  • a wit, but not a wise man. there is a difference

  • 3:17 does hitch have a unibrow?

  • A great loss but one who's legacy shall live on!

  • Intelligent man.

  • Wiliam Lane Craig couldnt hold a candle to Hitch, his so called debating skills are circular bluster,he is incapable of actualy thinking anything ,he just paraphrases the bible as though that alone is sufficient authority, just like all fundamentalists do.

Hitch kept it real. His legacy is a generation of new thinkers,Keep up his good work.

  • Thanks for this great clip collection. So many people around the world will miss him. Hitch always opposed stupidity, tyranny, hypocrisy and of course, religion. The struggle continues! I'll miss you brother! (as I raise a glass of JWB).

  • Rest peacefully my good man. You've influenced enough of us to change things ourselves.

  • Never read a book in my life..But I want that one.

  • I agree with Hitchens on the support of U.S and Israel foreign policy against terroists. However, Hitchens never admits to our wrongs. This is just the opposite of Noam Chomsky who treats everything we do as bad. Hitchens treats everything we do as good. It is not that simple. It is mixed up. Neither of these intellectuals admit to the wrongs by the sides that they are supporting.

  • Well done, great video.

  • @FiverBeyond Thanks for the kudos.

  • What a great video!

  • @napchier Much thanks for your comments.

  • @highlanderdurp sure hope so, for we need him more then ever.

  • Anyone know the song at the beginning????

P.S. Let's get the word Hitchslap in the Oxford English Dictionary.

  • @Pityea The music is license free from apple loops.

  • You just got Hitch-slapped!

  • One of the things that makes me happiest is when people compare my style of debate to Christopher Hitchens. Of course they are mistaken to make the comparison, I simply have a similar voice and mannerisms, but to be a 1/5th the intellect of this man would be an honour.

  • @OatSharpener Perhaps his influence has rubbed off on you? I notice myself debating in a similar manner after I read one of his books or watch him debate. He's got quite a distinctive personality, I almost wish I was him at times.

  • Who's the black ''rapper'' looking guy at 3:09 ?

  • @Zed1967 Mos Def.

  • Give 'em hell Hitch

  • Ohh man Hitchens is the best I hope that he beats this cancer and comes back even more of a badass. He is a legend and as close a thing as I have to a hero

  • @TheXman300 why every time I hear about athiest they die of cancer?

  • @DBZass Are you trying to be funny because if you are you sound like a miserable little twat laughing at someone elses misfortune

  • @TheXman300 no not trying to be funny...

  • @DBZass sorry I thought you were because I have heard a lot of sick fucks do it but yeah it is a shame that he has cancer but at least he has lived more of a life than most people can dream of

  • @DBZass well seeing as cancer is the #1 killer in america, you can probably understand why lots of people die from it. 1 of every 4 people get diagnosed with cancer.

  • @DBZass are you insinuating their is some kind of link between the two?

  • anybody know the music playing in the background? sounds very 70s

  • @alexeifacesav The music is from apple loops that come with Final Cut Suite. All royalty free.

  • Epic.

  • Viva la Hitch!

  • Excellent video. Well done, sir.

  • @theDyingWhale Thanks for your kind comments.

  • Distilled Hitchensian brilliance.

  • Hitchens is SO the man.

  • He hates the same people I do, and therefore I like him.

On the other side... I did kind of like Reagan.

  • @leroywinston1 Believe it or not, some of my favorite comedians are British. Monty Python's Flying Circus is one of the funniest comedy series ever. That doesn't give you license to be a pretentious asshole and it sure as hell doesn't mean you're all funny.

  • @leroywinston1 My sense of humor isn't the problem here and you know it. You are such a stereotype, with your patronizing, snobby tone. Oh dear me, your advanced British humor just flew right over mah head! Fuck off with that, please.

  • @leroywinston1 There are quite a few christians here, yes. That is not the equivalent of us being a "christian country" that that might as well have a cross on our flag. This was what he was saying and it is undeniably false and ignorant. His comment was not witty, funny, or in any way deserving of praise from an audience that I hoped was less common. :/

  • @graemealee We are IN NO WAY a "christian country" as you put it. We have no state sponsored religion(like you) and we have the separation of church and state(you don't ). It is in the first amendment of the US constitution, if you want to see for yourself. The decoration on our money does not define us as a nation. Hitchens agrees with me on this and its part of the reason he's an American citizen now. Christopher deserves a smarter fan base than this. *sigh*

  • @HamsterFueledRocket 1400 years ago

    Quran:

    (SURAH-3-THE FAMILY OF IMRAN-VS-91)

Surely, those who disbelieve and die while they are unbelievers, the earth full of gold shall not be accepted from one of them, though he should offer to ransom himself with it; these it is who shall have a painful chastisement, and they shall have no helpers.

  • @quranresponse OUr old mystics were feeding us the same BS when your moe was still a sperm in his daddies withered sack. We've seen this noise before.

Fuck off with your barbaric superstition.

  • apparently you cant vote down here for some reason, how odd. the gullible people here that follow this person can now pray that he survives.

    ah hang on ...

  • Comment removed

  • Dumb populist

  • @graemealee One of the most cogent, sensible comments I have ever read.

  • Hey, can you recommend me the best site to buy a new Hitch-22(hardcover would be good)? He's my hero and I want to have something that reminds me of him all my life.

  • @graemealee I live in America, and I agree with you. I am an atheist also.

  • Awaken your Inner Mojo Nixon and Scream forth the the Truth with the power of your suckerpunch of Love.

  • Dear God,

I will give you George Bush to get Hitchens cured from cancer.

    Love,

    An Atheist

  • i love him

  • @agnostaxian Its odd how that debate went completely over your head as you sat there watching it.

  • @agnostaxian Yeah, because reasonable person would really believe some zombie Jesus! Even skeptics beleive it, because The Bible said so!

How can any reasonable human beign believe that space was create by a creator? We live in the galaxy with hundred billions of stars. Our Sun is just one of these stars. And there are hundred billions of galaxies in the space...

Suppose that we really are the Gods children, why he make all these stars and galaxies? Its just doesnt make any sense!!!

  • @BigLebowsk "why did he make all the stars and galaxies? it just doesn't make sense!!!" As a theist it makes perfect sense, you are looking at it with the wrong lenses and as the wise philosopher/sage Jeffrey Lebowski once said, "...well...that's just like... your opinion man." ;)

  • @agnostaxian RE: "As a theist it makes perfect sense, you are looking at it with the wrong lenses"

Try looking at with no lenses at all sometime. You might be able to see a little better without the dark, God colored glasses.

RE: "i am glad this asshole got his ass kicked by craig."

Sure he did - NOT. Hitchens is brilliant - William Lane Craig hasn't had an original idea in 20 years. Same old weak sauce apologetics over and over - word for word.

  • @Ansonidak If you think you have no bias then you are incredibly biased and only blind to your presuppositions.

You think Hitchens ideas are New??!! Just read Epicurus. Since men could think, someone has always held some position.

Hitchens got a prison pounding in that debate. Even atheists admit this.

  • @agnostaxian

maybe if you read and watched more Hitchens you would find out he is not a one-trick pony, like these pathetic apologists.

Craig has been practicing his own form of Gish-Gallop for 20 years, funnily enough he is good at it. Too bad each of his arguments gets pasted by the experts in each field in turn

  • @WombatusMaximus Quran:

    (SURAH-3-THE FAMILY OF IMRAN-VS-116)

(as for) those who disbelieve, surely neither their wealth nor their children shall avail them in the least against allah; and these are the inmates of the fire; therein they shall abide.

  • @Ansonidak Hitchens is brilliant, just not in that debate. Hitchens is great at rhetoric and making a point but as for philosophical argument, even atheist philosopher's cringe at his arguments. Read Steele's "Atheism explained" that is actually a good philosophical defense of atheism

  • is there anyway this can be made into toilet paper? i just ran out.

  • Guess what book I've got in my possession? Yep. Hitch 22. Finally. =D I ~wish~ I could write as well as this guy.

  • What's the music on this video? Really suits Hitch's combative nature.

  • @Classicintercourse It almost sounds like the intro to Whole Lotta Love by Led Zepplin, but then it goes off into who knows what. =/ I too would like to know.

  • @ENez0 My thoughts exactly, very much like Zeppelin.

  • Great work-I never thought someone could make a proper compilation video encapsulating Hitchens; but you've done it, and quite well.

  • @douglasmstewart Thanks man. I was a blast putting it all together.

  • Till he drops indeed, and despite chemo treatments that wrack the body with pain and weakness, he's still regularly owning theists, including former prime ministers. Like Socrates he's taken the poison and keeps on teaching. This is a man to be admired and studied.

  • "How much longer are you gonna do this?"

    "Till I drop."

    T_T

  • Man, I'd hate to be opposite Hitchens in a debate.

No one strings spoken words together better than he does.

  • @3point14rat You are a rational human being, so you never will be opposite him my friend. Every time I see Hitchens in a debate, I am always gobsmacked by the illogical fool opposing him. Evey time I ask myself "is this really the best they can muster for this man?"

I concur, no one delivers a Hitchslap better than Hitchens. :D

  • @123backinyerface I just started reading his autobiography last night. I'm very interested in seeing what his early life was like, and what might have caused him to become the person we know him as now.

Sam Harris is his equal in speaking, but Sam doesn't have the 'every-day-man' feel that Hitchens does.

Whenever I listen to Hitchens debate, I wish I were able to deliver the smack-down to morons like he does.

Hitchens should be King of the World.

  • @3point14rat On the back cover of his book, There's a quote by Richard Dawkins that reads "If you are invited to debate . . . with Christopher Hitchens, decline. His witty repartee, his ready-access store of historical quotations, his bookish eloquence, his effortless flow of well-formed words . . . would threaten your arguments even if you had good ones to deploy." ;)

  • Going to see him debate tomorrow so psyched!!!

  • @theclewis Did you record it by any chance???

  • @123backinyerface No, but someone has put it up now.. watch?v=iCSxf1JgeQk&feature=related

  • I love the Hitch

  • Fucking amazing video.

  • Shit, awesome video. Plays like a trailer for a revolution

  • Long live The Hitch!!!

  • Really great compilation, great pictures and clips. Well done.

  • Great video!

  • This man is my hero and I hope he will defeat his cancer.

  • @DurexDurpaneu2 - I don't think he will defeat it but I agree, he may be my only true hero. He likes to say that Darwin and Abe Lincoln were coincidentally born on the same day and I think we know who the greater emancipator was. I'll add Chris to the list of emancipators.

  • @DurexDurpaneu2 I don't think the Hitch had heroes or appreciates being made one but fuck it, i agree with you.

  • @jimmybillabong I meant, HAS heroes

  • @DurexDurpaneu2 hes god a drive unlike any ive seen. dont worry he will.

  • Love this man.

  • thank you so much for this vid! thank you so much for this vid!

  • Christopher Hitchens was quite attractive when he was younger... all that alcohol and all those cigaretts really took it's toll...

  • @qqs764 hitch gives me a mind boner

  • @qqs764 Age doesn't help either.....

  • u da man hitch

  • lol 1:54 picture, Hitchens never misses an opportunity to be on camera

  • Great video!

  • Get well soon Mr. Hitchens; the world needs you.

  • THE NORTH KOREAN ONE ROCKS~!

  • one of the few men who who calls a spade a spade.

  • @johnnyd101 Well, not exactly. He simply holds opinions on matters, and on some others convictions, and he will continue to hold them until they are proven to be false.

  • Some very inspiring photos there! Hitchens to me, is ahead of his time for a way of thinking and philosophy amongst (Whats left of) middle class citizens in the west. He represents a very free way of thinking, and has made a career/craft of it. I certainly enjoy his way of thinking as our society seldomly speaks its mind on any matter that could cause offense in anyway shape or form to minority and or Majority traditional thinking. The man is a walking talking legend.

  • Is this a good book? I love this guy.

  • @tylertyler82 only some way through it but hell ye

  • Who is that at 3:20? Is that a young Christopher Hitchens?

  • @theowarner yes, it seems so. pretty goodlooking.

  • @endofscene

    What happened?

  • @theowarner Johnny Walker roughed him up.

  • Get well soon Hitchens!

    We need you!!!

  • What's the song?

  • You guys will like the song I wrote that mentions Hitch. In the search type in 1 GOD MORE TUNE.

  • Comment removed

  • @HugNow is he wrong though?

  • Well done.

  • hitchens' voice sounds like serafinowicz when he tries to sound like an asshole:

    watch?v=lBB9An0ZT3I

  • Intelligent and relevant....

    makes me miss Bill Hicks.

  • Haha he is such a badass!

  • WORD.

  • I laughed out loud at that "WAR ON CHRISTMAS" headline. I know Fox has incorporated that straw man into their yearly schedule but it's just too absurd to be taken seriously. What a bizarre, ignorant culture we have here in the US.

  • Does anyone know who is the black guy from Hitch comment 19?

  • @UzumakiBla Mos Def. The video of Hitchens absolutley toying with him is directly to the right. It was on Bill Maher.

  • Go Hitch!!!

  • @sleeplesseye and just because you ramble incoherently doesn't mean your right and i think his study and experience of religion is give his opinion a bit more weight than you or I

  • "How much longer are you going to do this?" (@ 3:41 - and which has got to be one of the most idiotic of questions to ask CH)

His: "Until I drop" response was priceless.

Same here, sir. Same here. Time for the the idiocy to stop......

  • My hero

  • Where did you find all these pictures?

  • @flaskhalss

    google:

    "May 30: A life in pictures (guardian.co.uk)"

  • @flaskhalss This was a video we created for 12 Books. They provided us with a trove of images, most which made into the final video.

  • Will Hitchens and Dawkins ever be willing to debate Rev. Robert A. Sirico of The Acton Institute? I don't think so.

  • @robtjonz Never heard of him. I'm certain Hitchens would considering how he's gone up against Craig, supposedly the best of the Christian apologists.

  • @robtjonz Sirico who has written a book titled "Moral Basis for Liberty"? yet he has a book from his deity which he must live and believe after...

I do not know how the religious do all this mind-juggle.

  • just. pure. AWESOME

  • Easily the most compelling speaker and debater today, even if you don't agree with all he says.

  • I used to get this excited waiting for the next Pink Floyd album to come out.

  • I really can't wait to sink my teeth into this book :)

  • great promo; please send me a copy !

  • Sold!

  • It would be better without that tedious guitar music in the background.

  • A really well made video!

  • I would add:

Hitchens (being interrupted on Australian Q&A): "I'll get to the end of this sentence if it kills you".

    and, paraphrasing from "collision":

Douglas Wilson: "And who will judge me if there is no God"?

Hitchens: "Well you've just said some incredibly stupid things in front of thousands of people, your judgment is already upon you".

  • Great stuff.

  • Hitchens, the ultimate "crusader". The sole crusader AGAINST organised Religion.

Ironically, With his antagonism towards ALL religions, Hitchens may actually bring about world peace, probably because all organised religions view him as the sole threat to their authority, thereby forcing themselves to turn against him instead of each other, at least for a moment anyway.

Give him the Nobel Peace Prize .

  • @geeoogle good thinking, but the nobel peace prize lost all meaning when Obama won it (if not before; don't get Hitchens started on Mother Teresa).

The nobel prize for literature is a joke too.

If somehow (God willing...) Hitchens would win a Nobe Prize, I like to think he'd refuse it like Sartre did.

  • @ytzuigt Kissinger and Arafat also won it.. So the value of the nobel peace prize went sown in value long before Obama got one.

  • @SockbatReplica True, the whole thing is laughable. And Al Gore hasn't even been brought up

  • The best part about when Kissinger got it for negotiating 'peace' in Vietnam was that his Vietnamese co-laureate Le Duc Tho refused it on the grounds that there was no peace in Vietnam.

  • is that Tariq Ali in photo 2?

  • can't wait

  • loooooveeee it.

  • Good tribute to Hitchens I think you've included all of his most well known feuds/targets in this video with exception to Kissinger.

  • He he.. I've heard most of those quotes - great pics from his early adulthood though.

  • Great vid. What's the music in the background?

  • 0:32 is that Hillary Clinton?

  • One of my most anticipated books and I'm sure a superb summer read.

  • Eagerly awaiting the release of his memoirs.

  • The photos of his youth are awesome... want more...

  • @tookaysevon

    Yes please!

  • Socrates of today.

  • @thruthem

Socrates didn't make statements. He asked questions. He also believed in a ruling aristocray. Please read Plato.

  • @francescaemc2

haha amen, even though I love The Hitch and Soccy
