I don't disagree with what you say but the same happens in the UK, obviously not the same number. The thing about missing people, they generally turn up. It is only something like 3% who are never found again or found dead. When you see a stat saying "10,000 women recorded missing last year" or something, the press neglect to tell you that 8,000 of them were found or returned.

Honestly, mate. I don't mind debating with you but I'd appreciate it if you gave it a little respect. I've spent many a year researching and writing about UK and US serial killers (German, Aussie and Canadian to a lesser degree). It was what my dissertation was about and some of my work has been referenced by your fellers at Quantico. Of course it's very easy to say that without offering up any proof but please know that this is one of the very few things I know what I'm talking about, with:-)

One more quick point, Leon, mate. Many people misunderstand the quantitative study. I am talking per capita here. Of course the USA has many more recorded serial killers, as the USA is, what, 5 times the size of the whole of the UK? That is why we deal in recorded cases out of a pre-determined number. In this case every 100,000 people. That levels the playing fields and takes the national populations into account. I was wrong saying UK has "many" more, but per cap, it does have slightly more.

Per cap theres been many more UK serial killers than US ones. It's interesting to note that the US and the UK have by far more serial killers than any other developed nation. I wonder why those two countries have produced so many.

NYC doesn't have anyhing like 18 active SK's. There are thought to be between 8 and 13 active in the whole of the US at any one time.

There is more media, films, etc about US killers, so we hear more bout them than Brit ones but there are statistically more Brit ones.
