  • Well done!!

  • @mattojorojo Thank you very much!

  • Quite nice!!!

  • @MZVIRB Thank you kindly!

  • I think you did a superb job on this video, Well Done!

  • Superb Video!

  • @Boots59100 Thank you! Looking back, I wish I'd added more action to it since it's really just various ships flying by the camera (essentially just a series of beauty shots); but people seem to like it so I can't really complain. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Wow, this is interesting. Lost in Space's Jupiter 2 and Klaatu at the same time. Be still, my beating heart! Why didn't you go the full length with it?

  • @SciFiBMovieGuy Not sure what you mean by "full length," but I'll answer as best I can. The song is full length as it appears on the "Due South Soundtrack: Volume One." If you're asking why the video didn't feature the Jupiter 2 alone, there are two reasons: First, I wanted to include as many ships as possible because they're all "interplanetary craft." Second, at the time I only had a few shots of the J2 and the one I used worked well for the intro. I hope this helped. Thanks for writing!

  • @buckaroohawk When I mentioned "full-length," I was talking about the whole seven minutes and some-odd seconds of the original version of "Calling Occupants." The version you're using is abbreviated, although your work is still very good. As far as the Jupiter 2, I wasn't complaining about it not being shown enough. I was just happy to see the that particular craft in your video, since I'm passionate about "Lost in Space" AND "Calling Occupants." Keep up the good work!

  • @SciFiBMovieGuy I wasn't aware that a seven minute version of the song existed. When I made this video, I don't think I had enough clips to fill up a song of that length! ;-)

I wish I'd used the Jupiter 2 model more often. It's really nice looking and the interior adds a lot of realism. Perhaps I'll feature it again, but not in a music video. I've gotten too much flack from music companies about using music without permission that it's not worth my time anymore. Glad you enjoyed the video!

  • @buckaroohawk When you can, look for the full-length version online and check it out. It's off Klaatu's first album, called "3:47 EST, " or simply "Klaatu," as most of us know it. I remember when Klaatu came out with that album, and a rumor started that they were really The Beatles recording under a different name. Interesting times.

  • I hope December 21st, 2012 is all about something like this, not the world's destruction. The pyramids are still standing.

  • CLASSIC!!!

  • If you're taking requests, how about ships from 2001: A Space Odyssey, "The Discovery", The Orion", "The Pan-American Shuttle" to name a few. Great job !!!

  • @JEMMALAH Glad you enjoyed it. I haven't found any nice CGI models of the ships from 2001, nor have I had time to build them myself. If I ever do, though, rest assured they'll appear in one of my videos. Thanks for taking the time to write!

  • wow realy amazing, liked the eagles from space 1999 at 2:18

  • @ajom010k I get a lot of comments about the Eagle Transports in this video. I think people miss them because "Space: 1999" hasn't been remade / reinvented / reimagined / re-whatever yet. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for writing!

  • you should have put a pleiadian beamship in there.

  • Change Find... (thx for posting =)

  • Slightly Better than Carpenter's Remake

  • Your powers of observation are astonishing! You should be a detective or something. Don't let that keen perception of yours go to waste.

  • Lmao, witty witty :D.

  • i agree with buckaroo,

    you are a genius!

we should all make you ruler of earth!

    NAY! the Universe!

  • very cool ^^ saved the best for last. always loved that fly by camera angel and still imitate it with my replicas ^^

  • PEACE!

  • 1st class work!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS...

  • Nice work. More please.

  • when i hear thise i think in the alien in the Roswell film i cried when that alien died coz it was freindly the way i want aliens to be

  • So many classic ships... Have you thought about modeling the Cowboy Beepop?

  • I'm not a big fan of anime. I tend to stick to live action sci-fi as source material. Still...some of the designs are cool...

  • Awesome work 5* :-)Oo...

  • The original song "Calling Occupants of the Interplanetary Craft" by The Carpenters came out in 1977 and was a big hit since it coincided with the hoopla over Steven Spielberg's CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND.

  • Actually, according to a number of Klaatu fans above, they recorded the song first, and The Carpenters covered it sometime later. Either way, it's a cool song. Thanks for writing.

  • Buckaroohawk wrote, "according to... Klaatu fans, they recorded the song first"

Correction: Klaatu fans did not initially record this song, it was actually Klaatu that did.

  • Correction Correction: My grammar is NOT in error in the quote above. The word "they" correctly infers the group Klaatu, not the phrase "Klaatu fans."

Don't mess with me, man. I have a Master of Arts in English. Don't make me start diagramming sentences on you! ;-)

  • The original is by Klaatu. The Carpenter version stinks

  • no way the Carpenters Version way better this one.

  • love this beautiful and creative vid. thanx

  • Heey its the Jupiter 2 and Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica CG models!!!

  • Great video i loved it!

  • that's great i really liked watching this :) i modeled a star trek deck original version too, i had minor adjustments to do to make it usable in daz studio - i'll use it as the main room of the castle-ship of the villain, Lord Foefum :)

  • lol the blew up that star wars ship

  • I love Yoko and Klaatu!

  • the 3d models are good...

i think you should not use so many different transition effects between the scenes...

    ...good job...

  • I did go a little crazy with the transitions, but I having such fun playing with them. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for writing!

  • can anyone out there please post some new klaatu tracks if they have them -love this one but in need of some others-please xx

  • happy birthday to boz and sandy

sorry to take this space for b'day message, but this song is an inside joke to me and my bro. It is a great song, thought.!!!

    Peace!

  • No problem, flan! Fans of Klaatu took over these comments a long time ago and I'm happy to have them hang out here. I'm glad everyone's enjoying the video and the song. Thanks for writing, and Happy Birthday Boz and Sandy!

  • I remember when this song came out, everyone said it was The Beatles back together! Then I found out it was three guys from Canada!!Great song!Great band!I wish they would get togther and make a new album!!

  • Yes, Klaatu rocks! Been a fan since '77. Sir Army Suit is my 2nd favorite Klaatu album.

Love your video too. - Dave

  • Thanks, Dave! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • used to own one of Klaatu's albums. the one with Knee Deep In Love on it. only album i ever found by them. loved it. though i had heard the Carpenters version of this song years ago, and knew this was a Klaatu song, because of statements made by Richard Carpenter, this is the first time i've ever heard Klaatu's version of the song. i was not disappointed. thx so much for posting. 5 stars and its going straight into faves. peace :)

  • Thanks, Kohl93! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for writing!

  • If john is viewing this-thanks for the klaatu album -its really good-and have a good xmas -missed you at work-take care-from another klaatu fan.

  • Do think they sound like elo too-and maybe 10cc a bit-but i just wonder why they seem to have liverpudlian accents on some of their tracks.

  • At the time there was a rumour going around that they were the Beatles, might have been the record companies publicity department or the Liverpudlian accents.

  • Thanks buck, you've cleared up that gap in my memory. Klaatu is best.

  • No sweat. Thanks for writing!

  • Was it the carpenters or was it the Captain and Tineil, I am soooo sure it was the latter.

  • Nope, it was The Carpenters. There's a viseo of their performance here on Youtube somewhere. It should be in the "Related Videos" column when you watch mine.

  • Wasn't sure my own self, had to go find it. Was "The Carpenters" Karen's version is pretty, but for me it can't compare to the original

  • I discovered Klaatu in '76 in Canada . My Brother in law was an engineer on the album. Great memories. Thanks for posting.

  • Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for writing!

  • Just discovered Klaatu. Good stuff, thanks.

  • Glad to be of service. Thanks for writing!

  • buckaroohawk...after a month of going back to this version...you are correct! I think I like this version as a whole, better than the Carpenters'...although I have to admit I love Karen's voice...this version reminds me of Supertramp for some reason!

  • I think Supertramp would have done a great version of this song. It would have been a great companion piece to "Take the Long Way Home." Thanks for writing!

  • Great video to a great song! I love the Space:1999 Eagles!

    Thanks!

  • Thanks, adent9! Glad you liked it. Thanks for writing!

  • I think the carpenters version is better but this one is good too

  • I don't know about that.

The Carpenters version is great, but it's not at all as good as the original, even though Klaatu said The Carpenter's version was better. But that's just my opinion.

    klaatuX:

SunSet's a brilliant collection! I'm having a project about Klaatu right now, and I've added that if I should recommend anything It would've been SunSet, pretty much the ultimate collection.

  • Anyone interested in Klaatu should check out Sun Set: 1973-1981 Its there complete remastered works!

  • Great stuff, thanks for doing what I've always wanted to do, (make a Klaatu video, as there are far too few) but have been too lazy, lol. They were signed sight unseen, and with the proviso that they wouldn't tour.. That might have contributed to the mystery, that a major record company would agree to that..

  • That sort of thing is a sign of those times, before the music industry was ruled by video and mega-corporations. Can you imagine a group not touring, or doing videos or interviews these days. No major label would touch them. Thanks for writing, and for the info. I'm glad you liked the video.

  • This version is awesome. First time I heard it. Thanks for posting.

  • In my opinion, the original versions of songs are almost always better than subsequent covers, and this is a perfect example. Glad you liked the video. Thanks for writing!

  • It's funny...I would almost always agree with that opinion, buckaroohawk. In this case I think the Carpenters' cover of this is by far superior to this original one. (mostly because of Karen's extraordinary vocals) Even Klaatu agreed Karen & Richard's version was better.

  • I'm not such a big fan of the Carpernter's version, but that only may be because I heard the Klaatu version first. The space theme just doesn't fit with with that Carpenter's salt-of-the-Earth quality I guess. Thanks for writing!

  • where the hell is Klaatu Madman - Dee dont be so greedy man - I have every Klaatu album I also have every CD now show us some media man - dont let this stuff die unknown KLAATU rocks -show the world

  • YES !! Madnam rocks !!!!

  • the first time i heard this song was on 8-track. thanx for the time travel!!

  • No problem. That's what the "Way-Back Machine" is for. Thanks for writing!

  • great images...

when I saw the opening i was reminded a bit of the inside of the spaceship from ELO's Out of the Blue for some reason

  • Yeah, I can see the similarities. It had the same clean, sparingly futuristic design sense that films like "Forbidden Planet" had. I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks for writing!

  • love the eagles from Space 1999! I used to love watching that! And I am also very fond of Klaatu!

  • I'm hoping to do more with the Eagles from Space: 1999 in future videos. I'm glad you enjoyed watching. Thanks for writing.

  • Have both of their albums in the backroom. I prefer the first but both are very unique.

  • Glad you enjoyed reminiscing here. Thanks for writing!

  • I remember buying the first Klaatu record which was my fave at the time...and hearing some propaganda radio special about it really being a reunited Beatles...ahhh those were the daze...when we were all so stoned...wish I still had that record!

  • I don't remember being stoned back then. Of course I was only around 10 years old at the time ;-)

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for writing!

  • i have that record i dont use it anymore i have no turnntable

  • Ah, one of Klaatu's greatest songs! Sadly, nearly no-one I know has heard of them...

  • They do seem to have gone under the radar, especially in the USA, but just look at all the people here who do know of them. There are more comments about Klaatu and the song than the video content, which really surprised me. Thanks for writing!

  • Nice video! Keep it up!

Also, the Beatles rumour was started in part because Klaatu stayed

  • ...Klaatu stayed anonymous for a really long time, so nobody knew who they were, their names, anything. People really wanted the Beatles to reunite, so when someone mentioned the possibility that Klaatu could be them, people took it and ran.

  • That explains a lot. That's what happens when you make yourself a mystery. People will draw their own wild conclusions. Thanks for the info, and for writing.

  • Klaatu's second album, Hope, is a self-contained science fiction "theme" album about the inhabitants of the planet "second from the sun." It chronicles their triumphant rise through their technology and their ultimate fall owing to their arrogance. I think if you got a copy of "So Said the Lighthouse Keeper" from that album and made a video, it would be great!

  • I'll have to look up the song and see what I can do. Thanks for the tip, and thanks for writing!

  • Hey... I'm a big Klaatu fan and I don't know that they were arrogant (unless you've read self admissions from the band members). I believe they were simply ill managed by Capitol Records. I loved there first three albums, with my favorite from "Sir Army Suit" being the tune "Older." Thanks for the CGI flashbacks, Buckaroohawk ;-)

  • altruman, I didn't mean Klaatu were arrogant. I was referring to the storyline from the album "Hope." The citizens of Politzania are the ones who met their demise owing to their arrogance. However your point is well taken - if Klaatu had not been so poorly managed I think they would have enjoyed much greater success.

  • However, that being said, it is good to see that now anyone can have the music of Klaatu since it is all available on Amazon. Just go to Amazon and search on "klaatu"

    Thanks for the memories, buckaroohawk!

  • No problem. I'm glad you all enjoyed it. Please, don't stop talking on my account. Please continue the conversation.

  • Glad you liked it, altruman. Thanks for writing!

  • Aliens go home! - We don't need you here!!! - Please interstellar policeman...help!!! - And where the hell, is Karen Carpenter??! Oh gosh...

  • You're risking an interstellar incident with such inflamatory remarks. Still, I hope you enjoyed the video, and thanks for writing.

  • Man you made a fantastic video, you are very talented. Great song too.

  • Thanks, rodstarr! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for writing.

  • Wow that was amazing!!! Got me wanting to try to render some scenes!!

  • Go for it! It's always fun to see other CGI artist's work. Thanks for writing!

  • The tune is actually 7:14 long. Musically, this edit misses some of the impact of the complete song. Little Meutrino is even better at 8:25!

  • There's a longer version of the song out there? Gee, I just keep learning more and more about that little ditty. Thanks for taking the time to write!

  • The Carpenters covered the song and Klaatu were the original artists. <--- that's true.

  • That's what I figured. Anyway, the Carpenter's version sounds like a cover. I can't place exactly how, but it just doesn't sound like one of their usual songs. Thanks for writing.

  • The original sound is from "The Carpenters". Look here in youtube to see it.

  • Actually, I think that The Carpenters covered the song and Klaatu were the original artists. That's the impression I got from Klaatu fans here, anyway. Thanks for writing!

  • nope - the original is from KLAATU - rofl carpenters

  • It's about time I find a good recording of Klaatu on-line. These guys were great. I have 4 or 5 of their albums. They do have a website with two mailing lists. A couple of them still perform. They were also kind enough to respond to me about how they felt betrayed by their record company about that entire "Beatles" thing. Awesome dude! Make more.

  • I will be making more videos like this in the future. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for writing!

  • Very nice! A lot of hard work went into this no doubt.

  • Indeed it did. It took months to render all of the individual shots, then a few days to edit and time it all out. Glad you liked it. Thanks for writing!

  • I have been looking for Klaatu mpegs or any audio for years and finally!!! here it is...how abut anus of uranus?

  • There are a few videos on Youtube featuring music from Klaatu, but I'm glad you liked mine. I hope you enjoy the others when you find them. Thanks for writing!

  • that's so cool thanks for the video do you have Little neutrino, just love Klatuu, another fan!

  • I'm afraid that this song is the only Klaatu tune I own. I'm amazed at the number of responses I've received about the song. It's really touched a lot of people. Thanks for writing!

  • They had another song called "Knee Deep in Love" that was a hit, but this one is better.

  • Amazing! I just counted, and there are more comments about the song than the video itself. I had no idea Klaatu had such an imapct! Where the heck was I in the 1970's?!

  • I too heard the 'Beatles' theory from my Dad. Well..maybe a little bit like John during his later Beatles period. I actually found a Klattus album in my aunt's record colelction.

  • Wow! Another Klaatu memory. I'm so glad I used that song for this video. It's nice to hear so many fond recollections. Thanks for writing!

  • I thought it hilarious that some believed (in the 70's) Klaatu to actually be the Beatles, reunited. Catchy, disposable pop music was all it was. But, damned if I didn't shell out the $3.99 to buy the album. Yes, ALBUM. Yeesh. I feel so old.

  • I didn't know that about Klaatu. How bizarre! Nothing I've heard from them sounds anything like The Beatles. How did a rumor like that get started?

  • I didn't think they sounded like the Beatles either. I'm not sure how the rumor started, but, the music rags ran with it. All the music scribes wanted to be the first to report on a Beatles reunion that some people just couldn't give up on.

  • Very strange. The funny thing is that John, Paul, George, and Ringo worked with each other on their solo efforts for years after they broke up so there actually were some "unofficial" reunions after all. Thanks for writing back!

  • First time I heard Klaatu - A dorm room in Winona MN visiting friends - 1976 - I got you one better on the $3.99... Not only did I buy the first LP, I bought the second! "Hope"

  • I never knew there were so many Klaatu fans out there. I discovered them because this song was used on an episode of "Due South" back in the 90's. Thanks for writing!

  • Very nice, great 3d models too!

  • Thanks! I didn't build all of the models, some were found online. I did a lot of modifications to them, though. Glad you liked the video and thanks for writing!

  • A couple of things, Buckaroo: 1) Nice job! 2) seemed to capture a hopeful ever expanding humanity, growing into space. 3) When I heard this song, I THOUGHT it was about "Interplanetary Craft", meaning: Aliens who had minds which could communicate across space! (Craft, like "Handicraft" "Witchcraft" "create" and not "Vehicle") It was 1979 or so.

  • Actually, that's a very interesting description of the term and one I'd never considered. It would make for a cool story concept.

I also like your hopeful perception of the video. Thanks for writing!

  • Great, Buckaroohawk ! :-)I have the original record of Klaatu , hidden somewehere in the basement.

  • I got the song from the "Due South" TV show soundtrack. They used it in a first season episode. From what I've been able to learn, the song was also recorded by The Carpenters back in the 1970s, but I've never heard their version of it. I'm glad you liked my little video, and thanks for writing!

  • Great CG work and an excellent video. I am a huge fan of Space:1999 and would really like to see more of the eagles and the Jupiter two from Lost In Space!

  • I'm glad you liked the video. I have more CGI scenes with both the Space: 1999 Eagles and the Jupiter 2 in another video I'll be posting soon, so keep watching. Tnaks for writing!

  • I thnk this one is my favorite.... not just cause I love the song, but visually the transitions work.

    My gypsy blood is stirred.

    <weg> L

  • Thank you, dear. That really means a lot to me!
