They didn't need makeup or special effects. All are their own. This whole show is great. This shows how professional these guys were. Who knew they fought like cats and dogs (Gillan and Blackmore) behind the scenes. Their singing/guitar duel was an act they had of course perfected. However Ritchie doesn't ever make eye contact with Ian....who's screaming at the end is partly to get on Ritchie's nerves I suppose!!

what a band! great combination of musicians. Deep Purple had many incarnations, all were good, but this is the classic line up. Deep Purple in their prime. they don't make em like that anymore, unfortunately. I don't bash Led Zeppelin either, cause they were great rock n roll too. Blonde is not a Blackmore clone by any means. A great player but nothing is like Blackmore. Blonde plays Blackmore like a robot or something. Blackmore has a soul feeling that rules over a strat much like Page rules over a Les Paul. Blackmore cooks. Notice Blackmore's hands are even unique in feel and his picking hand is isolated with his fingers tucked in as opposed to most guitarists resting their third and fourth finger on the guitar's plate.
