I love your tank set up... I have a tiger salamander but i use coconut dirt stuff for the substrate..... Im jealous of ur tank haha i gotta make mine similar
Awesome set up. I want a tiger salamander so bad, right now I have a blue spotted salamander. I like it and all, but he spends so much damn time under the freaking ground.
I dont think the salamander would even try to climb so i wouldnt consider that a real risk. They wouldnt climb in the wild because something would eat them so they wont do it in captivity. Plus there just too clumsy
umm not to be negative u have an awesome setup but there is no need for big branches as they like to burrow so wat i do is get some eco earth put it in the tank alone then put moss over it so it has some thickness to burrow in also the reaon y u dont want the salamander climbing is he can fall and hit against something hard and actually harm his soft body

Does it hurt when he bit you?

No, it feels like someone lightly squeezing your finger.

You should put the sticks and stuff back in and add a frog to the setup. grey treefrogs are known to get along well with cagemates
