If science cannot confirm it, then creation science can? OK, then let's all begin worshipping gods and cease all scientific inquiry into astrophysics, molecular biology, paleontology, and geochemistry. prins, Keep in mind that they are a.) quote mining b.) doing said mining from an out-dated copy of Hawking's book. Hawking goes on to explain why the "assumption" the universe would appear the same from various points in space, and even provides examples (that you can do in your own home) illustrate the expansion as seen from various points. One easy and widely popular technique is to inflate a balloon with marked points-I'm sure you've seen or done this yourself.

stephen hawking could easily refute the christian view of 'creation' or whatever you'd like to call it. he's said it before. measuring the galaxies and their speeds etc, we see that at one point they would have all been on top of each other [not actually galaxies at this point] and rapidly expanded and accelerated away from one another [big bang]. the laws that govern the universe both allow and require that to be true. anything before the big bang is completely irrelevant at this point.
