I believe that despite her voice being in a really good condition on the Emanitipation of mimi´s tour, her best years were during glitter and charmbracelet i think she got her maximum then. dont u guys agree.
i hate to admit it, but i kinda agree with you, but i hope her voice is going through a down patch at the mo, i thought she had lost just after the butterfly era and before rainbow but then came back during glitter and charmbracelet with huge vocals so lets hope she gets enough rest after E=MC2 and continues her amazing vocals.
I think the vocals on the Emancipation tour DVD were pretty strong, she kept a lot of the arrangement from the original recording, which I haven't heard her do since, probably the Music Box live performance
I oppose. She Performed this better than live 8 she reached the note in the last "way" and in Live 8 she was short because her voice was raw and it was a bit soulful... Here she really has this whole voice...
agree,Live 8 was Mariahs one of worst vocal,no strength and rough cannot even sing HERO.thousands Live real Mariah Live singing were way much times BETTER!! this is quite good CharmTour.
u r so silly Mariah at Live 8 Londond was one of her years weakest performances, there were so thousands her Live singing before and after with much better vocal Performances,go watch those real Live ones to know.
Here voice was on point during this concert. It's the discipline and constant exercise of her voice that lead to these great vocal performances, and later the stellar vocals on TEOM album.
see, she just needs to be confident when she's singing. i really believe that's her only problem in the last couple years, she's not super confident about being able to reach right notes which is why we get some okay moments and lipsynched moments. She's really at ease, you can see it in her face and she sounds like she did in 1995, perfect.
HAHAHA you are so smart. I am starting to think you are mariah, are you?? No you are correct, in the rollong stones they said confidence is still mariahs biggest issue and trust me it really is. Why do you think she like to show off a lot, she has a big confidence issue and i think it prevents her from showing her true voice. When she says she is still struggling this is one of her "struggles"
Billybob, did you see her 2002 Today's show performance of this show. I think it's better than this one, although I do like this performance. I like how she extends her arms for a moment and prances around in a circle lol.
She hits her highest chest voice note in a recording in the song "Miss You (Remix)" and she hits a note half a step down from that in her BET performance of "Vision of Love..."
What's the problem with mariah Carey after 1992...? I wonder how she was able to record "anytime you need a friend"... she would never do that live... the videos I've seen of that song... she sings it at least 2 notes lower and doesn't do that end as in the CD
Actually...she sings it 1 key lower.Instead of doing F5...she does E5...instead of doing G5...she does F#5 and so on...as she has always done. And i've read that many times in the studio, during the recording process, the notes tend to get higher by a key or two.
And besides, she has proven able to sing up to G#5 LIVE...and that's the range she's shown on studio...with the exception of an A5 in Fly Like A Bird.
her highest live chest notes are G#5's in different performances. but in studio she has gone up to A5 in Circles and In the background vocals in To Be Around You.

i just think that the madison square garden one was better because it was quality...because this is just phenominal..her vocals are at its peak...cauz she sounds soo good...better then in the 90's actually..amazing...but the quality is so bad that it takes away from the performance..because i think that the vocals are better then the one in madison square in 1995.
this is a great performance! she went for those damn hit notes like the album version!. man, mariah gave her all in her charmbracelet tour. i went to the los angeles concert but did not bring a recorder, which i regret not sneeking in. to think that this song was i believe in 1993, and 10 years later, she hits those notes and sings so well just shocks me. i wish she can perform like this for the 'adventures of mimi' tour. that would be awesome! mariah during the charmbracelet era is my favorite.
I don't know about what is the best, but this definately isn't it. I'm suprised by how many deep chest voice belts she made but she definately wasn't top form vocally. I feel fortunate that when I saw her in Cinci that she was.
I think GMA was the best performace, but it had more of a gospel feel and sounded raw like you'd hear in church. I love the ad-libs she did because it reminds me of Karen Clark-Sheard. The only bad thing abuot it was the sound quality.
epic F#5 at 1:43! Raspy E5 then BAM nice strong resonant F#5! When she is rested she can blow. This performance was amazing!

Some troubles to hit the highest belting notes near 3:03 but this is fucking great, let's be honest.
