider.
yes very true but the rider is useing pressure and realease rather than a constant contact on his mouth to get him to pick up and stop leaning on the bit. I would guess whover usually rides this horse keeps a constant nagging contact on his mouth so he just leans on the bit.
@bexlerartois1 Yeah probably. And some green horses can tend to just need reminding. I'm also so used to quarterhorse classes where short reins aren't part of it. I guess in arab classes they are accepted?
I dont get why all you people have to yank your horses heads down. Sure, get collected. Theres nothing wrong with that. But to possibly pop out and permanently damage their neck vertebrae, cut off airways, and emotionally scar your horses just doesnt seem worth it to me. And Im no tree hugger, just an advocate of what everyone but you thinks. Im a western rider, but appropriately. Thanks (:
mrskipanttitude: They don't actually hit the horses with it, I am pretty sure it is just for show, and to get their attention. My Arab mare's attention tends to drift, so I can see where this comes in. I think 0_o
yepp. you can show geldings in halter.. usually the classes arent as big but you can still.. I show 2 geldings both arabs. Halter gets pretty easy to do you just have to work with the horse lots and lots..
